  1. hi there, would you be willing to post to scotland ? thanks.
  2. hi, this ad was originally looking for a double bass player, but due to lack of response we have decided to broaden our search and are now looking for an electric or double bass player to fill the roll. Its a mixture of bluegrass and celtic, pop, country, and all things rolled in to one. We are based in the glasgow/areas and we rehearse and gig as much as we can, travelling anywhere and everywhere. We like everyone in the band to take solos but its not compulsory, as long as you can lay down a big fat groove . cheers , jimmy.
  3. double bass player req d for bluegrass, celtic, pop, country, original and covers band. gigging and rehearsing weekly. we are based in glasgow but we play and travel everywhere. must be of a high standard. cheers, jimmy.
  4. great playing mate, laying it down wot a great tune to play on..... luv it
  5. whole thing sounds tops, good job guys, great band. yessss
  6. bought a boss tuner from col , fast delivery and no probs at all, pleasure......
  7. what would be the best way for me to do that mate ? the wires im using are well screened , is there any better way for me to earth it rather than what im doing, i.e. its just jammed in the input jack . cheers .
  8. hi there, iv put a precision pickup on my double bass mounted at end of fingerboard , two wires from pickup th the jack socket but theres a loud earth type buzz when plugged in. i v put a short cable from inside the barrell of the input jack (the jack cable holds it in place) and the other end going to, and wrapped around the E string on the tail side of the bridge , and this seems to stop the buzzing , what am i doing wrong . cheers for any help, jimmy.
  9. Iv had lots of probs with the realist trying to get a reasonable giging volume without any feedback issues , it sounds ok at very low volumes but so would any pickup i guess. I done a gig last night and for the first half i had an sm57 mounted on to my bass and it sounded good through the p.a. and i had a feed through the monitors, but not a lot of definition. Second set i decided to use the precision pickup i had put on the end of the fingerboard during the week as an experiment. with a bit of EQing it was awesome , suddenly i could hear every note , i could compete with every solo , this band gets louder as the night goes on , and i got louder too yesssss. It just seemed to solve a lot of probs for me instantly ! For a plug in and play without any hassle at all type of gig, and especially if you need volume, the mag pickup worked for me. the quest goes on, lovin it......
  10. hey thats very kind of you , im waiting on bassman getting back to me regarding his kent armstrong mag pickup, i thought id try it to see how i get on. thinkin of maybe using that and blending in a mic . i ll keep you posted mate , thanks again, jimmy.
  11. just another question , is there any earth buzz or anything like that associated with this pickup ? its just that the precision pickup iv got on my bass at the moment is really buzzy through my amp, and its the last thing i need . cheers again , jimmy.
  12. Thats a good call guys, but im now skint after forking out for two sets of strings in the last couple of months. need to get some more cash and if its still there id go for it .
  13. thanks for the advice guys , i put an old precision pickup on my double bass tonight (loud as fcuk) sounds like a big fretless. not a double bass sound , but im going to leave it on as a backup. I think this combined with a mic could be a hassle free setup for live playing for the moment, untill i get more cash to try other pickups. cheers. the quest goes on .
  14. hi there, im looking for any advice on pick up choice. iv been using the realist pickup for a number of years now and iv never got what i call a decent sound from it. I know a lot of people rave about them but it aint working for me. Iv resolved most of the feedback issues with blocking the f holes and putting foam under the fingerboard and Eq ing , but another two gigs at the weekend with a bad sound drives you crazy. iv tried plugging straight in to an amp, or into the effects return, tried using different d i, but it looks like this pickup aint for me. iv ordered a new set of strings (helicore hybrids), and im looking at getting a new pickup maybe a bassmax ? but another £100 is a lot of cash if it still doesnt work for me, any advice from anyone is greatly appreciated on which way to go. thanks, jimmy.
  15. set of super silvers for sale, been on my bass since 22nd march, i wanted to try them out , but iv always used steel , and im goin back to them. £45 posted. cheers.
  16. cheers mate , prob a bit more than i can afford right now though.
  17. Hi There Looking to buy a recording interface and wish to record up to 4 tracks simultaneously into pc. I'm currently using windows 7, mixcraft 5 (which is capable of multi recording), but my sound card is only capable of recording lef/right/stereo. I've got an Emachine EL1352 with a standard sound card. Can anyone recommend a compatible onboard/outboard card that will give me the ability to record up to 4 tracks at the same time. Help!!
  18. hi there , dont know if youd be interested in a set of innovation super silvers as a part exchange of some sort ? iv always had steel strings on my bass and bought these to try them out but prefer steels . cheers.
