  1. @velvetkevorkian- which did you pick and how have you got on?
  2. Welcome aboard! Suggest you follow this thread: @Stub Mandrelis sorting out a Bass Bash for S Wales, but there are others as well. 👍
  3. I use a tuner pedal, then usually DI into the desk. Anyone with a passive bass uses the Behringer BDi21, either just as an active DI to buffer the signal or as an amp modeller. Cheap and cheerful, but actually pretty good.
  4. I rather like that album. It's fundamentally flawed, but you can hear something of where they would head later. Jonathan King produced it.
  5. Living Next Door to Alice - that's a song I've not heard in a while! I first heard it on a Friday night at the Frog and Frigate in Southampton, probably 1986. You know the sort of pub where the floor is sticky with beer and sweat and you're so tightly packed you can't move? Well that was true for all of us standing on the tables as well. In that environment it's a great song!
  6. It was great - a really happy and joyous celebration. The bride is from our church, the groom from Texas, they met in Austria and planned to get married in 2019 in Solihull. Things got very complicated with visas, so they were actually married in July 2019 in the Cayman islands with just parents as witnesses, the plan being to then celebrate back here in 2020. Other things got in the way. So having been married nearly three years they finally had the church wedding celebration. A good day - and a really nice change from all the funerals I have done tech for over the past two years.
  7. Listening to the band final run through before a wedding at 12:30 today. Heavenly!
  8. Thanks for the list. I play mainly in church, or blues for my own amusement, that's a completely different selection to learn. I reckon I should be able to muddle through those by Christmas - with the exception of those 10 seconds in the middle of Call Me Al!
  9. From "Bacon Sanwiches and Salvation", by Adrian Plass.
  10. I really like this whole concert, and the third CD is just superb. Definitely on the buy list.
  11. Apple Music seems to me to be pretty hopeless when it comes to album release years. I'm forever correcting one of my friends who uses it.
  12. Yes this place has changed: Now it's an awesome community. And no doubt even more so with your return. 😁
  13. I had finally figured out how to justify this earlier in the month. 😃 And then I was made redundant. 😠
  14. On the other side of the equation: We expanded our band for last Sunday to include a sax and, more importantly for me, a drummer! It was a celebration service for our minister who retired that weekend, and I have to say it was great!
  15. McCartney's set at Glastonbury. Great set, and love the drummer's expressions!
  16. Very tactful! Like that approach 👌
  17. It is annoying. There is something peculiar about church bands that seems to provide fertile ground for seeds of discord and anger. I wrote an email last night about the stage layout and activities comming up in the next month. Knowing how this pushes people's buttons and causes grief in our church I signed off with "Please consider the problem and pray before you reply." Hopefully we get to a harmonious decision quickly.
  18. You started this thread in Jan 2020, I bet you never expected then to wait nearly 18 months before playing live with the band!
  19. Very impressive! I'm surprised that the printed components have the required strength. Most of what I've seen printed has next to no strength and certainly wouldn't hold anything under tension.
  20. Worst case scenario- Trampa has become sentient and taken over the CNC machine to create an army of killer instruments. S'manth has had to take on Sarah Connor's role and is fighting back with the mantra "There is no bass but what we make". Sorry, it's been a long day.
