  1. Absolutely brilliant @EJWW Best of luck with all of it... ๐Ÿ˜Š In 2010 I did 3 things I'd never done before, namely Have a proper music lesson, have a cookery lesson and I walked the South Downs Way.. All of it was amazing and the feeling of achievement afterwards was brilliant.. You've got me thinking now for some new things to do.. Have a good Xmas ๐Ÿ˜Š
  2. Cheers @bubinga5 You too! And to everyone else on here also.. Have a good one.. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  3. Fixed that for you @Rich.. ๐Ÿ˜ Merry Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…
  4. +1 ๐Ÿ˜Š Great pictures...
  5. Interesting question.. I think there are too many interlinked factors at work that come into play on this.. For example, B string tension due to scale length, string design (tapered /non-tapered) , pick up design, pick up height, pick up placement etc, etc. I have a Schecter Diamond P5 with a Schecter designed P pick up and it's brilliant at reproducing the lower notes on the B string.. Having said that, it's a 35" scale neck.. Equally, I have had numerous Roscoe Beck 5 Strings which are 34"scale necks and the definition of notes from E down to B on the B string on those was all excellent. Of the Yamaha 5 strings I've owned over the years, I found a lot of variation in the sound and tension/playability of the B string. I had the 1005 which was good, a TRB5P which was excellent, and a BB615 which was not good at all.. Not sure that helps the debate much though.. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  6. ^^ This.. Thanks for sharing your story @Bassman Sam and best of luck with the op next year! Maybe I'm feeling a bit reflective this morning after a really good gig last night, but reading about what you've been through - and are still going through with this situation - has made realise just how lucky I've been in terms of health and playing music.. As Joni said, 'you don't know what you've got till it's gone.' Merry Xmas btw Folks and here's to some positive outcomes for all of us next year ! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ˜Š
  7. Great sound - really alive and a lot of energy.. Some nice playing too! ๐Ÿ˜Š GLWTS
  8. I had one of these for a while.. It was brutally loud, had a great inherent sound to it and then as tonally flexible as you like. Not sure why I sold it really? Probably because I had too much gear at the time.. But anyway, my ramblings of regret aside, this is a serious piece of kit! GLWTS
  9. Hi Folks Having recently sold a Roscoe Beck 5 String bass to @ampegg, a.k.a. Paavo, in what was a very good transaction, I'm pleased to be able to start this feedback thread for him. Simply put, Paavo is a great person to deal with - excellent communications, very easy to negotiate with, and a prompt payer - all of which is great! But in addition to all of that, he's also a very patient person too. To explain briefly.. Because the bass had to be shipped to Finland, I was very deliberate in sourcing suitably strongly packaging materials for the job - which took quite a while to be honest - about two weeks all in all. But throughout all of that, Paavo was really calm and patient about it and just encouraged me to take my time and get it done right. So, as well as being more than happy to recommend Paavo to one and all here on Basschat, I'd also like to thank him for being a great person to deal with and for his understanding and patience.. Thanks very much Paavo; I hope the extra wait for the RBV was worth it and more than that, I really hope you enjoy the bass. ๐Ÿ˜Š Until the next time.. Nik
  10. See here for an explanation for YMMV. https://www.google.com/amp/s/dictionary.cambridge.org/amp/english/ymmv
  11. That's a very punchy and loud amp so I doubt you'd have any problems achieving the volume levels you're after if paired with the Triad.. Obviously, YMMV, but IMO, it'd work.
  12. Depends on your amp obviously, but the Triad I had certainly was loud enough. Kicked out plenty of low end, but also, lots of mid frequency punch and sweet highs..
  13. Cool bass Gary! ๐Ÿ˜Š Great seller btw, Folks.. GLWTS
  14. @AndyTravis - How I wish that were true! ๐Ÿ˜Š
  15. There's so much of concern in this post, it's almost impossible to know where to start..? Psychoanalytically speaking, 'GAS' as a descriptor for a far gone state of mind doesn't even come close! This is where it all ends people - this is what the dark corners of a Basschat fuelled, bass-addicted, bass players mind looks like. This is the view from our windows.. ๐Ÿ˜ Back on topic.. Lovely bass, tons of mojo Chris.. You have extraordinary taste in vintage basses! GLWTS or trade... ๐Ÿ˜Š
  16. ^^ This. 100%.๐Ÿ˜
  17. Great news Dan! Well deserved and a good move all round.. BGM definitely needs DOOD-ing up IMHO.. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  18. BUMP! Price dropped to ยฃ550 o.n.o. for this classic and vintage Ibanez bass.
  19. P. S. Very melodic playing @ambient - a very refreshing change from the usual bass demos..
  20. That's a stunning looking bass! GLWTS
  21. Cool bass, nice playing, great tone! GLWTS
  22. Had the pleasure of playing one of these recently, though I'm not a 6 string player and have no aspirations to be one... Having said that, the inherent tone of the bass, it's playability and build quality were so exceptional I could hear the GAS demon in my head saying that I should take up 6 string bass... ! ๐Ÿ˜ Not that I'm going to do that of course, but I just wanted to offer up that little tale as evidence of what absolutely brilliant instruments these basses are. GLWTS
  23. Great thread! ๐Ÿ˜Š Amazing collection of basses and amps and what a brilliant space that is @cd_david! Lovely example of what the Basschat community is all about...
