  1. I've just had a look at that. Nice bass!
  2. Welcome to Basschat mate 👍
  3. SFX sell niche products and they don't look all that sexy. I bet the likes of Jam Pedals and Fuzzrocious sell way more kit. The market for distortion and fuzz pedals is, er, saturated, so if you want to stand out you have to make them attractive. I will admit, the appearance of a pedal is a factor in whether I choose to buy or not.
  4. The Tribute Kiloton I have has a 4 bolt neck joint but you are right about the resonance. A plucked E string does go on and on. Not as much as my string through Yamaha BB434 but still long enough for, say, 2 bars at the end of a section of song.
  5. Its the same as your SB2. No finish! G&L refer to it as 'satin' finish but it doesn't seem to have had any oil or lacquer put on it. The back of the neck is smooth enough so if I was so inclined I could rub in some oil myself, which would possibly improve it, or make a sticky mess. I would have to look into suitable oils for rubbing into the back of bass necks.
  6. Is that another PMT B stock bass?
  7. The neck would look a bit anaemic without them. Ideally I'd have the CAR finish with the rosewood/pearloid inlays but the rosewood/pearloid only comes with the stealth black.
  8. I have been gassing for a Kiloton Tribute on and off for a few years, I was put off in the past by tales of boat anchor weight and the colours; brown or white, which I wasn't so keen on. Now G&L have started selling them in colours I like. @Jonesy lives in the next borough along from me and he invited me round to his to try out his new G&L SB2 Tribute. Thanks mate👍. I wasn't so keen on the SB2 but I could see that it was well made considering the price and wasn't heavy. @OllyW also confirmed in another G&L thread here that his Kiloton wasn't heavy. So I took a punt and ordered online. I've never had a bass delivered before, I always wanted to try them out first but I didn't want to spend a day (and spend on diesel) driving down to Guilford for a £379 bass. My first impressions are: I love the tones you can get from it. I've been mainly playing it with the toggle switch in the middle, which I believe is single coil (?) with the tone and volume on max. It has the barky sound you would expect from a bass with a single bridge humbucker but the E string has a depth and authority I'm very pleased with. I really love it but its new so I will see how I feel about it in a few weeks but this feels like a keeper.
  9. Lovely looking basses those😍
  10. Chris Square got that Ric from Jon Andertons, he is their lead singer and he also flogs guitars down in Guilford.
  11. I had no idea she performed topless at TG gigs (the memory is vague but I'm sure I would have been aware of her other more X rated output). My mate just kept saying..."She's going to get her t*ts out in a minute" or words to that effect. She didn't but that wasn't important, the music (noise) was why I had bought the ticket and was prepared to face a long wait for a night bus home at 1 or 2 in the morning. It would have been nice for her to have faced the audience at some time though.
  12. I went to this gig. Throbbing Gristle were great, except...Cosey Fanni Tutti stood with her back to the audience pretty much for the whole set and, to the disappointment of a mate, didn't take her top off. This was the only time I ever saw TG but apparently Cosey Fanni Tutti would often perform topless on stage
  13. Have you weighed it by any chance? G&L tributes have a reputation for heaviness, but I'd be very tempted if this was under 4.5 kg
  14. How do you find the bridge pup? Does it have the same output as the neck pup? And is it noisy? I assume its not hum cancelling.
  15. I've always found my Bongo to be very comfortable to sit on. Sorry, I'm thinking of my toilet seat. Scratch the above.
  16. When I was a teenager I had a 7" called the 'Tampax E.P.' It was by an Italian punk band that I never saw and never heard of again. it was a numbered single and was difficult to get hold of. It was rubbish but very offensive, the lyrics went something like: "Tampax....Tampax...Tampax...Tampax in the Cnut". I only ever played it when friends came round and we would all have a good giggle (making sure my parents couldn't hear it). It was presumably an attempt to be as outrageous as possible, this was 1980 so you had to push the boat out a bit to be considered outrageous.
  17. I've had a lot of Gas for fuzz and drive pedals over the Christmas period and have been looking over websites by small overseas manufacturers, like Fuzzrocious, Jam Pedals, Iron Ether and Becos. Trouble is, ordering them can be less than straightforward; Becos won't deliver to the UK and now their U.S. distributor won't either, Fuzzrocious have a overseas $50 postage charge...and then add on the VAT when it arrives. @stewblack started a thread about an OD pedal from a brand I had never heard of: Raygun FX from Southend. This got me thinking, how many other small 'boutique' UK based pedal companies are there out there? I have a 'Subspace' by Hamstead, an Origin Effects 'Cali76' and a 'Micro-Thumpinator' by Sfxsound; so that is three I know. Any others?
  18. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this pedal when you've had a go. £65 for a handmade analogue pedal, that really isn't bad at all.
  19. I am a Jam pedals fanboy and the Rippyfall is a great chorus but that is all I use it for at the moment, I have no use for the phaser. I bought the Ripplyfall as I thought it was just a little extra over the 'Waterfall' and you get an extra effect. The size/shape is a bit awkward in that its not a very economical with pedal board space. Jam pedals do custom builds with any combination of their pedals but they are not cheap and I don't think they do a reverb.
  20. This is my latest board. I have an Electro Harmonix Switchblade Pro incoming so this might be a bit impermanent.
  21. I would like to add to above praise. Camden Town is nearly local to me, I live, work and rehearse in North London, so the Bass Gallery is quite convenient. Martin has done a fair bit of work for me over the last couple of years: set ups, pick up replacement, shielding and, recently, replacing fret marker dots with Luminlay dots. Occasionally I have had to chase them about work I've asked them to do because they haven't called to let me know its finished but the work itself has so far been flawless. I feel lucky to have them around.
