1. D-L-B, are you waiting for offers? J.
 2.
My opinion is that its best to keep your powder dry & put my maximum bid in with about two seconds to go.
Absolutely. And rule no. 2 is know your maximum & stick to it, leave Ebay Madness to people bidding on your stuff! J.
 3.
so who's gonna get it?
Waaaaay too much! At least, for a tight-fisted gyppo like me. J.
 4. Think you're gonna have to bite the bullet & put a price on it... J.
 5. Perhaps it's this one: http://theredrickenbacker.com/  Jon.
 6.
I'm a last minuter. The way I see it, the longer you're on top, the longer the competition have to shoot at you. I have a max bid in mind, if it goes over that before the end, I walk away.
+1. And if you don't win it, whatever it is - whatever it is - there will be another one along sooner or later. And I don't think I have ever sold anything that didn't start off with piddling little pointless bids from the £1.99 cheapskates! I think some people genuinely go through every single newly-listed item in a category & stick a few pence on it, just in case. Jon.
 7. Not sure it's exactly attractive, but it's a very adventurous body shape. The pickups look shockingly off-centre, though. This was listed previously with an eye-watering BIN: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Handmade-Design-Elec...emZ170264349707 Jon.
 8. Best of luck with it - I might well have had it myself if I'd had 300 sovs going spare. J.
 9. I'm neither a fan of reliced finishes, nor of jingoistic flag-waving - but that works, better than it has any right to! Jon.
 10. I'm fairly sure if you Ebayed this with a £300 BIN it'd go like a shot. J.
 11. I have one of these - it's an RS924 - not a particularly common variety of Roadster. Weighs a ton but a great-sounding bass, particularly in passive mode, & I frequently use mine for recording. I have no idea what a reasonable asking price would be - but I doubt you'd accept what I paid for mine! Apropos of nothing, Steve Bleedin' 'Arris can be seen playing one of these in the videos for Run To The Hills & The Trooper. Jon.
 12.
I loved the Skids, but i always thought The Armoury Show was spoiled by Jobsons bombastic lyrics and pseudo intellectualism...in other words i think Jobson is a w***er. Stuart Adamson on the other hand was always the down to earth one...i miss him.
I don't think either The Skids or TAS would have been quite the same without Jobbo's bizarre declamations! Stuart was probably my favourite guitarist, a huge influence on my own playing & songwriting. I had the pleasure of meeting him in the early 90s - such a talented, but unassuming & genuine guy. RIP. J.
 13. Not quite the kick up the arse this thread needs - but this is something to behold: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=260292186047 I had one of these myself, many-and-many-a, this is near-identical to mine and in exceptional nick for a 25-odd year old. Reserve is about £275 (he's being a trifle coy) so I won't be bidding, but these do tend to fetch a bob or two now. J.
 14.
Tea->screen, ta. You'll be telling me Ricks looks better with dots next and that's heresy.
Will I 'eck as like! Full-width sparklies - to go with checker binding, wavy Grovers, toaster & cast/slotted tailpiece! J.
 15.
Precisions need dots.
Luddite. Precisions already have dots - that's why they need blocks! I'm on the DVD Forums, been a member for years. I hardly ever post though because it's such a cliquey ladfest over there. J.
 16.
so it's worth a pop then? I like the look of it, it'll sit next to my Giannini nicely!
Well I wouldn't kick it out of bed on a chilly morning, so to speak. J.
 17. Thanks for swapping the necks on this - you probably just saved me £400! Do you have the old neck & if so are you selling? Jon.
 18.
No pics, needs repaired and seller has zero f/b.
That and the fifty quid start price. 99p no reserve & it would have sold. £6 postage suggests the seller really hasn't thought about this. Jon.
 19.
Still think you cheated. Me bitter? never.
Cheated, eh? That's a serious accusation, young sir, and one which you will have to back up with evidence, if you mean to stand by it. Explain how I misled the judging panel and the other competitors! J.
 20.
[post="283004"]Bassassin[/post] It was a close one but his Punk Bass is the worst.
Delighted to be a winner - although I can't take any credit for the modifications - it was like that when I got it! I'm not going to dwell too long on the fact that I have won a prize for owning a piece of crap! J.
 21. I think that age-darkened Fireglo you get on older 4001s if my favourite Rick finish. Jon.
 22.
*cough* http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=28052
Don't think you'll have much trouble moving that along for £150! Meanwhile - a Cimar: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=120308029328 ...looking remarkably similar to the Shaftesbury version. Re the Cimar/Ibanez/Hoshino connection - this is interesting, from the Ibanez Collectors World board:
According to Jeff Hasselberger from Hoshino Gakki, Cimar was not connected to Hoshino Gakki but the "Cimar by Ibanez" low end guitars were made by Cimar for Hoshino Gakki who then distributed them through Ibanez guitar distribution channels. So Cimar were a separate orderer/distributor who were making their own low end Cimar branded guitars with their own designs. Then Hoshino Gakki contracted Cimar to make some low end guitars using Cimar guitar designs and these guitars are the "Cimar by Ibanez" guitars.
I'm not 100% about all of that - the early Ibanez Blazers & Cimar Stinger are identical apart from the name - but I'd buy it as far as the copy-era stuff is concerned - Cimars like this Faker are clearly not Fujigen instruments. It's far more accurate! J.
 23. Here's uncle Ashdigits with a "transitional" Ibanez 2388B bolt-neck: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=140268354411 This has small inlays & an accurate bridge pup & surround, but still keeps checked binding & chrome neck pickup from the earlier 2388B. Where does he find 'em all? J.
 24.
Now SOLD - pending the usual!!
Unfortunately, not to me! J.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ibanez-Jazz-Bass-Cus...id=p3286.c0.m14 Real?
A BCer who lives locally to the seller & was considering going for a butchers asked me my opinion of this a couple of days back. I doubt he'd mind if I copy & paste my response:
You could start by asking exactly how he's identifying it as an Ibanez. The only thing that makes an Ibanez an Ibanez is if it says so on the headstock, now I've looked really hard at this and all I can see is a couple of naff stickers. Ibanez Jazz copies came from Fujigen Gakki - this one I'm 99.99999% sure didn't: it would have a 3-piece neck construction, it wouldn't have those tuners, and it would have originally had a small white plastic truss rod cover - which would have had much closer screwhole spacing than this is showing. He's not showing the neckplate clearly enough to tell - but it should have MIJ on the lower half, with a serial above it if it's 1975 or later. This one looks plain, but I can't really tell. The pup rout & scratchplate indicate that it originally had the round-end pups we see on lots of Jap & Korean Jazzes - I've never seen these on an Ibanez/Fujigen. Finally, if you do go & have a look - check to find out if it's ply - I'd bet it is, and that would suggest it's originally been a Columbus, or worse still, a Satellite (Korean trash) and he's just playing the usual Ebayer "if it's old & (maybe) Japanese - it's an Ibanez" trick. Dunno how much an unmatched pair of pups & a new bent-tin bridge cost him, but more than £120 - £150 for this would be crazy. If it was an Ibanez, and all original, and in top condition - then it might just go to £300 (unlikely in these recession-hit times) but that would still be high.
J.
