  1. Every time I read the title my mind says: Absolutely nothing. Say it again UH! for some reason.
  2. My mother used to tell the tale of when I changed the plug on her iron. I was nine at the time and she didn't dare plug the thing in until my dad came home and checked my work. It was safe and properly installed! LOL Change the plug for a proper 13A fused plug. It will save messing about later with questionable adaptors.
  3. Just to nit pick a bit but the tubes you installed would have been 6L6GCs. Had you installed 6L6s they would have failed almost instantly. When talking tubes the letters are important.
  4. In all the many years I have been playing the thought of how much my amplifier system costs to run has never entered my mind. Remember that an amplifier does not produce it's rated power all the time - only when pushed that far into a suitable speaker load.
  5. In the early Seventies I used a Fender BASSMAN head into a Marshall 100W 4x12. I left the UK in October 73. Here I used a Sansui 5000 receiver and a couple of Traynor 2x12s one on each channel. I then designed and built a 150W tube amp which I used into the Eighties.
  6. @Dan Dare Perchance did you read the Eagle comic as a younger person??
  7. And I sincerely hope it never does!
  8. The now defunct Bass Gear magazine tested them both and these were the results. Over here this subject ran rampant for quite a while.
  9. Although the Genz Benz Shuttles are no longer made they are fully supported by member @agedhorse How that support works in Europe he'll have to say.
  10. Class AB with a Toroid power transformer compared to Class D with a SMPS.
  11. Solid State in the Sixties not so much. The reliability just wasn't there yet. The VOX T60 was solid state but used Germanium transistors that would tend to cook themselves at regular intervals due to thermal runaway.
  12. Kinda defeats the purpose of an ultralight amplifier!
  13. Actually they both have the same output power when tested.
  14. Yes but that's just a small place and I bet you did have PA support.
  15. The actual lack of output power would be one! 236W doesn't get you too far.!
  16. Try linking the Send and Return of the Effects Loop with a short signal cable to see if that helps. If the amp has a Pre-amp out / Power amp in sockets link those too similarly.
  17. I can see you'd really need a stair climbing dolly to move that thing!
  18. I'm glad my new MacBook Pro is not equipped with Smellyvision! LOL
  19. The unit wil need a different power supply to work in N America.
  20. I made a project of my home lighting switching all lamps tp LED. In what we call the studio, my Baby Grand and rehearsal spot are in that room, the difference from incandescent is astounding. We only have one non LED lamp now and only 'cos the touch dimmer will not work properly with LED lamps. Y'know Andy I truly believe that you have done just about everything!!! LOL
  21. Off topic a bit but when the hall in our company building was redone. all the existing lighting controls were scrapped. They used massive Variacs capable of 2000W as the dimmers and they were all scrapped. Well, a few were repurposed. I have one and I added an AC socket to it, a power cable and an output AC voltmeter. It sits in the workshop and is used as needed.
  22. We're gonna have to cut your internet feed!!
  23. It's just a bit of fluff circuitry that can go wrong and possibly cause some problem down the road.
  24. I've never been a fan of mixing driver sizes in the same air space.
  25. Just discovered that the eldest of the brothers in Liverpool has had it and is, thank god, recovering! I'll kill him when I see the bugger next I swear!!
