  1. Isn't a schooner a sort of Beer Glass?
  2. Who Knows. 1000 years might be too much of a stretch for anything. Remember Tom Petty babbling and comparing Brian Wilson to Mozart (lol) For all we know they might revere Freddy and the Dreamers or Joe Meek in a couple of hundred years. Even ABBA ?
  3. Oddly though Bach was a huge Vivaldi fan, hence the Italian Concerto. They were as different as possible religiously and personally but both had to produce a lot of music in their (religious) working musician context. Bach towers over all of his contemporaries, if you want a prolific "hack" of the same period Telemann sure churned music out
  4. Oddly I'd spotted it there as I keep an eye on anything new in Lefty Section. Was already gone yesterday, looked good at a fair price. Gumtree today, a Japanese Squier Precision Medium Scale. He wants £600 which is too much for me at present but seems a bit less than some of the prices being asked. Never had a decent P bass yet, at my age am starting to think shorter scale might be a good idea.
  5. @Basses Id Like To Pluck glad you found the thread after our Facebook conversation. I encountered Lawrence a couple of times in Highgate when a local player (whose name I can't recall) had dealings with him Was so well regarded as a fount of wisdom/guru. @Matthew Canty best wishes to your Father and you.
  6. Already Sold. About the going rate, certainly looked nice. Would prefer Azure-glo or Midnight Blue personally. (Sour Grapes)
  7. Meshuggah, Friday next week at Royal Albert Hall. Bit concerned, the live clips I've heard from this tour seem very messy. Also not hugely impressed with Immutable, the new Album. However, if they do Demiurge I'll be happy.
  8. Elastica = Wire plagiarism plus noxious Justine Frischmann Echobelly - 1 good song and a cute frontwoman.
  9. The Cabs were really good, which is why I've accumulated a few Light, solid and sound great.
  10. Good in the 60s at what he did. More and more substance addled and tending towards lucrative pap to support the lifestyle. All this is apart from his spouting racist crap , being a nasty piece of work and becoming an anti-vaxxer. See also van Morrison and the gink from Stone Roses (last also a mystifyingly overrated band)
  11. This apart from Metal and Beatles. My exemplar of the irksome soloist is Mohini Dey. The facility with which she plays. Awesome. Musicality Groove , not from what I've seen. Will have to see what the band with Marco Minneman is like, we shall see.
  12. It's still there, just occupied by a Brazilian Evangelical Church (or it was last time I was in Finsbury Park). To be fair they did a good job of refurbishment on the interior by all accounts.
  13. It looks great and of impeccable quality. Plus you seem to like it, play it forever and enjoy.
  14. Pretty Tragic, doesn't she realise how much they owed to Plastique Bertrand ?
  15. Serves me right for trying to do a smart**se paradoxical attempt at humour. Must change over my Meds.
  16. Tho I'm not very keen on my Class d (positive grid bassamp 2 ) amp. Misguided G.A.S strikes.
  17. "Diabolical"? Seems like a sweeping generalisation. And all generalisations are false.
  18. Working with those two could have been potentially deadly behind the scenes..
  19. Listening to 🎧 pjb headphones Immutable by Meshuggah. Getting ready to be bludgeoned live at the Royal Albert Hall.
  20. Saw Afro Celt at Cambridge Folk Festival, they were a highlight along with an electric Scots band rejoicing in the name of Peatbog Faeries who are excellent live
