  1. That's some practice amp, Dave!! That being the case, what on earth do you gig with?? This rig perhaps.. 😬
  2. Having owned an Xotic 5 string, I can honestly say that these basses sound fantastic and play beautifully... This one looks like a very good example, and at a decent price too. 👍 GLWTS
  3. From a Talk Bass thread 20 years ago : "I weighed my M-Pulse 600 (mtd. in a SKB 4U rack) 40 Lbs. (SKB 4U = 12Lbs) M-Pulse 600 weighs 28 Lbs." Hope that helps....
  4. Hi John, I'm good thanks - how are you doing? Yes, funnily enough, I'll be heading south soon.. Probably the weekend of 9/10 March. Are you looking to acquire another Boogie amp by any chance....🤔 And does that answer help, or not help (as the case may be)? 😬😁
  5. Thanks @Steve Browning - hope all's well with you! I couldn't agree more with you about these amps ; they sound fabulous whatever kind of bass you use, ir whatever kind of music you make. Fortunately, I also have a Walkabout combo (which I use constantly), otherwise this wouldn't be up for sale...
  6. *** NOW SOLD *** Hi Folks, In typical Basschat fashion, I have GAS for something else - this time in the 'volume box' department.. 😁 So, For Sale only, is this classic, USA made Mesa Boogie M-Pulse 600 bass amp. I'm looking for £SOLD or near offer (no trades please). Thanks to it's combination of a valve (tube) preamp section and MOS FET 600 watt power section, this amp sounds phenomenal, is in full working order and IMHO, is becoming ever more rare and is a bona fide classic amp of the era! It comes with a Rack Case and a Marshall footswitch that I had modded to work with this amp so that you can get the best out of all of it's unique features - 5 band semi-parametric e.q., on board compressor, and footswitchable solo boost channel. Here's a link to Mesa's website for all the important tech stuff: https://legacy.mesaboogie.com/support/out-of-production/m-pulse-600.html Collection much preferred from Potton, Central Bedfordshire, but if absolutely necessary, I could ship it at buyer's expense and only if it's fully insured. And obviously, you're very welcome to come and test it here (with your bass of choice) through a Genz 112 or an Aguilar 212, with plenty of tea/coffee & biscuits on tap! I'll put some more photos up at some point over the next day or so, but here's a couple for now. Any questions, please ask here or send me a PM. Thanks for looking. 😊 Nik
  7. How has this not sold at this price?? I had one of these a few years ago, the 4 ohm version, that I got in a trade with @Captain Rumble, and it was a great sounding cab! Paired it with a Handbox R400 (part of the same trade) and it worked a treat in the covers band I was in at the time. We did a lot of alt & indie rock ; Blink 182, RHCP, Strokes, Nirvana, Blur etc, etc and it never let me down. For a 15" driver, the sound was surprisingly tight and focused, with plenty of mids and low end. GLWTS
  8. This bass looks v.cool, and it sounds fantastic on the 2 Georgina Blackwell recordings.. She has a great voice btw, and the playing (your playing?) is very funky! GLWTS
  9. Very sad news and a real shock! RIP 😢
  10. I have a Godin Classic Shifter 5 and it is such a versatile and well-made instrument that it far exceeded my expectations when I bought it a couple of years ago. The Godin pick ups sound great; super-punchy, really high output and combined with the pick up selector, give a great array of bass tones - P bass, J Bass, P/J Bass and something very close to a humbucking tone too... Oh, and the Godin gig bags are really good, much, much better than standard Fender ones for example. IMHO, this is a bit of a bargain and whoever buys it will be very pleasantly surprised I think... GLWTS
  11. Exactly that @Happy Jack! 😂
  12. Me too! Looking at your pictures @tayste_2000 really does take me back to Christmas 1975 when my parents bought me one of these from Woolworths as my present that year. Think it cost them about £15.. Wow - what a blast from the past! Anyway, best of luck with the sale.. 👍😊
  13. Me too, Chris ... He was very entertaining! 😁
  14. +1 to the above... And to so many of the other posts too.. And thanks to @Rayman for such a great post! 👍😊 I've lost count of the times I've said to people how I wished something like Basschat had existed when I first starting playing bass in my teens (which was a long time ago..). Gotta say @ped and @Kiwi really did something good when they started this - and the fact that it's still going is amazing IMO..! In terms of 'bad run ins' and confrontational or contentious posts etc anyone remember Big Beef Chief?? Those were the days.. 😂🤣😂
  15. 😁 Much as I believe in the core Basschat mantra of 'you can never have too many basses' , my two existing 5 string basses (that don't get enough playing time as it is), would definitely object to the arrival of another 5er at Silverfox Towers - lovely as your KSD undoubtedly is! They're already struggling to cope with the arrival of the CIJ Jazz that i bought at the weekend...
  16. Thanks @thestick, It's a great sounding amp - you're absolutely right. Btw - I used to have a KSD 5 string that I bought directly from Bernie Goodfellow, who set it up for me and fitted it with an Aguilar preamp... It was a really nice bass! GLWTS of your one.. 👍😊
  17. Having heard a couple of YouTube demos of the Korean built Elrick/Cort 5 strings, which are pretty good, this must sound absolutely amazing Si! It looks awesome too, but then again, I do have a thing for all black basses.. 😁😎 Anyeay, GLWTS Si, And sending you very best wishes also for the imminent arrival of your new baby daughter! 😊
