1.
excessive bumping of threads is unfair to the rest of the for sale threads????
Kev mate seriously let this bloke just sell his bass, if he's doing something wrong Im sure a mod will step in.
2. Big gimmick if you ask me, none of the great bass slappers have used one in the past as far as I know.
3. Presumably its the Ibanez version of the jag bass? It looks nice, but Im not too keen on that modern looking headstock on that traditional looking body.
4. Hello, anyone want to trade scratchplates? Im after a plain black scratchplate for an olp stingray single humbucker, in trade you can have my blue pearloid one.
5. very tasty, I have considered getting one of these and having it fretted, has anybody on this forum done so before? Did it turn out any good?
6. I think Metallica have something equally as ridiculous also
7. Well, if you're after a musicman type bass dont go for the Squire VMJ. The sub is the best sounding bass out of all of them. I recently got an OLP and the stock pup is pretty hot and loud. My advice to you is probbaly get the OLP and replace the stock pup with a Nordstand or Seymour Duncan MM pup.
8. I like the snappy zingy sound of new round wound strings, I go with Ernie Ball slinkys everytime.
9. That guy you saw sounds like a bit of a joker to me, I'd drop him straight away. My bass teacher, actually taught me with a guitar in his hands and a bass in mine. I found it to be very beneficial, he'd been a session player all his life, guitar and bass, and he was amazingly thorough when it came to theory, right down to the last detail. He'd show me bass scales on the top 4 strings on his guitar and then we used to jam as a bass and guitar duo, so I learnt how to play with another musician from day 1.
10. I had one of these a few years ago, the only reason I sold it was because I upgraded to a thumb. I got compliments on the live sound all the time from people and out of all the basses Ive owned the corvette got the most positive compliments out of all of them, good luck with the sale
11.
In any case, I'd go for it for £180...
I did just that. Im pretty impressed, finish is nice, necks very playable, and it has a good weight to it and it sits nicely. I dont think I'll worry about fitting an active pre amp to it because the passive stingray pup should run pretty hot by itself. for £180 im pretty pleased with it
12. You my friend, have owned some very nice looking basses indeed. That antiguan finished jazz looks totally amazing.
13. I want that pretty white bass for free. I'll pm you my address
14. Hello Ladies and Gents, As you know Ive got me an ernie ball stingray pup that I have up for sale or trade in the bits section, however, whilst in a music shop yesterday I spotted a really smart looking OLP stingray hanging on the wall, guy said I could have it for £180. Now the pickup would be easy to install, a straight swap. Can anyone give me their experience or opinion as to what OLP's are like in terms of build quality. Im tempted to pop out this afternoon and get it.
15. Definately agree with no one knows by QOTSA, best bass line written in years. Go with the flow is another bass driven track
16.
I don't think I'm a snob. There's nothing special in my gear list, and my next purchase is probably going to be an OLP. Hopefully an MM3, but maybe an MM2 tuned BEAD. I'm firmly of the belief that a hardwear/pickup change on a lower end bass such as an OLP/Squier/Mexican Fender can give you a bloody good instrument, and you don't necessarily have to spend loads of money either.
+1
17.
I once gave them 6 guitars to upgrade/set up in a week. They did it on time and did a great job on all 6. Jonathan let me try out two of the Feline basses there too. The Stingray clone was the best Stingray I've ever played - cheaper than a new Musicman one too. Very nice guy who's very knowledgeable and who always does a great job. Can't really argue with that, eh?
Yeah he's a nice bloke, he let me try that stingray clone also and I was pretty impressed with it.
18. Hello ladies and gents. I just thought I'd come on here and vent my frustration in regards to the attitude I got from my local music shop this morning. I've been going to my local music shop called Sutton Music Centre since I was about 18, I'm 26 now. I have bought a bass, two amps, books, and countless packets of strings and not to mention on occassion a repair or service when nessecary. I take my bass into them this morning, and I ask for a full service, set up, new nut and a look at the earthing because I get a lot of hum when I plug in, only to be met with the response of "Im too busy", now this was from the guy who actually owns the place. He said he couldnt take anymore in because he had a whopping "four guitars to do ahead of mine!". I said I didnt mind the wait as Im not in a band right now so no rush, but still he said no and said to call his tech sometime next week. So I walk out of the door with my bass on my shoulder still. Now, what gets to me is he's obviously doing so well he can turn his nose up at regular customers and refuse business, as a local small shop you'd think that no matter how busy you were you'd do what you could to squeeze in the extra work if it came along, especially if you were told there was no rush for it. I will never ever go back to that place and from now on my custom goes to Feline guitars in croydon who ive always experienced 1st class service from.
19.
What email adress is it from? I'll send them an email accepting and I'll try to sus it out. I love having fun with these guys. I managed to get one of these clowns to promise me first dibs on an "unnatural sex act" with his sister the other week!
Haha, I hate these foreign scam artists, I'll tell you how the scam will probbably go. Once you agree to play the function, and you quote them a price, lets say £1000 for the evening. They will send you a cheque, a fake one, for the amount of say £4000 before you even play the gig. They will ask you to cash it into your account and for you to foward on to them, the £3000 remaining after you've taken your grand. They will ask you to do this out of "trust". The cheque is fake, when the bank realise this, they take back the money that went into your account, so you're £4000 out of pocket, and the scammer has his £3000 that you foward to him.
20.
What year is it ?
A 2004
21. Hello ladies and gents, recently accquired this from here, but now due to a change in circumstance its no longer required, in good condition, no rusting or pitting, just a dulling on the poles, Yours for £55 including postage and packing. Prefer cash or cheque on this one please, cheers! May be interested in a trade for a high end set of P Bass pups i.e Wizards, Lindy Fralins, Bare Knuckle etc....
22. I never did like any of this pointy stuff. I think it looks a wee bit tacky personally, why cant you people settle for the smoOoOoOoOoth curves of a warwick
23. methinks anyone bidding on this is after the neck and not a lot else
24. Take it to the top of the tree, give them an e-mail linking them to this thread and see where it goes. You might get a little something extra for your trouble?
25.
I personally think that playing bass is harder because of the strings hurt your fingers more, or is it just cause i`m a noob. but at the end of the day without bass there would hardly be any music only crappy music.Bassists are more important then guitarists.
I wouldnt say bass was harder to play, I wouldnt say it was easier either. And Guitar strings can really get your fingers sore, its like cheese wire! And in a band context, everybody has their part to play and everyone is as equally important ( even if bassists are that little bit cooler than the rest, but shhhhh)
