  1. Ah, now I get it! It is funny, I'm just not with it. 😁 In defence of my sluggishness - I have driven home from Dundee to Birmingham today and between tiredness from the drive and the monstrous heat down here compared to up there (34°C vs 18°C) my brain is running v e r y s l o w l y.
  2. Welcome aboard! "Guitars are Good. Basses are Better." Glad you've now got that sorted, and looking forward to reading the build diaries.
  3. My favourite playing shirt. Shame there isn't a 5 string version though.
  4. My son had this printed up for me for my birthday. It's from xkcd.com/2038, and is the symbol for a radioactive, high voltage, laser emitting biohazard that also coats the floor and makes it slippy. The only thing more dangerous than my playing.
  5. Bloody hell! Glad you got out safely.
  6. Welcome aboard! Most of us are probably a little unsound to be honest! However unlike many other sites this one is entirely flame-free* and unfailingly helpful. 😎 The mods walk softly, but carry very big fire extinguishers.
  7. And now for something completely different: Adam Wakeman may have been rocking out with Ozzie on Monday evening, but this is (allegedly!) the original version of that song 😃
  8. Do you ever take an easy route, @Sman1992?
  9. Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony. Should be an interesting selection.
  10. As long as you don't have Sandra Dickinson in the basement providing commentary...
  11. These remind me of Trillian's steadily dropping probability readings when Ford and Arthur are picked up by The Heart of Gold. "Probability 3:1, 2:1, 1:1. We have normality. I repeat, we have normality. Anything you still can't cope with is therefore your own problem."
  12. Ignore the pic, this IS the thread I meant.
  13. There's a thread somewhere on @Andyjr1515 using richlite for a fingerboard. If I remember correctly it was hard work, so worth checking it out.
  14. A long, long, time ago I used to.work for a part of Lucas Industries that researche and made optical sensors. Some were very clever, some were very good. But I was left with the opinion that if there is ever a straight choice between optical and electrical sensors, the latter will be simpler, more effective, more efficient, and more reliable.
  15. NB: Not to be confused with furtle.
  16. Adjust slightly, usually in the context of manually changing the shape of something a bit to make it fit properly. Pretty much the antithesis of CAD and CNC machining. 😁
  17. This type also doubles as a metronome/gig-saver: When the battery starts to get low you have to play faster to ensure you finish the set before you go silent, so the flashes set the tempo.
