  1. I was under the impression that the AH200 was actually 150 watts at 8 ohm, but I could be wrong. When I did my totally unscientific test I used my 2 Fender Rumble V2 cabs so all amps were under a 4 ohm load with the gains and volume controls on full and EQ's flat apart from the very bottom end end taken off I could record them all using a mic in the room but tbh I fear for the health of my Rumble cabs with the Trace SMX AH250 at full volume. Edit, the Ashdown amp is a AMB EVO III 500, not an MB
  2. I have 2 Trace amps, a series 6 GP12 AH200 and a GP12SMX AH250, I recently bought a Ashdown EVO III 500, just to compare it and have a newer amp (and it was cheap). Turned them all up to full, the AH200 is slightly louder than the Ashdown and the AH250 very noticeably louder. So I guess it is true, there's watts and then there's Trace watts
  3. apologies, didn't see the 's' didn't even know it was out, looks like they've learnt from the issues with the G10, but it is nearly twice the price which takes in to competition with a lot of other wireless systems. Personally, when I get another one it'll be something like the Boss WL20 where you don't have a bulky receiver at all
  4. that would probably work, but you might need a bit more than gaffer tape, as I said before the problem is the power socket is attached to the circuit board with no other support so any flexing with eventually result in a poor connection to the circuit board or where the plug goes into the socket, anybody who has had problems charging their mobile phone will know the problem
  5. major design flaw with the G10, mines still ok with the above mod I did, our guitarist has just ditched his because of this fault
  6. thanks for those links, like them both, but therein lies the problem, there's that much stuff out there because it's so easy to produce a recording it destroys the will to search it out because there's so much dross to wade through, rather like all the channels and streaming services on TV, the choice is overwhelming. BTW, what's with the capo on the bass?
  7. DR Neons, I use them all the time, very punk rock, I get far more comments about strings than my bass playing
  8. this typical GAS, we all do it, an idea worms it's way into your brain and you've got to get one and try it out, then you usually (but not always) find it's not for you after all, but hey, if it's second hand you won't lose much money on it when you move it on
  9. I had a Rumble for a while, moved it on because the build quality was a bit iffy, and although it's light, it's still deep and with just the handle on the top it's not that easy to carry around, wasn't impressed by the drive section either. But there's obviously a lot of love out there for them, they are light and loud.
  10. We've used one of these powered mixer amps for about 12 years, no problem for pub venues, we use Wharfedale Titan 15's, wish we'd bought 12's now,, I'm the one that has to store and carry them , and cheapo no name monitors, we do mic up the bass drum (along with 3 vocals mics), it doesn't boost the bass drum much but it keeps the drummer happy 😄
  11. I used combo's for a long time, then I discovered Trace Elliot, combos way too heavy , so now I use a Trace head with light weight cabs, certainly gives you more options using a separate head and cabs, might not be a good thing though 🙄
  12. Rebellion for me is just too much, hundreds of bands and dodgy sound, people rushing from one venue to the other the whole thing is just to big and busy for me, I went a couple of years ago and spent most of my time in the pub round the corner with the intention of popping back to see the bands I fancied but invariable finished up staying in the pub. Much prefer the more laid back vibe of the Butlins Alternative weekends. But, best of luck to Knock Off and Headsticks
  13. Been messing about with my Zoom B1on with while playing guitar, got some reasonable sounds out of it, got me thinking, is there much difference between the G1on and the B1on? or any other Zoom bass and equivalent guitar pedal
  14. I sent the amp back to Ashdown, I chickened out of not insuring it so it cost me £18, just had a phone call saying they've fixed it, no charge, a 2p resister had failed, so another 👍 for Ashdown.
  15. if I worried about my kock ups, I'd never set foot on a stage again , truth is, hardly anybody (in the crowd) notices them
  16. I had the 2 x 10 combo version, very good amp once I got past the build quality issues, the only reason I moved it on was because of the weight
  17. I love gigging that much I do regular open mics playing acoustic guitar and singing, my partner on drums, in some ways it's more enjoyable than the band gigs, no setting up just turn up and plug in, no pay so no pressure, have a few pints chat with other open micers and spend the night in the pub
  18. as others have said, if it wasn't for gigs I wouldn't pick my bass up, sure there's bad gigs and hassle, getting there, setting up, hanging around (and worse, getting home afterwards) but when you get a good gig, for me, it makes it all worthwhile. Don't really like recording loads of hanging around while others do their bits, and don't get me started on the mixing, very boring
  19. cheers, which courier and how much?
  20. Our last guitarist refused to do Peaches because of the lyrics, I just thought they were just about some bloke walking along the beach thinking what most blokes do when they're walking along a crowded beach if we're being honest, and not being all PC. A lot has changed since 1977 I much preferred Rattus to No More Heroes, the story goes they were both recorded at the same time, the best tracks going on Rattus, when it was a success they quickly released the rest with No More Heroes and Something Better Change added
  21. exactly, anyone whose has charged up a smartphone with this sort of connector knows how flimsy they are, that's the design flaw, which is a real shame and idiotic, because the rest of it is really well thought out
  22. it's not just falling out, the socket is just soldiered onto the circuit board with no other support, so eventually a poor connection results
  23. yes it would be fine just for home use, but the rough and tumble of doing gigs with it exposes the design flaw, shame because apart from that it's excellent
  24. don't know whether you saw my earlier post about the flimsy power supply socket, it will probably fail without some sort of support bracket, both me and the guitarist had to do this, apart from that it is an excellent unit with no other issues that I have found even when we were both using them at the same time
  25. Not advocating it but I've had non payment on two things I was selling on ebay recently, ebay didn't seem bothered in the slightest, more interested in making sure I relisted
