  1. πŸ€” I think it might have been me you sold it to.... πŸ™„ So I'm a complete and utter barsteward on two counts! πŸ˜‚ But thanks for the glowing review of these cabs.. They are very, very good!
  2. Thanks @Lozz196 I don't know what the science is behind Schroeder cabs, but they do seem to work really well..
  3. Hi Folks, Schroeder 21012L 1000w, 4 ohm Bass Cab, with fitted Hotcovers padded cover, for sale at Β£SOLD . Schroeder cabs are hand built to the highest quality by Jorg Schroeder in the USA and you would be looking at somewhere around $1,000, plus import & shipping costs to buy a new and equivalent model. This is the lightweight 4ohm cab rated at 1,000 watts. As can be seen in the photos, it's loaded with two front mounted 10” drivers and a 'folded' 12” neodymium driver, plus a 200w titanium bullet tweeter (adjustment for the tweeter is mounted on the rear input plate). The cabinet weighs approx 49lbs (23kilo). Dimensions = 60 cms x 62 cms x 42 cms. Input is either via standard jack or by neutrik twist connector. Also included is a heavily padded HotCovers cover (over Β£50 new). The cab is working perfectly - drivers, horn and electronics are all good and doing what they should. I would describe the exterior condition of the cab as 'good' , though it's clearly been used, as the photos show. I bought this at the start of the year on Facebook and have enjoyed using it at rehearsals and gigs where it's performed admirably; it's loud and punchy, and the unique design means it fills the room with ease! However, I’ve decided to put it up for sale as I want to go back to using bass cabs with ceramic magnets, as I just prefer the tone of them for some reason (even though that means carrying around a cab that's a lot heavier than this one). I know that makes me a Luddite, but hey - I can live with it! 😁 Anyway, enough of my foolishness... This is a great cab and priced to sell to someone who I hope will make good use of it. Collection from Potton, Central Bedfordshire much preferred though fully insured shipping (at buyers expense) is not totally out of the question if that's the only way to get a deal done. And I'm also happy to drive up to an hour from my location to do a classic 'Basschat meet up' somewhere mutually convenient. Trials welcome here in Potton and there will be plenty of tea/coffee on tap for you whilst you test the cab out with your own amp and bass to your heart's content. Any questions, please ask here or send me a PM. Thanks for looking. πŸ‘πŸ˜Š Cheers Nik
  4. Another beautiful bass Brian - where do you find them? Looks cool as 'f'.... 😎 And probably sounds just as good with those upgraded pick ups! GLWTS
  5. Echoing all the positive comments made here about @Lozz196... I just had the pleasure of catching up with him for the first time since one of the pre-pandemic South East Bass Bashes, purpose being to buy a guitar stand from him. What can I say; top bloke, great to deal with and an all round Basschat legend... T'was a brief, but great bass related conversation as ever, and here's to the next one Lozz! πŸ™‚ Thanks for the stand btw - which is perfect.. And for the quick look at your very nice Fender JMJ Mustang, which is uber-cool! As Paula Yates once said about Prince : "small, but perfectly formed." 😁 See you at the next one... Nik
  6. Oh no.. One of the all time greats! RIP πŸ˜”
  7. I think that's it - this whole topic of discussion, like so many here on Basschat, is very subjective. We each have our own tastes, preferences and real-world band/rehearsals/recording /gigging situations to navigate. If you're happy using amps and old school PA set ups with monitors - great. If you're happy with amp modelling and IEMs - great. It's not a contest IMHO, or it shouldn't be. The important thing for me is that, as musicians, we can each get out there and make music to our hearts content on a regular basis, whatever way we choose to do that. And if you're lucky enough to have that going on in your life, long may that continue... Going back to the issue of subjectivity, we had a band using amp modelling & IEMs play at my Charity's Gala Ball in March. They had a great attitude, easy load-in and load-out, nice stage set up and they played/sounded great. In fact, the bass player had a really good sound through the PA. Having said all that, to my ears at least, the overall sound and vibe was a bit tame and a bit sterile. Did the audience notice or care? No, I dont think so. They were just happy to have some music to dance to... In fact, when the band stopped, the audience continued dancing to a playlist for about another half an hour and the dance floor got busier. As I think @BigRedX alluded to earlier, most audiences at gigs don't notice this stuff and they don't care about it either; it's only us musos who have the time or bother to talk about this sort of stuff. And knowing Basschat as I do, I expect that we'll still be doing that in another 20 years or so, by which time the songs will all be written by AI/Chat GPT and the music and sound will be effortlessly and artificially generated out of the backside of a Robot that look like the silicon lovechild of Lewis Capaldi and Lizzo.
  8. Wow - what a transformation! That looks fantastic @carlsim πŸ‘πŸ‘ Just want to say that these basses are amazing - the passive tone alone is superb! I don't know what it is Xotic put in those pick ups, but it's bloody good stuff.. 😁 GLWTS πŸ‘
  9. Lovely looking /sounding bass, and a great For Sale advert too... GLWTS πŸ‘
  10. I posted the video to show a example whereby, very experienced musicians and sound engineers, have chosen to go back to using guitar amps - instead of the amp modellers they were using - because, in their experience and within the context of their musical setting, the guitar amps offer a tangible sonic improvement over what is currently available sonically from amp modelling products. Their particular gigging situation is obviously more rarified than most of us ever get to experience, but nonetheless, their choice is testament to the fact that guitar amps still offer something important and unique that musicians, sound engineers and producers value.
  11. Very sad news indeed. πŸ˜” RIP Keith
  12. Wow - really sorry to hear about your accident and the struggle to heal afterwards, @Clarky! Sending you some positive vibes for the sale and for your recovery.. πŸ™ GLWTS πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  13. Thanks. πŸ‘ But I've still got absolutely no idea, Chris.... πŸ˜‚ Being the old git that I am, I don't know any pop music released after 1982.....
  14. That's fantastic - and all credit to the guy busking for seizing the moment!
  15. Brilliant πŸ‘πŸ˜Š Which well know singer was it Chris?
  16. Beautiful looking P Bass! I had one of these some years ago and it was a joy to play and sounded great. No doubt that this one will be too... GLWTS 😊
  17. Awesome! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š Same thing happened to some friends of mine in a band called KXB (from West Sussex) some years ago... They were playing 'Gay Bar' at one of their regular local Saturday night gigs, and Tyler Spencer, aka Richard Valentine, Electric 6's lead vocalist got up from the crowd and joined them on stage!
  18. Very sad news indeed, and I echo all the comments made so for - John was such a creative and musical bass player... I saw him performing with Kate Bush in London in 2014 - his work with Omar Hakim on those 'Before The Dawn' shows was truly, truly exceptional. RIP. πŸ˜”
  19. Just sold a Bass Collection P Bass to @Ralf1e.. It was a very easy transaction from start to finish and Ralfe is a really nice person to deal with and chat with and he's definitely a credit to this Forum. So, I'm more than happy to recommend him to everyone here on Basschat. Thanks Ralfe - it was a pleasure to meet you today and I really hope you enjoy the bass! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š Nik
