Love the M2 - so light for a five string. I think 7 basses enough (pro-tem). Sires are great but KSD with Audere a good substitute, need to get pickups checked tho ??
Looks fine to me. So many used Yamahas around and find that even baseline models are really well crafted. If a bit heavy.
Found a lefty TRB1005j for £300 a few months ago, a keeper and sole downside is it's hefty.
Squier VM jazz.
Cort Action5 5str.
(Ugly unbelievably cheap but necks good really amazing for the money.)
Sire M2 5str 2nd Gen.
Yamaha 4str Beater .
(downtuned with the Rotosound clothes line thickness strings)
Chowny Retrovibe.
(As close as I'll get to a Geddy Style Rickenbacker. Previous owner put Optima Gold strings on it. A really nice resonant light Bass. Think the pickups let it down a bit)
KSD Proto J 605
(Audere Pre d'addario black tapewounds. Love this Bass despite it being battered/gigged)
Yamaha trb1005j.
(A lovely looking well made Bass as good an instrument as I'll ever need. Maybe a little bland, certainly a bit bloody heavy. So I got the Chowny 😄)
Have a look at the Albion ABH800 Monster that I got alarmingly cheap on eBay. It's rather lighter than the Trace but took a while to get Ok tones on it with the multiplicity of adjustment available.
Seems a pretty well made thing and still does 650 watts on the 8ohm setting. Valve preamp great and compressor works when gently utilised. Seems a pity that Mr Grindrod's designs were virtually stillborn. I don't know if he's still active.
Damnit I can't seem to even post a link, much less a photo 😥😥😥
Thank you kindly dear sir. I will open and use /try them out (eventually). Might toddle with amp to see Ashdown and footle there next time I venture into East Angular.
Mug punters who imagine that anything "Collectible" is a sure-fire investment, the value is always going to appreciate 🤪🤪😄
Tulip Mania, but it's happening everywhere, mean time really good equipment is being sold off for peanuts.
Zombie Thread.
I really love my CTM 30.
You Missed out on one that went for £200 on eBay v recently.
Where are you based, a friend of mine is borrowing the amp at present, we're based N & Central London but I'm also out and about in southern half UK for various reasons if u wanted to give it a try.
Many thanks, will therefore plug Ashdown into requisite socket.
Re: Cab - foolery.
So a composite or very carefully constructed lightweight enclosure would of necessity be boat sized.?😃 Would it be feasible to do a ported 4x12" cab in this configuration? I guess this would make it a bit more compact.
