  1. something like this could be the answer https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adhesive-Wheel-Balance-Weights-Strips/dp/B004UADSZA
  2. Pure Highway, its a DAB radio tuner that connects to your existing radio, been discontinued now and replaced by something more expensive but there's similar products out there https://www.amazon.co.uk/Majority-Journey-Bluetooth-Handsfree-Streaming/dp/B07DNH6YQB/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_23_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=0H0K8KBX5MGKPFRDH4A5
  3. That's the trouble as a rule cars don't come with it fitted as standard I've got one of those highway things
  4. there's loads of variety on DAB stations, lots of Rock, but a surprising number of people don't know about it or don't care, and reception in cars is patchy, but on FM it's all the same sort of middle of the road modernish chart stuff, Capital, Heart etc
  5. my thoughts exactly, there's not enough good bands to go round, so people stop going to weekly music venues just to check out the band, I've seen some shockers at a local pub near to me, plus some landlords think it's ok to do things on the cheap by booking acts singing to backing tapes
  6. my MIA P with lightweight tuners has none, ever so slight neck dive on my Vintage V4, as @Misdee says it all about where the strap attaches, I think that's why Fenders have a big horn where the strap attaches to stop neck dive and it works. I've got a Yamaha acoustic which has neck dive, that attaches to the heel of the neck. Epiphone SG's have horrendous neck dive, mine was unplayable, which also attaches to the heel of the neck, why they put it there God alone knows
  7. always rather liked this
  8. unfortunately that is the only P bass that sounds like that
  9. Rock and Roll isn't dead, yet, it's just got old, when bands like the Idles have got boring old farts like us saying they're a breath of fresh air not that many youngster are going to like them and they're the ones that have the time and spare cash to spend, remember why Rock and Roll took off? because all of a sudden teenagers got money in their pockets and their parents hated it. I don't agonise about it just enjoy reliving my youth listening to old music
  10. another 'memorable' gig I just remembered, back in 1981 when we'd just started playing (I use the term loosely) we had a benefit gig for some unemployment rally, I think they were recreating the Jarrow Hunger March, anyway, our singer decided to stir things up by saying "We're glad Bobby Sands is dead" or something like that, unaware that there were some Irish Republicans in the crowd, we were quickly shown the back door as we came off stage and I can still see the drummer running up the road with all his (small) kit stuffed into the bass drum. I wasn't far behind and the singer had long gone
  11. charity gig at the Vic in Derby, last on (no, not headlining!) hardly anybody left, used borrowed backline, awful sound on stage, and the sound engineer seemed to be on a mission to take out everybody's spleen with the bass drum, about the only time I couldn't wait to get off stage, we haven't played there since
  12. like any other form of music it doesn't appeal to everyone, although it seem to be more 'marmite' than most, not for me, but I do play a bit of Jazz, when I accidentally hit an entirely inappropriate note : )
  13. once you've got a good one I think they're fairly reliable, if they're going to fail I suspect it happens straight away
  14. I think I read somewhere that cheaper units use components that have bigger tolerances
  15. I've come across this with my SMX GP12 AH 250, it once failed mid gig (or the cable to the PA did, after fiddling about and swapping heads it worked ok so not sure why)) I have had issues with low signal from the DI, or the sound man has, (I've tried it at home and it seemed fine to me) I've also got a series 6 GP12, never had any issues with the DI so I take that head when I know we're going through a full PA
  16. I think with all Behringer stuff there's a chance of getting a dud, they use cheaper components (obviously) and quality control is a bit iffy, bit of a faff but you can just send it back and get another one.
  17. BETTER DEAL HERE https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-Modeler-Guitar-Effects-Pedal/dp/B000KIPUQG edit, I'm not shouting, left the caps lock on 🙂
  18. Another Vote for Vintage V4's here, just bought a lefty on impulse off ebay, glad I did, now it's set up it plays as well as my USA P, frets not finished off as well and tuners are bit stiff but that's about it, I've played it twice now at gigs and in some ways I think I prefer it to my Fender Precision, it has more 'bark' to it
  19. that never occurred to me, glad I'm wireless, perhaps I should get a wireless mic too, although I do try and avoid touching the mic with my lips, especially venue mics 😝
  20. they are, bit like we're supposed to have PAT testing I suspect.
  21. we use this mixer amp, and have had trouble with venue wiring, shocks and funny noises after one gig, we took it in for repair, nothing wrong, try it at home or practice see if it still happens
  22. there biggest hit, as big a travesty as Chuck Berry's being My Ding a Ling 😞
  23. yep I've just bought a Vintage V4 (new lefty) for £200 and more then happy, the finish is not as good as my USA P obviously, didn't really have a set up, but that was from new, but it's got a nice P bass bark to it and now it's set up plays just as well as my Fender Precision, a great back up bass for me
  24. I set my P up in line with Fender recommendations, 2.5mm at the 17th fret on the E string, they should know they built it, I would think too low an action means a very light touch all the time which will take the dynamics out of your playing, plus I very rarely go down the dusty end so lowering the action has less effect anyway, apart from loads of fret buzz
  25. sold my stingray for £650 about 5 years ago, too much twang and not enough growl for me, these are way overpriced IMO. Check out the overplaying thread, this guy certainly need too
