  6. hi all, just looking for some advice/oppinions on what kind of double bass strings to put on my n.s. wav bass. iv tried basschat member, endorkas bass which is fitted with pirastro flexicor strings and it sounds great, and sounds very close to the real deal.and louder, portable, and without the feedback probs, just a great substitute for certain gigs. The only prob is the price of these strings, a whopping £147. just wondering if anyone can give me any other ideas on what strings i could use on the wav to get the same kind of sound, but hopefully a bit cheaper. cheers in advance for any info. jimmy.

  11. thats cool, i know what you mean.
  12. i love playing solo bass, and got so tired of going to jam sessions wherepeople would give you this weird look when you asked if you could play a solo spot, i think they dont know what to expect, and most are surprised when you play something melodic(from a bass eh, i dont believe it) so i usually sing something to get them warmed up, and once iv got them i can do what i want. I try to get people to forget the instrument and listen to the music, its all about the music. I love to groove with a band and be very supportive, but its great to do your own thing and be happy doing it. on you tube type (just the way it is eab) is a clip of some solo stuff links i done ages ago and im still having fun on the bass. what a great way to help pay the rent. cheers.
  13. cheers again steve,i dont know anything about pickups, but when the bass had no output after i tried to raise the pickup with the adjuster screws, i discovered that the two solder joints had come away, and also the top of the pickup came away in my hand(the polepiece part),. i tried to put the wire back on but could,nt get it to work. I dont have the bass right now as its in the shop, or i could have posted some pics(i should have done that in the first place). its hard to explain, but if you look at any pictures on the net of the 51 reissue tele bass ,and that kind of pickup, you may be able to see what i mean. cheers again for your help.
  14. iv spoke to the guy at guitar guitar in glasgow, and without looking at it he tells me its beyond repair? i dont know, but iv decided to order a new seymour duncan replacement just to get it working again. all i done was try to raise the pickup cause the e string was too quiet compared to the other strings and the top of the pickup came away, sorry i touched it now as its gonna cost me.i think its been a very poor connection anyway. oh well wont do that again. cheers guys.
  15. cheers for all your help
  16. both the wires are off, so it looks as if its a new one. i,v put it into a shop in glasgow. cheers stevie.
  17. hi there,i have a reissue precision(tele bass butterscotch) i went to alter the pickup height on the tiny single coil, and the wires came off the solder joint and the top of the pickup came away, iv tried to repair it but cant get it working, and the pickup wire is so thin and fragile.any one know how to fix it(can it be fixed) cheers in advance, jimmy.
  18. thanks for your reply, its one of those things were you want to get as much info before you buy. keep me posted when you go out and use it on a gig. cheers.
  19. hi there, anyone had any experience with the audio technica atm 350 mic for double bass, i want to mic my upright. i v got a realist fitted witch i feel is ok at low volumes, but want the true accoustic sound to shine through. i will use two mackies to reproduce the mic sound out front, and use my eden with a 1x12 for a backline. i,v seen some one use a sm57 tied on to the bass , any one tried this, need a good loud authentic sound to compete with guitar drums piano, is there no easy answere to this age old problem, maybe not ? im sure everyone goes through the same i cant hear myself(tuning) problem cheers.
  20. my problem was the practise amp i plugged into was buzzing on its own! i plugged into my eden head and the bass was so quiet and the emg,s sound great. thanks for all your help.
