  1. You won’t have gone wrong with that Yamaha, they just done make a bad instrument at any price point IMO. My first foray into bass was with a Yammy BB300. I did, however, return to the guitar full time . But I saw the error of my ways and returned to fold many years later and my first (second time around) bass was a Yammy RBX 270 (I think). To echo @PaulThePlug’s comment, this is Basschat and we even have our own emoji for posts without ‘evidence’...

  11. And obnoxious. The whole scene seemed more about the rivalry (Oasis vs Blur, etc) than the actual music. For my own tastes, Britpop in the '90s is where music went to die. YMMV.
  12. You're an absolute legend for listing this! From one of my favourite top 10 (probably top 5) albums of all time. Back OT: Tracks of my Tears - Smokey et al and the Q Tips

  15. My 33” scale Maruszczyks came with their short/medium gigbags and just fit comfortably. My Mustang fits in these very nicely length wise (the Mustang is 108cms long) with about 2-3cms to spare. https://www.public-peace.de/accessories/gigbags-suitcases/bass-gigbags/electric-bass What with the stupidness that currently is post Brexit, European shopping, it might be worth asking Bass Direct if they could source one, as they do the more premium, leather ones already.
  16. Stamp Your Feet - Donna Summer
  17. Mr Short Scale, Scott Whitley, agrees with you.
  18. Goodbye Pork Pie Hat - Mingus
  19. Someone, Somewhere in Summertime - Simple Minds
  20. A preamp pedal may give you access to some eq frequencies not covered by your amps eq section. It may also buffer your signal, preserving our signal through long cables if you use a passive bass. Some have a DI out (thus potentially bi-passing your amp altogether). Some can add some drive if required. I use 2 on my board, a Sadowsky SBP2, which adds a certain something that my amp certainly can’t do (it also helped alleviate my Sadowsky bass GAS) and a VTDI which can add drive if I want and gives me a DI if the amp falls over (I actually bought it originally for its midrange boost frequency with a particular bass that my amp didn’t cover as much as I wanted).
  21. Arriving Somewhere but Not Here - Porcupine Tree
