1. I used to get shall we say,''carried away'' at rehearsals and used to thump the body of the red bass to your left quite a bit. This resulted in me having to get the knobs repaired (the beautiful clicking sound every time volume /tone was increased /decreased was replaced with bog standard twist) Also one time I left lead in it ,stood on lead and had to wait for a special jack to be fitted ! I won't mention the RADIO SIGNALS the active circuitry was picking up since then.
2. I have been using EDEN NEMESIS NC-250 COMBO , the band said'' AWESOME!!'' Band in disarray at moment(I may have to look for another). As I don't drive (& couldn't afford walkabout scout ) , I now have AGUILAR AG500 AMP /DB112 CAB, and am waiting to try this out at next rehearsal.
3.
Get pissed, click BIN, feel sick, lie to wife, enjoy it when it arrives.
4. What about a whammy bar,and a badz scratchplate Great job tho' :brow:
5. Well, if it's something you have your heart (and lots of cash )on ..do it! I had a fair bit of dosh after selling rare Metallica stuff, and rather than pay bills (which was the intention) I bought the rarest & strangest bass I could afford. I took a risk by going on the bay and the colour and condition is very similar to this one. I got mine from a shop in Germany, and people bid after I won it as my reserve just about secured it! By doin' this I took a risk by not picking it up, testing it etc. as I purchased online. The bass is smooth as butter& is now 31 years old. I have no regrets.
6. Well, I think everyone would (probably) have that little bit of adrenalin and be a little psyched up for it. What I find ,is I'll be a little nervous before gig but after the 2nd song I'm beginning to do lots of silly rock poses forthe rest of gig! However, I do what I was told by my mentor. Have 2 drinks before I go on. No more than that tho'
7. Well, what used to work for me were the old ''Hot licks''videos(no not tht kind) which, Basicallyis a i hour video(dvd) of a bass player of the kind of music you like showing various techniques to learn. Alternitavely, if you have reached a plateau and are having difficulty then perhaps seeing a teacher about once weekly should help.
8. "I will survive"(samba version, going into a full blown" MR. Crowley" guitar solo(ozzy)) "Mamma Mia"(probably more commonplace now) I was in a bluesy singles band where the tuning seemed to vary every other week! "The letter"(box tops) was nice to play ,goodness knows what tuning I did that!
9. "stray cat strut" (stray cats)? "Tainted love"(in g)?? "Teenage dirtbag (wheatus)?? Or the usual unplugged type stuff
10. Way too many!! (My signature below should tally up to 9) Still can't play the bass! :brow: My latest purchase is to the left of this post.
11. Burke Shelley? Geddy Lee? (playing a cassette years ago , I was asked by my boss 1 time''who's the chick singing'') Enid from Girlshool?
12. Watched a Billy Sheehan vid ,and basically the idea seems to be to wear bass same seated as standing.I follow that. On a similar subject, I had to play bass for one song at a charity gig 2 weeks ago and used the bassists bass. I used to have same kinda bass(Hohner headless). I normally have it higher than waist level. This one was just set above my kneecaps! I'm 6' but look bigger!(Don't know if this means alot) Anyway ,after 7 beers I went up & played 'you really got me:"VH style. I was ok, but knew the posture for me was wrong:)
13. Schecter Diamond seies....very metal! (may be a little bit bright for you-but you can adjust the tone control knobs)
14.
I used to have one of those in White. Lovley bass. I wish i had kept it now. I think i traded it in at Rock Stop.
They seem to come up alot on flea bay.(alot cheaper than what Ipaid) I remember seeing one in salmon pink(it looked good -really!) I saw a yellow one once and if someone is selling one I would have to have it!
15. Back in the mid-late '80s I bumped into Jim Burns a couple of times in the Angel pub (behind tin pan alley). He was a happy drunk . All I can remember in the drunken conversations we had, was talking about 'Hawaii steel metal'. (he was talking about building Hawaiin guitars. Me being metalhead at the time)..Did I spell Hawaiin right
16. Well I have a Washburn Status.I got it back in the late '80s After a long time the electrics packed up. They are active basses, and a criticism of these basses are that they are 'too bright sounding' However Mr. Graham Noden in Denmark st.(top bloke),deactivated it as the pickups are strong enough to work without a battery. The band love it. Graham also said that in the'80s alot of manufacturers made active basses as a fad and fashion.Maybe he's got a point
17. It doesn't do any harm to bring someone with you, if he/she knows what to look out for in a bass.(action, intonation etc.) If you have someone you look up to whether it's Flea or cronos, you could go for something in that line. At the end of the day,so long as you love it and there are no flaws in it (bowed neck etc) you will make a good purchase. Hope you get a cool bass
18. just got ag500 sc from mistaah benn. Altho'expensive, these amps rawk!

21. So many basses out there, so much choice. In the end,it comes down to what feels/sounds right for the individual buying it. (Gibson Thunderbirds look awesome but are known to have dodgy headstocks etc) People should buy what feels right for them, whether it's brand x or Fender
22. Well here it is. Waddya think? I may be repeating myself if you've seen my other thread .Anyway, it sounds great. The cab I have has no tweeter. I've gone above budget , but it's worth it.(Nice one Benn). Next year I intend to get tweed box for AG 500SC,and cover for cab. Also another DB-112(wow factor etc:) I found rack bag in loft, and was wondering if I have to remove it from bag prior to gigging. I know amp has vents ,so I've probably answered my own question. Phot's from phone, if you wanna see more let me know. Cheers
