Band I was in at the time supported them on a UK tour back in 1994.. Great musicians and a lot of fun too! Saw Incognito the following year at The Ilford Island.. One of the best live gigs I've ever been to; phenomenal musicianship, great songs and so, so funky.. Happy days ☺️

Bass is on now SOLD. Hi Folks Here for sale is my 2004 USA made Gibson Thunderbird Bass Guitar & original Gibson Case which is in excellent condition and very good working order. I'm looking for £735 or very near offer for this classic bass. See attached pictures for more detail about condition. I bought this second-hand, 2 years ago, specifically for using with my last band, which covered a lot of classic rock tunes - anything from AC/DC to Zeppelin to the Foo Fighters - and it was just perfect for it! Plugged in, this is 'super thumpy' and powerful sounding - much more so in fact than the T-Bird Custom that I had for a while that @Billy Apple had made with the '66 Thunderbucker pick ups in it (though that was a great bass too).. Having said that, I've also used this bass in a different band setting playing more groove based, funky stuff, and it was great in that too...just change the balance between the two pick ups, and away you go - it's as funky and punchy as hell! It's also nice and lightweight and very comfortable to play - great for long gigs in fact Designed and built in the USA in 2004, it's a neck-through design with Gibson hardware and electronics and IMO, is very well made .. Have to say that I've read and heard a lot about the bridge design on these being a bit underwhelming, so much so that changing the bridge and tail piece improves tone and sustain etc.. but that's not been my experience of it to be honest - this has more than enough sustain and tone for any kind of music! Here's a link to some blurb for the new models: https://www.gibson.com/Guitar/USAKUC232/Thunderbird-Bass As to why I'm selling, the band I mentioned above folded last December and as a result, this lovely T-Bird is not getting any use at all, so I feel it's best to move it on. So, here are some links to Talkbass and YouTube for further info and a chance to hear these in action. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/for-those-considering-a-gibson-thunderbird.1310836/ https://youtu.be/KtmSY3rr62I https://youtu.be/_XBYKd9y1pU https://youtu.be/UiISSgwLtL4 In terms of price and making a deal, this bass owes my about £750 and new they're about £1800, so I hope I've got the price set at a reasonably fair level. I'll also throw in a T-Bird gig bag that I bought especially for this from Thomman which cost me an addition £27 including postage. (See here: https://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_gigbag1_bass_heavy.htm) On that point, I would be prepared to courier this at buyer's expense if absolutely necessary, but would much rather it was collected in person - either here in Littlehampton, West Sussex where tea & biccies are in ample supply - or at a mutually convenient rendezvous point.. Any other questions, please ask away here or send me a PM. Oh, and just to say please check out my feedback here: Thanks for looking!

Great post! At his creative peak in the 1970s, Stevie Wonder was one of the funkiest men on the planet.. +1 also on the Roxy and Magazine rhythm sections.

What famous musicians death most shocked you
silverfoxnik replied to dmccombe7's topic in General Discussion
+1 As ridiculous as it sounds, the loss of Bowie is something I still haven't yet come to terms with yet, though the reasons why he passed away were not shocking or surprising - he was a lifelong smoker (and user of other substances) after all.. @lou24d53 mentions the words that it was like losing 'a member of the family' which I totally understand, but for me it was more like losing a mentor and a lifelong friend who inspired me throughout my formative years... With Prince though, that came completely out of the blue! Who would have ever thought that someone like him, seemingly in total control of his career and creative life, would have developed such an addiction to pain killing drugs? And also to have passed away without leaving a will? The fact that Bowie and Prince died within a few months of each other made 2016 a pretty terrible year! -

Loads of great pairings mentioned here.. On a personal note, I've always rated Keith Moon and John Entwistle, from you know who.. And, David Brown and Michael Shrieve from the early Abraxas era Santana band. And, Sheila E and Levi Seacer, Jnr from Prince's band circa Sign o' the Times tour. And Dennis Davis and George Murray who played for Bowie in the mid to late 70s..

What a gorgeous example of a late 70s Pro II.. Looks like it might be the Pro IIe as well. And it comes with the original brown Wal case - even better! 😊 In this current economic climate, who knows how fast even rarities like this might take to sell, but you can expect @TrevorR and @cetera along at some point to add their comments I would expect.. Now SOLD - thanks for looking. Hi Folks For Sale only, here is my Hartke LH500 bass amp in very good condition and working order that is housed in a very snug and secure Gator 2U rack case.. Price wise, I'm looking or £SOLD or very near offer for this. I received this in a trade from @WalMan last year at the South East Bash and it's a surprisingly good! I've tried it with a variety of different cabinets; my Ampeg 210, 115 and my recently sold Epifani 310 and it sounded great with all of them.. What's more, it works really well with all the different basses I've tried it with; 4 and 5 strings, active passive etc - it's clean and transparent sounding but has a warmth to it too. The e.q. is simple and effective and it's loud! Loud in that kind of punchy 'old-skool' Trace Elliott kind of way, which I really like. Oh, and it's operationally as quiet as a mouse - you can't even tell when it's switched on it's that quiet! And compared to my old Eden and Hughes & Kettner Class A hybrid amps, which had relatively noisy fans, this is a real treat! Anyway, having said all of that, I honestly haven't had cause to use it apart from a little light use at home when practicing.. That's because of my main gigging band coming to an end last December, plus the fact that when I was gigging regularly, I always used my Ampeg rig.. And now, I have a smaller combo for rehearsals with my new band, which is a more laid back, folky kind of sound. So, it's time to let this go to someone else on here hopefully, who will have need of it! Some pictures attached but please let me know if you'd like to see any more... Viewings and a chance to hear it in action are welcome and in Littlehampton, West Sussex if you're nearby enough to want to do so.. And yes, I'm happy to send by courier (at buyer's expense) if absolutely essential to getting a deal done. Sending by a fully insured courier service is the only way to go with that though, and that always adds a little extra to the cost so please bear that in mind. Any questions, please ask here or send me a PM. Thanks for looking as ever! Nik Here's the Hartke sales blurb about it: The LH500, has a classic 12AX7 Class-A tube front-end design with a solid-state output. Developed with the HyDrive cabs in mind, the LH500 also has more than enough power and tone control to drive any cabinet on the market. This amp provides you with Treble and Bass Shelving to give its warm tone a little edge. Or use the brite and limiter switches to further sculpt your sound. Its intuitive front panel also makes adjustments on the fly a breeze. The LH500 packs a big punch in a portable, roadworthy package. A two-rackspace metal frame chassis, steel faceplate and handles allow for easy, safe transport from gig to gig. With the needs of modern bass players largely centered around volume and versatility, the LH500 is an ideal solution that gives you plenty of options to create the exact sound you're looking for. Features & Tech Spec: 500 watts of power @ 4 ohms Classic 12AX7 High Voltage Class-A tube preamp circuit Bass and Treble Shelving, plus mid-peak EQ controls Selectable brite switch for added high frequency response Selectable limiter switch with LED indicator Front panel XLR balanced direct output Rear panel 1/4-inch effects loop 1/4-inch output connectors Two-rackspace metal chassis with steel faceplate and handles Inputs: 2 x Instrument (Passive, Active) Outputs: 2 x Speaker (1/4") Effects Loop: Yes Height: 3.25" Width: 19" Depth: 14.5" Weight: 23.1 lbs.

Have you ever purchased your old Bass back?
silverfoxnik replied to thebigyin's topic in General Discussion
Yep.. Been down that road before.. Bought a Schecter Diamond P5 on here, sold it 3 years later, then bought it back the following year. Stupidly sold it again last year. I have learned nothing in 13 years of being on this forum! 😊 -

Hi Folks @Maxillius just bought an Epifani 310 cab from me in what was a very relaxed and easy transaction from start to finish. Max paid when he said he would, maintained great comms throughout and all in all, was a very good person to deal with. So.. I'm more than happy to recommended Max to everyone here on Basschat! Thanks Max - hope you enjoy the cab. 😊 Nik

FS: Last of my bass amps/cabs **ALL SOLD**
silverfoxnik replied to Beedster's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Not sure how you even deal with that Chris - I struggle switching from bass to 6 string acoustic guitar sometimes! The mandolins that I've seen don't even have what I would call 'string spacing' ; it's more like a few microns gap to allow for air flow in between and around those weird tiny strings, all 8 of them ! 😁
