  1. that's happened to us a few times, regarding venues with dodgy electrics, that's one of the reasons I went wireless
  2. no, just the power supply needs testing
  3. I use Audacity for doing band demos, it's good enough for that unless you're using virtual instruments, I tried Reaper, couldn't get on with it I found it very unintuitive, proper DAW's do loads of stuff I don't really have any use for.
  4. went to see our singers other band last night, originally it was scheduled for outside, then moved inside because it might rain, it didn't, but it was hot and sweaty and it's only a small narrow room so it was fairly crowded inside, I've had both jabs but I was less than comfortable in there, people were pushing past all night to get to the bar or the toilets, and as you'd expect with loud music there was a lot of shouting with the spitting that goes with it, we moved to the back of the room after about half an hour, I'm a lot more comfortable on stage than off it
  5. no problems with customs? with it coming from the EU, like additional charges
  6. the only ad I see is for Basschat strap locks, I'm with @Stingray's friend, I don't mind ads, unless they get stupid like erectile dysfunction, I don't want reminding of that thank you very much 😂
  7. I would say if you keep the volume down you won't do any more damage
  8. I've always got a set of earplugs in my wallet, I never forget that 😀. I did try the moulded ACS earplugs, never got on with them, to difficult to take in and out, I couldn't hear normal conversation with them in and when lost one I didn't bother replacing them, I've been using the generic ACS ER20's, easy to take out to hear what someone is saying, and as I said earlier in the thread, my hearing hasn't got any worse while using them
  9. I've got a friend who got when he fell over in the bathroom and banged his head on the toilet bowl
  10. probably just showing off, seeing as he wasn't actually playing, I mean, St Bob was playing Sax on a candelabra 😃
  11. I've had odd tinitus for years, just one ear and it buzzes for about 10 seconds then disappears for differing lengths of time, sometimes hours sometimes 30 seconds, according to the audiologist I got it at work, I used to be a car mechanic, the good news is I just use normal earplugs, the Christmas tree type (and take my hearing aids out) and it's not got any worse for about 15 years and I went for a hearing check up recently and my hearing hasn't deteriorated in the last 5 years either
  12. and me, never occurred to me it was slap until this thread popped up
  13. Funnily enough I was watching Hail Hail rock n roll the other day, the look on Keefs face as he turns away is priceless
  14. early Rats Stuff was punk, Mary of the 4th Form etc, but they did start move away from it with this and then I don't like Mondays, but then again what is punk? edit, having said that the lyrics are very punk rock
  15. It's just people covering their backs, in this compensation culture age we live in who can blame them?
  16. I've just watched the Chuck Berry film , very enjoyable, the man was a genius, he had it all, great guitarist, lyricist and what showman, I'd not seen it before, although a lot of the clips had been taken from other films and interviews I had seen, especially Hail Hail Rock n roll
  17. a Chuck Berry film on tonight just after midnight, King of Rock n Roll, don't think I've seen it before, anybody that likes Rock music should be eternally grateful to the cantankerous pervert that was Chuck Berry
  18. there's not enough lefties in the world so welcome, my advice for what it's worth is to start with something really simple just to get a feel for it and get your left hand (in our Case) moving freely without thinking about it, whether with a pick or fingers, my simple was Blitzkrieg Bop, of course you could be further on then this already, in which case ignore me
  19. attitude to risk is everything, I'm very risk tolerant whereas my partner is very risk averse, I suggested going to a local pub tonight to see a band, but she's worried it might be too crowded in spite of having had both jabs, might go on my own
  20. I've had 2 jabs, and have the NHS app to prove it if anybody asks, so I'm not stressed about it, nobody in the band has mentioned having tests (the 2 younger members have only had 1 jab), I know some people who've come to our gigs are anti vaccine, that's their problem, the chances of me getting it badly if at all are very low, having said that I'm avoiding physical connect wherever possible, which suits me, I'm not a hugger
  21. always been quite impressed by Bill's bassline on I Wanna Be Your Man
  22. saw your gig at Nah Then, nice to have a chat btw, your sound wasn't the best, loads of drums and vocals not much guitar and bass, the sound all weekend was very up and down, each band seem to have a different sound, well the ones I heard anyway, very strange The onstage sound for our gig was ok, not much guitar, but that's ok as long as I can hear the drums and vocals, the closing band was a very professional, Madness tribute (the guitarist was about to go on tour with the Specials and the keyboard player had played with the Manics) I assume the had there own sound guy they were using in ears and their sound was spot on
  23. must admit he went up in my estimation with his rant at Rebellion 2015, telling all the punks they were just wearing the punk uniform of black band T shirts and leather jackets, and they booed him, forgetting entirely that punk is about not conforming, in the beginning anyway
  24. being a lefty I found (seriously) a right handed Encore P copy leaning next to the bin at a flat I rented out when the tenant left, thought I'll have a go at playing right handed, I soon gave up, still got the Encore, it's not that bad a bass, for free
