  1. The easiest way to record your band live - straight from the desk! Plug in, power up, press record. For Sale is a Cymatic LR-16 Multitrack recorder, plus 2x8way insert looms. The LR-16 is designed to plug straight into the insert points on a mixing desk, and records to a fast USB stick or a USB HDD. The device is designed to be simple to use, hit record and forget about it until the end of the night. Recordings are 16-track, 44.1 or 48 kHz, and 16 or 24-bit recording (if the HDD media is fast enough to sustain it). Inputs can be at mic level, or padded if necessary, and there is a headphone output for monitoring. The device can also be used as a 16-in 2-out USB interface for a PC. This particular one served for many years plugged into the Allen & Heath desk at my church, recording multitrack recordings of the bands for special services or when they wanted to record songs specially. It was retired when the desk dies and was replaced with a full digital desk. I made a lot of recordings with this over the years, and provided the USB was formatted correctly on the LR-16, and was fast enough, I had no problems with drop out or glitches even over 2hrs+ recording. (Like any audio equipment that writes to USB, it prefers fast media, and some brands to others. SanDisk was always OK) As far as I can tell everything works (see the photographs of power up and menu options). I will try to test it and confirm. I have included the looms, so all you need to record your band live is a desk with insert points on the channels, and a USB Hard drive. There is a bit of fluff on the body, but everything is clean. Note: There are no preamps in the device, it uses the desk preamps. Note also that yes it does connect to the INSERT points, not the direct out or other channel outs. This is a deliberate design decision as it means that simple TRS-TRS leads can be used to connect up. There is a good review of the LR-16 here: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/cymatic-audio-lr16 These have recently sold on Reverb for ~£275, so priced to sell and including the box, psu and looms. Either collection from Solihull, or I can post at buyer's expense.
  2. @Stealth, therell be space. Look forward to seeing you there. 🙂
  3. Always fancied trying one of these.
  4. was it the same black cat? Yea!
  5. Welcome aboard!
  6. Might be that there is just too much else going on from the other instruments and they need the low frequency cutting back to make space for the bass? You can cut the bass as well, oddly enough, and that can tighten up the sound. I usually boost a small amount about 800Hz, depending on what else is going on. I'm fortunate, I do sound in the same church, so I know the venue and the players. Doing FOH for a band changing venues every night would be a much harder job.
  7. Just as an update. I met Chris from Smooth Hound at The Guitar Show in March, I specifically went to that stand as I hoped to try one out. He said that he's not making the Smooth Hound units at the moment, and hasn't been for a year or so. However he does hope to start making them available again later this year. Check the web site periodically if you specifically want that unit.
  8. PM incomming. If it's Rishi Sunak then don't let him in!
  9. Welcome aboard! Lots of 5 string choice on the marketplace at the moment!
  10. I'd like to see a Kramer, so if you're able to bring it that would be great. There will be plenty of amps to try it in. If it's a pain to bring then don't worry, it will be good to see you. Meeting up is the main thing, the gear is just an excuse
  11. There are some cracking songs in this thread, mostly new to me. A party band playing disco songs that most of the audience have never heard of would be a interesting sell, until after the first two songs then everyone would be up on the dance floor and not care. 🕺
  12. 24% Buyer's Premium! That's quite a profit for the auction house.
  13. Very impressed! Nice work.
  14. Great basses, but suffer from neck-dive due to the 14" headstock required to accommodate the logo.
  15. As the dude who does FOH sound and plays bass, I can safely say that in my mixes you can tell the difference between a Rickenbacker, a Precision type thing and a Jazz type thing, if you’re really listening, but not between individual makes unless one is utterly carp. However one lad at church has started playing a much nicer bass than his first one, and his playing is now better and more interesting. On that basis alone the more expensive bass is worth it.

  17. I wish I could do that at work!
  18. I can't make this date, but have a great time everyone. 👍
  19. Could you get to the Midlands Bash in Nottingham on 22 April?
  20. I tried to PM @ped on a few occasions, but it simply wouldn't accept him as a recipient! Hence giving up. BC ones are better, and can be used to repair walking boots too.
  21. Following with interest 👍
  22. I think @AlexanderJersem was replying to the original post, and possibly had missed quite how far the thread has moved on since then. Easily done, unless one wants to wade through 40 pages.
  23. The big advantage I can think of for a capo on a 4 string is being able to tune to D or Eb and use capo for normal tuning and key changes, as others have said. Playing 4 string also makes learning from Tab easier. I play 5 string, because church worship bands often change keys to suit the singers/congregation. I can't read most 4 string Tab as it confuses my brain cell.
  24. Just seen this is your first post on BC - Welcome to the forum! Lots of friendly folks here. Do hop over to the Introductions thread and say Hi there as well, and post pics of any nice gear of course.
