My HiFi is 2.0 and always will be. 5.1 hasn't caught on for music, as it's sh*t. I bought an SACD player about 4 years ago and only use it in stereo, although, Roger Waters' "Perfect Sense" sounds ok.
2. WOW, what a sight!
3. Twice I've been to Sutton Coldfield and I never got even a sniff of a tea bag.
4.
I recognise that 4x10.....
You bloody Brummies have all the best gear.
5. Nice one Andy. That is nice!
6. No, it's a Philips cryogenic, specially chosen by the Dood. He did the research for the upgrade and then fitted the valves. Have a look on Watford Valves' website at their spec and properties.
7.
What pre are you going for then Steve ?.
Yours Kev! Bump with some pics of the Harma and Philips valves.
8.
Noooooooo!!! Don't do it ! You'll be wanting it back in a month!
I can't hear you. I want what I orginally gassed for last year and it's now available. What if I don't like it though? Oh sh*t!!!
9.
BLIMEY! That was quick!!!!
I know. I want a solid state front end into me Bergy amp. Slam city.
10. I'm selling my Ampeg SVP Pro preamp as I have the opportunity to get the pre I have always wanted. I bought this from our very own Dood and he upgraded it with better, quieter valves, worth £65. I am selling it for what I bought it for, £300 The pre is immaculate(thanks Dood). The pre was made in America and is in perfect working order. Cheers Steve.
11.
Welcome to my on/off love affair with my Bergantino IP cab. It is a fantastic item, but after spending a bit of time with an Epi UL502 and 4x10 cab yesterday, I think I prefer the Epifani rig, it's just a different sound, not better, just different. I collecting an Epifani 4x10 tomorrow and I really don't need two rigs. I'm asking £895 or a trade for an Epifani UL502 head. It's in absolutely perfect condition, I live in the West Midlands.
Kev, you are the limit. This cab is as new and it sounds superb. I had a small demo when he first got it, wow. I have the IP310 and these cabs are extraordinary. Put another 8 ohm cab with this and you will have a world class 1000w rig.
12.
You sure know your Stranglers mate
Going to see them in Liverpool, supportong Blondie. First time I've seen them since Hugh left. Stranglers, without Hugh?
13. Thanks to Frank, Kevin and Mark. You are all top guys and I hope to do deals with you all again, or can recommend any of you. I sold a cab to Frank's lad and bought some brilliant gear from Kevin. Just sent some speakers to Mark, never again . Cheers Steve.
14. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I tried one of these when our band got some money(1992) and it was the amp but now, too heavy. A classic piece of bass amplification. If I had the space and speakers to match, I would now be on my way to pick it up. Amazing. Put it with a Peavey 2x15" Black Widow equipped cab and it's all good. Good luck Thomas.
15.
I meant if you compare the Bergantino IP112ER (£1299 from Bass Direct UK) to the Bergantino HT112ER (£475 from Bass Direct UK). You could buy 2 Bergantino 1x12 cabs and a power amp for the price of the powered cab.
That's true but you would have a lot of cabs, leads, power amp. The IP amp is the best I have ever heard for a bass guitar application. Every strum, pop, slap, vibratoed string, pull.... you get the idea, is delivered in a way I haven't heard before. They are loud and faithful. They respond to eq very well but won't fill a stage like a multi cab set up. If you want anymore info, please pm me. Steve.
16. Hi ahpook, I bought the pre off Dood and he had replaced the tubes with the Harma's. The pre was very quiet when I used it with the Crown amp and it's a little noisier with the IP310 cab I'm using now. I definitely think that the SVP is more suited to certain combinations and it's a sensitive piece of gear but it sounds great. It would be great to have all the best valves to hand to try to see which best suited our set ups but the best we can hope for are well informed tests, otherwise, it would cost a fortune. Steve.
17. Splintering the wood can be avoided. Heat your solder gun up then coat each fret with flux, apply a tiny amount of solder to the top of the fret and keep the iron running across the top of the fret, this then heats the fret sufficiently so as to melt any glue that may be under the fret and it also expands the fret so making the slot a tiny bit wider to. The fret cools slightly and the slot remains widened. It's a messy job but gets a much better result.
18.
PM'd
Yo, Binman, that's the best album cover of all time. Death and Night and Blood!
19.
Liking his rig, I want that Trace hehe. Does he take alot of drugs though, just wondering?
Drugs are bad, n'kayyyyyy!
20.
Real nice set up Steve, would have loved to get my hands on that Berg cab! Jake
Hi Jake, how's the 4x10 working out? It's 4 ohms, so you'll still get 500w out the Fafner, nearly had it. The Berg is magnificent, totally shocked me. It goes so deep and it's so effin' loud. It's heavy, compared to the AccuGrooves, which were stupidly light but it's one cab and a pre, instead of two cabs, power amp, pre, loads of leads. I don't have the volume on the cab turned up past 1/3 because books fell off the shelf and my acoustic started to play itself, it's evil.
21. I've always prefered stacks, as BFM has said, larger cabs, bigger sound. Having said that the cab I'm using at the mo, has a digital amp built in, 1000w at 4 ohms and it totally twats anything I've had before. I just use a preamp to drive it. But in general, stacks sound far better and if one part breaks down, then it's not all bad, as opposed to a combo.
22. I've seen this bass in the flesh and the action is ridiculously low, a very beautiful bass and 6SB is a total gent.
23.
bump
1 hour, 56 mins, is that a new record for the quickest bump? Mod's?
24. Sell your Aguilar head and get a powerful amp and pre.
