  1. I've owned one for several years and use it as my 'B15' vintage sound, usually with Fenders. It's the DB's. The tube DI is also very good and well received with sound engineers. It also powers my (small) effects board. They are very expensive to import though.
  2. Just check the Eq settings on his Acoustic top....I was impressed by the attention to detail
  3. Am I the last person on this site to see the Bob Marley Movie 'One Love' (albeit I couldn't see a thread for it here). I saw it at an open air movie theatre in Switzerland with sub-titles in French and German. These helped a little with the trickier bits of patois I have always liked Reggae, but never really got into it. This movie made me curious and has made me think a lot more about how it's played and the relative role (and sound) of the instruments. Any other thoughts (or threads) out there?
  4. The interview looks like it's posted as a vid now on No Treble
  5. I saw him play with Steely Dan in London a few years ago and he played beautifully. Sweet Love by Anita Baker is also one of my favourite basslines to play. This vid is a great contribution. Thanks for posting.
  6. You would have noted that my Precision is a Lefty pretending to be a Righty......
  7. I think I just figured out how to do this...
  8. Had the beer got into your camera Jack? Has someone lefty just randomly asked for their maker's transfers be put on upside down, or was it a luthier's vengeance?
  9. Are you implying a Womble played on 'Relax'? Now that would have been good to see live
  10. Blimey, without taking anything from that (which was fantastic) I thought FGH were slightly infamous for having session bass players playing the album tracks?
  11. One of the more insightful vids I've watched for a while. I need to find where I left that pick! I was so glad I saw Tim play with TTB, but I now understand a lot more what he was up to, and why he was in the band.
  12. We once played Knebworth (the village hall, which happens to look out onto where I would guess the festival was held). For many years Hugh McKenna from SAHB had been our piano player (now VERY sadly RIP). I was sitting next to him outside said venue...me with pint, he with pint of Red Bull. I asked Hugh....so you supported Led Zep here didn't you Hugh......what was it like? And he turned to me and said: 'do you know there's about 10 years of my life I can't remember Piers'. He said it in his characteristic ironic way, which made us all laugh. He was so glad he got off the rock and roll lifestyle and had many happy (if slightly impoverished) years playing with us. Meanwhile, I am still slowly ticking off those Camden Pubs! Great thread by the way...I'm waiting for the first BassChatter to claim Woodstock........
  13. Presumably its the twisty mountain passes that attracts the bikers. One of the most beautiful parts of the whole UK. Enjoy! (gig not the drive)
  14. I particularly liked the description of Rosewood fingerboards being added as an option because players didn't like the look of dirty fingerboards. Clearly Custom Shop wasn't a thing for some time
  15. I parallel tested my 77 Precision against a Lull Precision in Bass Direct a few years ago. I came away thinking my Fender sounded more Precisiony (Read Peaches: Stranglers sound), but it ways a ton and I have had to do quite a lot of work to keep it up to snuff....so horses for courses.
  16. Perhaps he is the only one that doesn't pay any attention to the (very nice) vocals??
  17. I really liked your vid. Tight guitars, great harmony vocals and a nice looking Mike Lull Bass (?). What's not to like!
  18. Was there anything in particular that made Fender start making them then?
  19. That's almost the first year of factory produced fretless P Basses isn't it?
  20. Is that proper Lake Placid Blue?
  21. Do you know where the Wal is now? I often wonder where mine got to. Do you know its Serial Number?
  22. Thank you Tony. You've joined the fun . Who needs Facebook!
  23. I stand corrected! Mine's 1982 (with a single string guide)
  24. It has twin string guides too, which reinforces the idea it's slightly later.
  25. Serial Number?
