if somebody had the time to take out all slanderous and frankly unnecessary posts (a big job) it could be a worthwhile thread, I lost interest about half way through, it just turned into what a (insert any word you want) Mick Martin is fest, yeah we sort of know that, it doesn't need repeating a couple of hundred times

it's bound to happen sooner or later that maybe because they got away with stuff years ago because there wasn't the same media scrutiny, today every mistake is analysed intensely because of 24 hour rolling news, they've got to talk about something

nobody said there wouldn't be any short term disruption while everybody got used to new rules, some think it is worthwhile for the, hopefully, long term benefits, others use any problems as proof that we shouldn't have left the EU

Well I agree, I wouldn't buy vinyl now but I'm not a materialistic person, but a lot of people would and do, and if it puts more money into the pockets of artists I'm all for it, because streaming certainly doesn't

I had a feeling this would turn into a discussion about sound quality, I've said it before, most people aren't that bothered about the nuances of the sound, took me a while but I realised your mood and the atmosphere are more important when listening to music, I bet most of us have really enjoyed a track more, played on a crappy pub jukebox because we've had a couple of beers and out with mates. If putting a record on a turntable and listening to the stylus hitting the vinyl increases your listening pleasure then so be it.

all my bass playing heroes use a pick J J Burnel Bruce Foxton, Macca and playing in a punk band I've never even considered using fingers, I did try when we had to learn Stand By Me for a wedding but volume issues got in the way for just for one song, although I could have done it, and I can finger pick on acoustic guitar, when I see other bass players using fingers it never looks as cool to me (personal preference I know) and usually, but not always, the bass sounds a bit woolly to my ears. I use a luminous .94mm nylon Dunlops, used to use black 1mm but if I could never find them at dark pub gigs 😊

I too thought the lyrics were good, a heartfelt blast at a ridiculously high tax rate, not sure what the conflict was, apart from an awful version of the song I think SRV just took out the "Taxman Mr Heath Taxman Mr Wilson" bit, politically neutral, though very dated which is probably why he left them out

once had a guy come up to me and say "You only play bass cause it's easy" I just agreed with him and said "yeah, there's only 4 strings to worry about" but at least he recognised me as the bass player

you don't get many cover version of Help, it's really hard to sing, that high note "Won't you PLEASE help me" is out of the range of most singers unless you alter the melody of course

I bought a gear4music acoustic, about £75, it was nearly unplayable, I sent it back

I suppose I don't much of problem with bands with no original members as long as I know they've got no original members and they sound ok, The Members don't and neither did Dr Feelgood when I saw them, they're taking money under false pretences. They're basically a very poor tribute band

it depends if the bass player hides at the back or puts a bit of a show on, they'll notice them if they prance around a bit (like Flea, extreme example), and make an effort to dress a bit differently, but if they stay at the back staring at your fret board what do they expect?, I wouldn't have recognised Alex James either but I'm not a big Blur fan. But yes, the singer gets most of the attention because they are the focal point edit, now the Drummer has real problems 😄

I suppose the obvious one is Joe Cocker's With a Little Help From My Friends because it was completely different from the Beatles version. Favourite of mine is Souxsie and the Banshees doing Dear Prudence

I think we've had this discussion before on a similar thread, as far as I'm concerned it's from when the band achieved some sort of commercial success

I had one of these for a few years (MB4210), the only reason I got rid was because of the weight, build quality not the best, but a bit like Behringer stuff faults occurred early on, after that they were ok, bit plasticky but they were relatively inexpensive at the time, always got a good sound of of it and bloody loud

must admit I can't tell the difference between 320 or 192bps mp3's (although I can tell when it gets down to 128bps) or lossless like wav files or even CD's, but then I do wear hearing aids. I used to be a bit of an audio file and agonise over what piece of equipment sounded best, it can be a curse

yes, I've just bought a new laptop, had to get an external USB drive for it, only £12 though, CD's are on the way out but they'll probably be a revival in about 20 years 😂

depends on numbers, for a small band with limited sales the unit cost of producing CD's is lower, and we've sold a lot more of them than the Vinyl version, mostly at gigs, granted Vinyl comes down the more you produce, more so than CD's edit, I remember when CD's first came out, they were about 15 quid and Vinyl about a tenner
