1. Cheers dude... this is taking too long to download so I guess it's doing sh*t stuff to my computer! 7mb should take seconds... it's at 0.9 after 5 minutes... Thanks though Anyone else got a file to email me?
2. Can anyone help a brother out? Looking for the driver file for an maudio audiophile 2496 sound card for xp. I'm finding this alot harder than id expect.
3. I love his playing. I really wish that kind of resource was available so easily 15 years ago.. i would be a much better player than i am!
4.
And how would you control what came out of FOH..because if you can't do that...what is the point of giving them exact same tone..? And if you were that particular, why would you use a pedal... because most are on the cheaper side of things?
Less variables, less chance my other effects reacting strangely to the PA, more likely the tone that suits the band will cut through. less mucking around time trying to get the amp sounding just right. Lots of reasons.
5.
Because you have an amp for that and any decent should be able to outperform a pedal
But as I've said and others have said, using the same amp every gig and rehearsal isn't possible for every one. If you want the exact same tone hitting foh wherever you play then a preamp pedal is an easy way to do it. Seems logical to me.
6.
I'm of the opinion you've got it wrong if you have a pre amp patched in 'on' full
What brings you to that conclusion? It seems quite reasonable to me to have one on all the time.
7. The bsw is a fun pedal but I had to use it along side a boss ls2 to get it working live... and I wouldn't say it's the most ground-breaking sound but it can get close to that deeper underground thing. Run it through some other effects and the world's your oyster! It's a stonker of an Octaver too which is what I've primarily used it for !
8.
The GT-001 only has amps and effects of the GT-100 Version 2.0 which is designed for guitar, although the XLR mic input can be used for vocals or acoustic instruments. Note: no mention of bass. While some may utilise the effects of the GT100 and the GT editor guy may suggest it for a bass guitar, it is a guitar fx processor and does not have bass amps in its menu. Let's hope Roland do give us the GT100B sooner rather than later!
The general consensus on talkbass though suggests that although they are not 'bass' specific, the cleanish amp sims are very good on bass, as are the other effects. However I don't think I've ever seen or heard anyone in the UK using one on bass. And on the lack of responses on this thread, I'm guessing not alot of basschatters use one. To be honest, my requirements have changed a bit since I posted this so I dont see me getting one any time soon anyway... but its still something i would think about rather than getting a dedicated bass unit.
9. I'm mates with a few of the guys of bombskare and shared a stage with them many a time. They are as they came across. Tight, energetic and never fail to get the crowd moving. they totally live and breath music. Brilliant bunch of guys.
10. Playing a decent cheapo bass is definitely a pleasure, but I've played a lot of absolute shockers over the years which have really knocked the stuffin' out me! I dont know whether its just because I'm a better player now, or if the companies have upped their game, but I find that the new cheapo ones I've tried are generally very playable! Just recently picked up a harley benton Jazz for £120 and its a great player! So much so I'll be using it at my next gig.
11.
For me, a big draw of preamp pedals is being able to get 'my tone' no matter what backline i might use, just by bypassing the amps pre/pluging into the effects return/DIing
This for me too. I've never had the desire to always play through my own rig at gigs... in fact I try get out of it any opportunity i can, so an always on preamp pedal is essential .
12. And a synth wah perhaps? Just shows...... its not what you have, it's what you can do!
13.
He also seems to do a few gigs in his home area.
If he's known then someone needs to confront the ****.
14. Yowzer. Good luck with this one matey. I've been on the tail end of a thief (from a deal on this very forum) so I feel your pain. Not sure if police could get involved but if they can it's definately worth reporting!
15.
Who are we trying to pass this fake off to? Most of the audience don't even realise we play bass, you just have a bigger guitar than the other guy(s) in the band, most wouldn't even know if it was a Fender or a Gibson but may hazard a guess at one or other based on them being the two most known brands. So maybe to other musicians? Possibly, there is certainly music snobbery out there, serious bands are expected to play serious instruments and other than a few select Squier's they are not generally regarded as pro end instruments. It maybe unfair and incorrect but unfortunately it is brand image, there are probably still bands out there where if don't use a Fender you don't get the gig! I don't get the preciousness over the decal, surely for those people annoyed by a bass with a replica decal fitted that should also stretch to the many high end copies sold under differing brand names, the likes of Limelight....blatant Fender clones, Lakland, Shuker, Tokai etc all with instruments that are obviously hugely influenced by Fender basses, if you are offended by these copies your choice of instrument ends up being very limited. Most guitars and basses out there have designs lifted from those first Fender and Gibson electric guitars which is testament to the fact that Leo Fender, in particular, got it so right first time
I think there is a massive difference between being influenced by, and literally using the brand name and logo.
16. I actually find it a bit cringeworthy to see a fender logo being put onto a non fender instrument. People can make excuses and say otherwise, but the sole reason for doing it is to pass the instrument off as a 'real' fender. That doesn't sit right with me. Leave as is, leave blank or put a custom decal there if you must. I think I would be a wee bit embarrassed if I was knowingly playing one with a fake decal. I must say though, I also find the 'funny' mock ups of fender logos really cringey too! 😂
17.
I have a brand new one, putting it up for sale this weekend, too heavy for me. Bought it a few months ago and forgot about it
I agree, its definitely on the heavier end, but for me, a decent strap will be sufficient.
18. My fender aerodyne jazz and my new cheapo Harley benton which is excellent! Terrible photos though!
19.
Zoom B3, he was sponsored by them
It's definately not a b3
20.
If it weren't for the logo and the headstock shape I think everyone would have one. I've bought three HB basses and a guitar and they've all been astonishing. Not just 'for the price', but by any standards. Unbelievable really.
I agree. 'Great for the price' can be a bit misleading. If this had fender on the headstock and cost 4 times as much id be none the wiser!
21. Gt100 perhaps? There might be sockets on the back left.... if there is then it's not a gt100. Does he ever touch it in this video? I've scanned through and he's not once even looked at it!!
22. I know the HB brand gets a lot of love round here and on talkbass so I decided to take a wee punt on this. At under 120 quid it's not exactly a life changing gamble but still a gamble. Got it delivered this morning... straight out the box it is absolutely astounding. Nice lowish action which can go lower if required. No tweaks needed. Can only use it via headphones at the moment however there s absolutely no weird noises or hums. Seems to be enough beef through headphones to suggest this will work nicely live. Got a stand in gig in a few weeks so will be using this for sure. The 15 year old me would have killed for such a good instrument as a 'beginner'. If I had this 19 years ago I reckon I would still be using it to this day! I just can't get it how this very good bass guitar can be shipped to me from China via Germany for the cost of a decent night out! My mind boggles! Everyone...go buy one!
23. This is valuable advice. Especially about it being basswood.... never even contemplated it being a bit sh*t underneath! It may have put me off completely! I can't find anyone in the world having done it (Or atleast discuss it online) do that could be a telling sign! Great advice as always guys. Cheers
24. Cheers guys for the hints and tips. I never even thought about it possible falling off... so as suggested i will use heat for the majority of it but then maybe a mix of sanding and delicate heat round the edges. I'm also contemplating leaving the wood 'au naturel' or perhaps a clear laquer so refinishing 'shouldnt' be an issue I hope... In my head its going to look very cool!! .
25. Zoom ms60b. You can have 4 effects at once.... so it can have slow attack > reverb > delay all in one boss sized pedal. I use it for this exact thing!
