  1. I thought I bloody fixed that. DAMN YOU AUTOCORRECT!
  2. On a similar note. Does anyone have any particular knob vendors or emporiums to recommend? Perhaps a one man operation somewhere? A merchant if you will. I do enjoy moving away from the norm but I've not found something that's really caught my eye and eBay is about as far as I have ventured this far so would appreciate some venerable recommendations for your favourite knobs.
  3. I remember reading an article a while back about this. It would appear that many of my generation look upon numeral with a degree of disdain but for the kids that were younger this was their first taste of rock and it heavily influenced their tastes. There's a growing group of bands and artists who are heavily influenced by the genre and are basically recreating it (please don't ask me to name them as I can't remember. They may very well be nobodies or I may very well be getting older and forgetting stuff). For reference I got into rock etc approximately 6ish months before numetal really exploded (my reference point being limp bizkit going number one). At first I too got sucked up into it, It was loud bright and new, along with everything else. I was discovering this alongside punk, ska, actual metal and rock in general so it was a really exciting time in my life. I do look back fondly on some tracks of that time but I did quickly move away from numetal for many of the reasons stated above, but largely a lot of the other bands didn't feel genuine.....and rubbish, they were largely rubbish (staind anyone?). It's a shame that this era was probably the last great (size not quality) era of rock. There seems to be a resurgence of guitar based music again soon hoping we can see some new perspective but I'm skeptical 🧐.
  4. I have messed around with a few, most recently the Dunlop Stubbys (which oddly recently I appear to have forgot how to hold, it's really weird). Anyways I always seem to go back to the 1mm tortex (blue ones) I really dislike thin picks on bass (they thwack, that's as good of a description as I'm capable of providing). Another bonus of the 1mm's is that they fit perfectly into the gap at the bottom of a jazz bridge pickup so I can quickly flick between fingers and pick which is great as my stamina with fingers is a bit variable!
  5. Yeah I would agree, the preamp would only increase the gain further. I would say either you need an extra cab (if your current one is running at 8 ohms, adding a second one OR getting a single cab to run at 4); or possibly look at the pa situation. In Most situations the PA does the heavy lifting volume wise. The amp gives you colour but the PA is the canvas size....to continue the terrible metaphor 🤣
  6. My first guitar and first bass were both heavily stickered. Went through a lengthy process of destickering my guitar and gave away my first bass but couldn't resist sticking one on my first proper bass. Thought I would take it off eventually.or it would get worn away. That was about 18 years ago so I guess it's staying. Recently accompanied with a new scratch plate. Can't find any other photos apart from this one when I installed the scratchplate and converted it back to a true jazz (it has been in a pj configuration for almost all of its life).
  7. That is a geometric masterpiece. I mean I'm sure it sounds good but that would make me happy to just look at.
  8. Thanks very much 😁
  9. It is really handy I have to say but it's a bit of a double edged sword. I LOVE the versitlity to size ratio but I find it frustrating to adjust or mess with on the fly. I honestly think it's one of those pedals most bassists should have at some point (other one being a sansamp/insert your di-preamp here). I mainly use the zoom for modulation so I am on the lookout for an appropriate multimodulator, not sure I'm gonna find a better one though. I also don't want to spend more that like a tenner which is probably the greater limiting factor here 🤣🤣
  10. Don't think I'm bringing anything new to the party but this is what I do for one of our songs: deluxe octave into mojomojo (light-medium gain) into microsynth (filter trigger off) into ms60b with a basic patch using compression and detune. Superego is fun in this but gets pretty wild. Can also engage the drive channel on the digbeth. That's great if the filter is on as it really highlights the frequency swoop. Muff is there as well for muffiness but it kinda overloads everything else. Still a fun noise though 😁
  11. This is awesome, I keep desperately wanting to be able to make my bass into a synth. Unfortunately I play in a rock band with rather limited scope for techno bass textures. Doesn't stop me trying though 😂😂
  12. I have the preamp as well and it's pretty good. Really flexible eq and switchable drive is something I have really appreciated (also having drive at the end of my chain has proven to be very useful). One thing I thought would be really useful but I never use is the tilt. I've played around with it but not found the real benefit yet. Everyone uses different things though so I'm sure someone gets full use out of it but if that's the only reason you would go for this you may not be fully satisfied. I would also say it is one of the cheapest DIs out right now considering its feature set.
  13. Soooo.....has he won then? Is that this thread finished? 🤣
  14. I guess it depends what you need specifically for the tracks you are wanting to spice up. Part of the problem for me regarding multi effects is firstly I MUCH prefer having individual knobs to visualise what I want to do. Totally get the benefits of presets etc but my brain does not like it at all. Secondly there is a lot fo stuff in multis that you probably do t need or want at this stage. For me this makes a lot of multi effects too overwhelming (I do keep flirting with the idea however). A good compromise for me is the zoom ms50b. It is a fully fledged multi effect but has the footprint of a single pedal. I have access to everything it offers but it's not the main player for me. It also is soooo fiddly to work with that I don't think it will bey long term option but I'm.tryong to make it work for now
  15. I'm about 5'7". Not sure exactly but typically the shortest guy in whatever group I find myself in. I've never felt the bass visually too big but definitely felt like it was a physical task. I use to compare it to taming an animal. At time it was like the notes were bouncing out your fingers, other times it was like walking through treacle. Having went away and came back with a fresh mindset I don't feel like it is physically intimidating now, bit still definitely challenging. Very curious about short scales but for now still sticking with my jazz. Also pro tip, professional photographers j is how to make you look good, stick with them 😂😂

  17. Don't know if you have seen but walrus audio have just released a preamp, the badwater. Clean/drive, optical compressor, 4 band eq and DI.
  18. I have been watching religiously since 2006, the yea wer Lordi won. I love it, not in an ironic way, it's just a lot of fun. For those of you who are sceptical I recommend drinking heavily. It's how I got into it in the first place accidentally 🤣. In all seriousness there have been some cool songs over the years, along with some garbage. The UK songs, in my opinion are rarely interesting and for the most part haven't deserved to win. Don't think they deserve nil points but hey ho. However the greatest tragedy was that the 2020 lineup was phenomenal and never got to perform. I think they were all busy or something? Not heard this year's um entry....or any other actually other than the Latvian entry so looking forward to see what's on offer!
  19. Can I ask is there anything else going on there, signal wise? Because that sounds phenomenal. Aside from your superb playing of course!
  20. Glad to hear it sounds good, there's very little online for this pedal with a bass. Also good to hear they, albeit begrudgingly, ship internationally. Your spot on with the OCD comparison, it's a modified version of that from what I have read
  21. How is the crook? I've been hearing it on the JHS show and it sounds amazing on there!
  22. Laney digbeth has an effects loop, also 4 band eq alongside clean, tube (distortion) and mixed output. However I gigged for years with a sansamp at the end of my chain. It basically acted as my amp sound. Never bothered too much with effects loops etc, it depends on the effect types you use and the sound you wanna get but even on guitar I just ran everything into the front of the amp. Each to their own of course but check out the digbeth!
  23. I have collectively owned two basses my entire life. One was a vintage (the brand) jazz bass. Was my first bass and I gave that to a friend as soon as I got my fender mim jazz. That was about 18 years ago. I have four guitars but they all predate the jazz. Two (epi acoustic and epi SG) are still in my parent's loft. The other two (Gibson SG and Yamaha Les Paul type thingy) are hung up in a cupboard in my bedroom. I definitely would like at least one other bass (my current one has been in a PJ setup for most of its life with a recent return to traditional jazz pickups). I just don't have the money or the space to do so. I'm in a position now that I'm not gonna get anything else until my heart tells me to go ahead with it. I'm reasonably sure I will get hold of a p bass again, bit I also want a short scale. And I love Thunderbirds. Never played one, I just love them. At the same time I feel like I wouldn't know what to do with two or more basses. I would probably just forcibly use one for a period of time then move onto another one. In conclusion I don't know what I want. All I know is I have one, I love it but I know there is more out there 🤣.
  24. Also recommend the Laney digbeth. Clean and drive no problems along with a 4 band eq. The zoom ms60b also great and does all the bells and whistles you would associate with a multi, including tuner. Why not both! 🤣 Sansamp also obviously great but you could get both the previous pedals for the price of a sansamp....still cheaper than a stomp though.
  25. This may he completely unrelated but I have both an epi and Gibson SG (6 string) and the neckdive is much worse on the epiphone. I think it's because the body is much thinner and therefore lighter but I don't have much of an issue with the Gibson. Obviously the basses may be different and all that but that's my experience
