  1. Thanks - yes it is a 'proper' fretless - not de-fretted. I had a fretted one too a year or so ago and that was also a fantastic bass!
  2. For sale - possible trade, my Washburn Status 1000 Headless, Fretless Bass in really good condition for it's age, with just a few small dings / marks and not too much of the obligatory buckle rash. This is an original fretless and not a de-fretted model It's a cracking Fretless and only for sale due to an impending £1000+ car repair bill...... Oh and a lack of Fretless playing talent of course!! Here are the specs:- Status Hyperactive Jazz Style Pickups Status Brass Hardware Through neck design Stepped Volume Control Variable Pan Pickup Selector Status Active Preamp with Pan Bass / Treble Control Strap Locks Original Status Branded Hiscox Lifeflite Case Currently sporting flat wound double ball ended strings Just had it set up and had the Luthier add temporary fret lines to the side of the neck - which alas didn't help my lack of talent - to aid intonation, but can easily be removed if preferred. Would ideally prefer cash - as my car managed to wait until the second week of the year before it died again!! But may be interested in a small class D amp in some sort of trade / px etc?? Markbass would be good as I am missing their VLE & VPF filters. I believe these are quite rare as a factory Fretless and having owned a Status headless Fretless in the past and I actually prefer the 'woody' sound of this to the graphite bodied Status for a Fretless sound, even though the Status was a superb instrument.
  3. they don't slip at all - just not black, or original - damn OCD !!
  4. Thanks Jules, they work OK - it's just that two have been replaced by 'one piece' units and are not black - mmmmm - so it looks like I need the knurled knobs 'and' the thread assemblies All the best Tim
  5. Thanks for the reminder - hopefully it will be Howard to the rescue - yet again !!
  6. Hi chaps, does anyone have, or know where I can obtain either two, or four black, Hohner Jack/ B2 / B2a etc round knurled tuning bridge knobs and thread assemblies please? thank you
  7. Great Guy & an absolute pleasure to deal with !! Many thanks Will, hope to deal with you again soon - fab !! Tim
  8. Thanks Guys - gulp, better start saving !!
  9. Hi Chaps, I realise it's just a chance in a scrillion - but does anyone have, or know where I can obtain a 1960/61 Fender volume and a tone potentiometer please??
  10. Thanks Guys, Very much appreciated !!
  11. Hi Guys, what would you think the chances are of a 1968 P bass having a birds eye maple neck being factory fitted & original from new ?? Ta very glad .
  12. Nor me - thank you very much.
  13. That's what I thought! so it was 'never' an original stock option / feature then??
  14. Can't recommend Fender CIJ or MIJ '62 RI Precisions highly enough - superb instruments - outstanding build quality & value!!
  15. Hi chaps, has anyone ever seen a strap button fitted to the lower horn in addition to the one on the top horn on early Fender basses as per the below pic??
  16. Think my head just exploded !! it's not a Precision is it ??- great bass, just wish I was young and clever enough to understand it - good luck with the trade !! ps - I've owned a few Status basses over the years - currently have an S1 fretless - they were all fab and I still yearn for a bog standard Kingbass - just love the body shape - type bump !!
  17. Thank you - very much appreciated !!
  18. Probably one for the Fender experts - is it possible / feasible for an L series serial number denoting 1964 to have a June 63 butt end date neck attached?? Even allowing for the Fender modular build system - 7 months apart may seem unlikely wdyt?????
  19. The 'Hob - Nob' of Basses .......... 'again' !! Love my passive Jack, the post says it all - headless / thru neck for not much dosh + fits into a guitar case and therefore out of sight in most car boots / stays in tune for ever / lightweight / can't recommend these fat wires strongly enough type bump!!
  20. Hi Kev, welcome to the forum - I'm guessing this is your 4HS with a swampash body, tortie plate & lined fretless rosewood board - drool !! - get some pics up & share the love !! I'd have this in a heartbeat if I wasn't so in love with my Status S1 fretless & couldn't let her go to conform to the 'one in - one out' policy - so kindly instigated by the current kitchen viper post my descendancy into fossildom !!! Good luck with the sale, but I don't think you'll need it!!
  21. Buggeration! too far away & I'm not going to the Bash !!
  22. Just my luck - been waiting for two years for one with this spec & it's a lefty !! Great bass - good luck with the sale
  23. tee hee !! - but seriously folks - ask a good quality luthier to build you a fretless of this standard & spec - then make sure you are sitting down before they give you the price - unbelievable value all the live long day - someone will be a very happy boy or girl !! Dip yer bread as we say up north !!
