  1. That's a stunning looking bass! GLWTS
  2. Cool bass, nice playing, great tone! GLWTS
  3. Had the pleasure of playing one of these recently, though I'm not a 6 string player and have no aspirations to be one... Having said that, the inherent tone of the bass, it's playability and build quality were so exceptional I could hear the GAS demon in my head saying that I should take up 6 string bass... ! 😁 Not that I'm going to do that of course, but I just wanted to offer up that little tale as evidence of what absolutely brilliant instruments these basses are. GLWTS
  4. Great thread! 😊 Amazing collection of basses and amps and what a brilliant space that is @cd_david! Lovely example of what the Basschat community is all about...
  5. That looks absolutely awesome!! 😊 GLWTS
  6. Sold an EHX Micro Q-Tron to Steve in what was a very straight forward, pleasant transaction.. Steve says its the first pedal he's ever bought in his bass playing career so I hope that he likes it!! Anyway, just to say that Steve is a great bloke and a valued member of the Basschat community so deal with him in absolute confidence. Thanks Steve; looking forward to hearing your Bootsy Collins style bass FX workshop at next year's South East Bass Bash! 😁 Nik
  7. Awesome - thanks Steve! 😊
  8. Now that's the way to do it! Brilliant for sale ad @Ted Theodore Logan, III And a great cab too! GLWTS 😊
  9. ^^ This! Wishing you the best with it all Lozz.. Difficult a decision as it must have been, your health and wellbeing is the most important thing. Sounds like you've got some great memories to hold onto from your time in the band and a sense of real achievement too.. No doubt, in a few months time, you'll be onto your next musical adventure! 😊
  10. The bass has now been SOLD. 😊
  11. Thanks for sharing.. 😊 Really good stuff ; I like her voice and the songs are haunting and compelling.
  12. The answer to the OP's question is yes, millions and millions of people do. Record sales of The Beatles, Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Bowie, Paul Simon, Squeeze, Kate Bush, Grandmaster Flash, Cole Porter, The Beautiful South, Elvis Costelloe, Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Amy Winehouse, Carole King, Randy Newman, Eminem, the great songwriters of musicals over the years such as Sondheim, Schuman & Schuman etc, etc.. Those brilliant storytelling songwriters - and so, so many others - is testimony to the fact that millions and millions of people listen to and care about the lyrics in songs. Protest songs, coming of age songs, redemption songs, love songs, comedic songs, songs of love and hate, allegorical songs, songs about drugs, songs about injustice, songs about togetherness, songs about the simple joy of being alive... Without the words, they would just be pieces of music - great music in many cases undoubtedly - but still, they'd just be music. But with the words, they become something else entirely. 'You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you will join us And the world will live as one.'
  13. Price dropped to £595 for this vintage Ibanez bass..
  14. Oops! Thanks for pointing that out.. 😊 I'll edit the post accordingly.
  15. The bass has now SOLD; thanks for all the interest.
  16. Had a couple of requests about the weight of the bass, so I've weighed it on our really old bathrooms scales. The reading says it's a shade under 4kg which doesn't surprise me given that it's an Ash body.
  17. Can't disagree with any of that @FDC484950 It's that dreaded GAS at work again though, otherwise....
  18. Hi Folks So, this really, really is a feeler, but as I said in another for sale thread, I have my eye on something else, so am putting this beautiful example of a Fender Roscoe Beck 5 String & OHSC for sale. I'm looking for £SOLD or very near offer for this beautiful Fender signature series bass, which many have described as the best Fender 5 string bass ever made. The bass is in superb condition and has one ding on the underside of the body which hopefully can be seen in the photos. A completely passive bass, it has two double wound Bill Lawrence pick-ups that offer you series/parallel/single configuration for each pick-up , offering you a plethora of sounds/tones from standard Jazz Bass to the most modern Humbucker sounds. It's perhaps a little bit darker tonally than a standard Jazz bass, but with stainless steel round wounds, this bass works with any genre of music and any type of band. Here's a great thread about the RBV bass on TalkBass: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/roscoe-beck-bass-v-5-string.38034/?amp=1012489606 And here are some YouTube links: The bass is currently strung and set up by mecto my taste, which means it has quite a high action and heavier gauge Carvin strings, so it would definitely benefit from a professional set up.. On that point and just to clarify, the truss rod is working perfectly so that won't be a problem. As ever, I'd prefer to sell this to someone who could come and try it out in person here in Littlehampton West Sussex first however, I am prepared to ship it at buyer's expense by insured courier service. If you've any questions, please PM me or ask away here and I'll try to get back to you ASAP. I am away in Birmingham from tomorrow afternoon for 3 days , so please bear in mind that I may not be able to answer certain questions until I get back. Advertised elsewhere btw, and I reserve the right to change my mind as I really do love the RBVs that I've had over the last 12 years... but that dreaded GAS does come along to fry the common sense circuitry in my brain from time to time.. Thanks for looking as ever 😊 Nik
  19. Thanks @karlfer Really appreciate the info! 😊
  20. Thanks.. Not really ; I'm almost embarrassed to say that I had to look him up just now to be absolutely sure who he is.. 😳
  21. Hi Folks, This is a bit of a feeler really as I have my eye on something else.. So, this is - as far as I can tell from the serial number - a Made in Japan Fender Precision bass, circa 1991/2. I'm looking for £SOLD or very near offer for this beauty. It sounds and looks great, has a beautiful Ash body and a slim, almost Jazz like maple neck and is in brilliant condition for a 27 year old bass. It's everything a 70s P Bass should be IMHO ! 😊 Full disclosure ; there's one tiny ding on the neck which I'll try to photograph tomorrow when there's hopefully some decent light.. It has been set up professionally and is currently strung with a set of Rotosound steels. Comes with a functional hard case. As ever, I'd prefer to sell this to someone who could come and try it out in person here in Littlehampton West Sussex first however, I am prepared to ship it at buyer's expense by insured courier service. If you've any questions, please PM me or ask away here and I'll try to get back to you ASAP. I am away in Birmingham from tomorrow afternoon for 3 days , so please bear in mind that I may not be able to answer certain questions.. Thanks for looking as ever! 😊 Nik
  22. Hi Folks, I was fortunate to win this EHX Mini Q-Tron pedal at the recent South East Bass Bash but because I already have one, I've decided to put this up for sale. This wasn't my original intention when I won it tbh, but my slightly crazy plan to use two at the same time didn't quite work out as planned.. 😁 If you're looking at this for sale thread, then I guess you probably know about the Mini Q-Tron already but in case you don't, what I'd say is that it's one of those FX units that is a load of fun to play with.. To quote another Basschatter @Mikey Rwho sold one of these recently '.. it's great for funk and psychodelia, it also works really well with distortion pedals, octive pedals and LFO based effects to produce synth type tones.' This one comes in its original cool & very 70s retro wooden box and is in reasonable cosmetic condition, as the photos show. Otherwise, it's in good working order and makes a great noise! There isn't a PSU with it unfortunately , but it will work absolutely fine using a regular 9v battery. Alternatively, the enclosed instructions provide details of what kind of PSU is required for it. I'm happy to post at buyer's expense or happy to demonstrate it working for anybody who lives close enough to Littlehampton, West Sussex and wants to visit... Tea/Coffee /Biscuits provided of course! Any questions, please send me a PM or ask away here and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks for looking! 😊 Nik
  23. Great amps these.. Super loud, tonally very flexible and has a nice valve pre section that really warms up your tone.. Not too heavy either, so a good choice if you want that Class A/B sound but still care about what your carrying around from gig to gig. Very good seller too btw... GLWTS
