  1. listening to any demos on youtube is fairly pointless, it's what it sounds like in a band context that matters, assuming that's what you want it for, for instance I saw a band the other day, when the bass player was setting up his amp it sounded fine but when he played with the band the E string was booming and it disappeared into the mix on the d string
  2. although that's what she said, but what she demonstrated was don't play different open strings without damping, which is correct.
  3. Can't go along with that, may not be his best by a distance, but worst? don't think so, he wrote some real stinkers after the Beatles split
  4. Generally speaking big hits are not the best of anyone's work, high initial impact but soon get tiresome or maybe it's just that we hear them a lot
  5. I thought Forrest Gump wrote the lyrics 😲
  6. I enjoyed it and mostly agree with all of it for beginners, but any intermediate players should have figured these tips out by now otherwise they're not intermediate
  7. this has got to be the cheapest option, I use the version with no expression pedal, exactly the same sounds as the B3, but no DI https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-B1xon-Bass-Multi-Pedal/dp/B00K5LGSDC/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_sims?ie=UTF8
  8. I saw Dr Feelgood at a festival the other year, no original members they were awful the guitarist played nothing like Wilko
  9. When I decided to start playing again after a 25 year break I got in touch with 3 guys over the internet told them about my previous history and the the subject of a band name came up they suggested we use the old band name Verbal Warning even though I'm the only original member and I'm playing Bass instead of guitar. That was 13 years ago and I still get people telling me they saw the original band, nobody cares it's no where near the same band
  10. oh dear, the band I play in always do Jilted John and on occasions All The Small things
  11. bad behaviour has to get more and more outrageous to get noticed (and upset parents) the Pistols Grundy TV interview seems quite tame now
  12. of course one of the reasons Rap might be popular is precisely because it upsets so many middle aged fuddy duddy's, as did Elvis in the mid 50's
  13. sounds like my Dad when he first heard Hendrix
  14. +1, or buy one, I've got one of these, great piece of kit https://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-dept/guitar-wireless-systems/line-6-relay-g10-digital-wireless-guitar-system
  15. his hearing is probably f*cked, treble is the first thing to go, tell him to get a hearing test.
  16. something like this could be the answer https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adhesive-Wheel-Balance-Weights-Strips/dp/B004UADSZA
  17. Pure Highway, its a DAB radio tuner that connects to your existing radio, been discontinued now and replaced by something more expensive but there's similar products out there https://www.amazon.co.uk/Majority-Journey-Bluetooth-Handsfree-Streaming/dp/B07DNH6YQB/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_23_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=0H0K8KBX5MGKPFRDH4A5
  18. That's the trouble as a rule cars don't come with it fitted as standard I've got one of those highway things
  19. there's loads of variety on DAB stations, lots of Rock, but a surprising number of people don't know about it or don't care, and reception in cars is patchy, but on FM it's all the same sort of middle of the road modernish chart stuff, Capital, Heart etc
  20. my thoughts exactly, there's not enough good bands to go round, so people stop going to weekly music venues just to check out the band, I've seen some shockers at a local pub near to me, plus some landlords think it's ok to do things on the cheap by booking acts singing to backing tapes
  21. my MIA P with lightweight tuners has none, ever so slight neck dive on my Vintage V4, as @Misdee says it all about where the strap attaches, I think that's why Fenders have a big horn where the strap attaches to stop neck dive and it works. I've got a Yamaha acoustic which has neck dive, that attaches to the heel of the neck. Epiphone SG's have horrendous neck dive, mine was unplayable, which also attaches to the heel of the neck, why they put it there God alone knows
  22. always rather liked this
  23. unfortunately that is the only P bass that sounds like that
  24. Rock and Roll isn't dead, yet, it's just got old, when bands like the Idles have got boring old farts like us saying they're a breath of fresh air not that many youngster are going to like them and they're the ones that have the time and spare cash to spend, remember why Rock and Roll took off? because all of a sudden teenagers got money in their pockets and their parents hated it. I don't agonise about it just enjoy reliving my youth listening to old music
