  1. this is about right I think, then to complicate things the Mail is probrexit and the Mail on Sunday is pro remain, or is it the other way round now the MoS's editor now runs the Mail?
  2. there's only 3 and does the Star bother with politics at all?
  3. I'm friendly with the guys that run a small brewery who supply beer to spoons, and they are more than happy with the way they do business with them
  4. well each to there own, less queuing time for me 😊, I'm rather fond of their veterinarian lasagne I don't use the one nearest to me very often tbh, it's one of the soulless ones you talk about but there are good ones as well. In Nottingham the Trent Bridge Inn and the Gooseberry Bush are worth a visit I don't think they pay their staff that well, but bar staff don't get good wages anywhere but training and suchlike is good (so I hear) and no zero hours contracts I don't think anyway
  5. there in lies the answer as to why some people don't like him, we do seem to have a culture in this country where anybody who is successful even through their own efforts is despised. Some do deserve it, Maxwell and Green spring to mind. I've never heard bad things about Tim Martin, (doesn't come across very well on TV I'll admit) employs thousands of people and treats them in an above average way by all accounts, and most important of all sells me decent beer at rock bottom prices 😊
  6. so politics aside why is he a complete and utter tool?
  7. I agree with you about the staff, but that's how they keep the prices down, and again some are better than others and if you don't like the coffee don't go in for one, which I assume you don't, I find it perfectly acceptable for a quid a cup with free refills. As regards the buildings, in my experience they usually try and keep the exterior in sympathy with what was there before, if it's worth keeping, obviously the interior has to be changed As you've probably gathered I use them a lot, cheap good quality real ales, and decent food, whenever I'm visiting an area for the first time I always find out where the nearest one is
  8. I think that sort of thing could happen in any crowded pub/club in certain areas (city centres?), there are many good Wetherspoons that are not situated in those sort of areas
  9. I think that, maybe, some of the sniffy comments on Wetherspoons has more to do with Tim Martin being a staunch Brexiteer than the way the pub chain is run, not sure how we got here from the Mail and John Deacon though
  10. is there anything wrong with Wetherspoons supporting British Jobs?
  11. well I wouldn't pay money for it, but it's free online, so I have a quick scan through it, amongst all the dross there's sometimes something worth reading. Apparently it has the biggest online readership in the world and I've been told the online version is different from the printed one though I couldn't say
  12. just read it, don't think it's that bad, people will be interested in why he chooses to live a quiet lifestyle, I am, and he appears content, good for him. Far far from a hatchet job, the worst comment comes from Taylor calling him a sociopath, he doesn't seem to hold any grudges giving May and Taylor giving permission to do what they want with the Queen brand name. In some ways the article is sympathetic to his lifestyle choice.
  13. Can you get earplugs on the NHS? or have I misread it, I too have got NHS hearing aids, I've just changed to the latest ones, a big improvement, not nearly as harsh sounding as my old ones
  14. well I have both, use the Behringer for home practice but the Zoom B1on for gigs because of the ability to change patches and has a tuner, both brilliant VFM but the Zoom wins for me because of its versatility, but if you're content with just one setting the Behringer's for you
  15. Ours does, he's always changing something. Fundamentally, he and anybody else who changes gear regularly thinks the perfect sound is just round the corner, it never is. The number one rule about gear is, it nearly always sounds better when someone else is playing with it
  16. good buy, once you get your head round changing the settings it's just the same sounds as a B3, I've been using one for a few years now 🙂
  17. As I've said before, this is my experience with custom ear plugs, horrible feeling of detachment, gone back to generic ones, I suppose if the band had a full in ear set up it might be different but we only use them for vocals (and not then if we're using the venue's PA), I've found snug fitting in ear phones do the job as well though, having said that the singer can't get on with those, depends on your ears I suppose
  18. I've got MIA P and a Vintage V4, there's little difference between the two sound wise or playability, I make just a many mistakes whichever one I use
  19. Don't know about anybody else but I control the effect of the ear plugs by how far I have them shoved into my ears
  20. I've had tinnitus in one ear for years, I tried the ACS custom ones, but didn't find them any better than the generic 'christmas tree' ones, my tinitus has not got any worse, any earplugs are going to do the job, at a recent gig I forgot to put them in after the break, it was painful without them, they take off the top end which is handy when you've got a drummer that hits the cymbals as hard as ours does.
  21. I know what like in a bassist, and that's being able to hear all the notes and not just and indistinct low end rumble, which happens a lot
  22. because people usually decide to start recording a band they are enjoying before they know what the song is and only you and the band noticed the mistake, a thing that is even worse is when they post a terrible sounding video on youtube because their phones aren't up to it, less of a problem these days because phones are better, there's 3 awful ones of us on youtube somewhere, thankfully not many views edit, and no I'm not posting a link 😊
  23. Mine would be booming all over the place with yours, shows the value of a good EQ maybe we should start a new thread, "show us your Trace EQ setting" 😊 edit, mines not always that flat depends on the room, but I always have the 30 and 40Hz sliders right down
  24. interesting EQ settings, here's mine from last night (no presets engaged)
  25. I had the same weight issues when I had a TE combo, loved the tone but not the weight, I've solved it by getting a TE GP12 head (well 2 actually) both weigh around 14KG easy one handed lift and light weight cabs
