  1. 24% Buyer's Premium! That's quite a profit for the auction house.
  2. Very impressed! Nice work.
  3. Great basses, but suffer from neck-dive due to the 14" headstock required to accommodate the logo.
  4. As the dude who does FOH sound and plays bass, I can safely say that in my mixes you can tell the difference between a Rickenbacker, a Precision type thing and a Jazz type thing, if you’re really listening, but not between individual makes unless one is utterly carp. However one lad at church has started playing a much nicer bass than his first one, and his playing is now better and more interesting. On that basis alone the more expensive bass is worth it.
  5. https://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?sts=t&cm_sp=SearchF-_-home-_-Results&tn=The Fender Bass - An Illustrated History Not that expensive on Abe Books.
  6. I wish I could do that at work!
  7. I can't make this date, but have a great time everyone. 👍
  8. Could you get to the Midlands Bash in Nottingham on 22 April?
  9. I tried to PM @ped on a few occasions, but it simply wouldn't accept him as a recipient! Hence giving up. BC ones are better, and can be used to repair walking boots too.
  10. Following with interest 👍
  11. I think @AlexanderJersem was replying to the original post, and possibly had missed quite how far the thread has moved on since then. Easily done, unless one wants to wade through 40 pages.
  12. The big advantage I can think of for a capo on a 4 string is being able to tune to D or Eb and use capo for normal tuning and key changes, as others have said. Playing 4 string also makes learning from Tab easier. I play 5 string, because church worship bands often change keys to suit the singers/congregation. I can't read most 4 string Tab as it confuses my brain cell.
  13. Just seen this is your first post on BC - Welcome to the forum! Lots of friendly folks here. Do hop over to the Introductions thread and say Hi there as well, and post pics of any nice gear of course.
  14. Thanks Pete. Hope the new job goes well. If you and I, and Frank if he's already in Nottingham that morning, are there before 10 then we can work out if we want to divide the room at all, set up tables for Andy's demo and the raffle, make sure the kettle's on and generally get things sorted ahead of time. 24x8 is loads of space, plenty of room to grow. I got some cheap lanyards from Amazon, so we can translate forum names to real names.
  15. It looks much better with the bridge moved back. I would skip the pickguard too, those stripes are neat. Nice bass, glad it sounds good too.
  16. Welcome aboard! Nice collection, and if you amassed those in just three years, you'll fit right in here. 😁
  17. Heresy! Where are the mods when we need them??
  18. Welcome aboard! Any of the above will be good choices, as would any Yamaha. If you can get up to somewhere that has a biggish music shop then playing a few will help narrow things down a bit. Otherwise Squire, HB etc etc. are all decent enough. Whatever you buy, leave it out on a stand ready to pick up and play, if you can. And have fun.
  19. Welcome aboard!
  20. Welcome aboard! I love Belgium as well, though I've not been back in about 20 years. Lived in Leuven for four months as part of my PhD, and since then one of my oldest friends has moved out that way.
  21. It's the cooler air sinking into the Vale. Welcome to Meteorological Chat, Steve!
  22. Welcome back!
  23. Welcome aboard. Great name, I wish I had thought of that one 👍
  24. Just getting final confirmation on start time with @petecarlton, then we'll post with due fanfare, bunting, etc etc.
  25. Kick off the Raffle: - Digitech RP80 effects pedal.
