Very nice. A couple of LEDs set behind the Pickguard and the whole body could gently glow with internal illumination.

Was: From the ashes of disaster...now various projects
Richard R replied to Dom in Dorset's topic in Build Diaries
Hopefully you don't play with your bass hung down by your crotch. Otherwise, with the bass camouflaged in denim against your jeans, people may be unsure what your fingers are doing. A small risk, but nonetheless one that should be considered. -
Welcome aboard!! Scotts Bass Lessons is excellent, but his style is not to everyone 's taste. A genuinely free and excellent site is StudyBass.com. Few videos, but very good explanations. Definitely check out the first sessions on holding the bass, using the strap, hand positioning and avoiding injury. Especially the latter. And enjoy yourself!

Welcome aboard. There are a lot of church and worship bassists on BC. In fact there is a long running Playing In Church thread which is worth picking up. ( Though sometimes it is a bit of a "safe space" to vent frustration 😬). You could repost.or link to this question there and get some additional views. If the hymnal includes the chords above the stave then you can work from those, or if the songs are out of copyright then there may be chord charts available in the correct key on CCLI or the US equivalent.

This is exactly the sort of can-do and will-do attitude that we need in these desperate times. And of course that means another build diary 🥳

I was sent this image on WhatsApp this just now, which coincidentally is an accurate analogy of my playing this evening. Well intentioned but with a fundamental problem...

What are you listening to right now?

Which naturally lead me to revisit this: "Well this dish is too hot You'll never guess what I've got Joy Division oven gloves If it's her desire I'll put my fingers in the fire 'Cos I've got Joy Division oven gloves I've got Joy Division oven gloves" -

Ah - that would make sense. @Stub Mandrel - is #19 your good lady, sensibly hiding behind S'manth? -
Birmingham hols match Nottingham, and probably eveywhere else this year. 22nd it is then. 👍 Exact times TBC.

Thanks Pete, Probably worth hiring for all day, running the bash something like 10-3, then an hour to take down and clear up. Will look at school holidays, but probably later in April is better. Definitely not Easter weekend, we'd all be in trouble then 😋

Turns out I can edit a post up to 4.2 billion years after creation, plus or minus a few days. The James Webb Telescope is looking back in time to see @ped's first post. -

I have a set of feeler gauges last used to set the points on VW polo in winter 1991. Then sat unused until I did a complete setup on the bass 2 years ago. The bass is due another one, but I can't recall what I actually used the guages for. The action's low, but not that low. -
Gail Ann Dorsey, excellent player. Good interview with her here on the SBL podcasts: https://scottsbasslessons.com/podcast/in-conversation-with-gail-ann-dorsey-from-bowie-to-brooklyn The video is members only, the audio is free, and all the podcasts are available on the usual channels. This year's aren't up to much TBH, but some great interviews in the archive.
