  1. I meant when she has moved into the spare room...
  2. @uk_lefty - why can't you use the current tiny nursery room for storing your kit?
  3. Clack attack? Wasn't that a disco group?
  4. The only way to play Ace of Spades convincingly is to play it like Lemmy did. Watch some YouTube videos - he wasn't shy about demonstrating the differences between him and pretty much every other bass player! In a nutshell - loosen your right wrist, hit it hard and use your left hand to mute unwanted strings, including the thumb over the top technique for muting the E-string which tutors will all tell you not to do.
  5. Don't pay too much, they seem to be strangely overrated at the moment. When I was learning bass around 30 years ago they were cheap, but alright. Now there is a growing belief that they were extremely high quality instruments which I don't think they deserve.
  6. This is possibly the most interesting thread on here right now, and not that it were needed, proves beyond a doubt that we are all different!
  7. It does look slightly twisted in the first photo - I have one that's much worse and it still plays ok.
  8. I like Infected Mushroom, quite often their tunes sound like classical heavy metal played on synths instead of guitars. I dabble in a bit of dj mixing..
  9. That's interesting, I have always failed at singing and playing but have never tried using a pick. I must try it out...
  10. Isn't that the correct way to use one?
  11. If only Peavey Milestones were ridiculously heavy - we could nickname them Millstones.
  12. Plonkety plonkety plonkety in my case!
  13. I have really tried to make 3 fingers work - I can't stop it sounding like triplets. I have wide hands so there is a significant difference in the tone across the 3 as well.
  14. It's much easier to play fast and consistently with a plectrum, for me anyway.
  15. MA was a perfect exponent of 'it's not what you play - it's how you play it'
  16. One of the first songs I learned to play. I wound up playing bass by default - my 2 best mates both played guitar and insisted I learn as I wasn't doing anything else! One of them sat me down with a bass, stuck on Van Halen 1 and showed me what the notes were. 😈
  17. I am open-minded enough to think that music is still getting better generally - rock or otherwise. To suggest that anything has peaked closes off the subject for future expression. I haven't peaked, I'm only 46!
  18. It's not old - look at the truss rod adjustment.
  19. I have one of these - they're great! That's a bargain.
  20. Once again a fantastic experience buying from George - great comms, super fast despatch and a well-priced item. Thanks mate!
  21. That's a common scam tactic on car forums (I always want to write fora - something to do with doing Latin at school!) new user just so happens to have exactly the part you have been looking for, along with every other wanted ad of the last month.
  22. Apparently they didn't! Schoolboy error.
