I went down this rabbit hole some months back and narrowed it down to 3: the Nordstrand NP4; the DiMarzio DP122 and the EMG GZR. I then listened to numerous examples of these 3 and any one of them would have been excellent. However, I did finally rate them in order of my preference: 1 GZR; 2 DiMarzio; 3 Nordy. Really nowt in it, although the full replacement electronics, with no soldering, swung it for EMG. I then did nothing about it, as I was abstaining from gear purchase at the time .

Playing a gig aggravates my tennis elbow. However, having tissue work from an osteopath and wearing KT tape means it’s slowly getting better.

If there are only a few songs in standard tuning, I’d go Eb tuning and just play those few a semitone up. Conversely, you could X-tender crazy and have 4 fitted! Very Michael Manring.

Mine had a habit of becoming unscrewed until it finally self destructed, whilst plugged in to something. Managed to remove the tip and pin, but it was not for fixing. TBH I didn’t think it was any better than other leads in terms of tone, a little different, but not better. My favourite leads still remain George L’s, although Mojo cables are good too (I have both).

No argument here, but that’s what I remember him being quoted saying.

The Jolly Farmers was a fairly regular gig for my old band, until there was a disagreement. 🙄

You’re not the first person to notice that. It was shared kit and backline for the night and our drummer prefers one rack tom. As it already had a mic on it, he swung it out of the way, rather than take it off.

First on in a 5 band line up, for the A92 scooter club March of the Mods, charity gig at Beat Generator, in Dundee (I hadn’t realised how many proper name bands have played there previously, quite the alumni). Played the same event here a couple of years ago and didn’t enjoy it as our hour set was cut to 50mins before going on and turned out to be about 40mins, due to over running/poor organisation, earlier - utter waste of time. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that I approached this return with trepidation. However, we were a replacement band, doing a favour, so we angled for going on first to avoid a repeat of the situation. It’s a nice sized stage and was good for throwing a few shapes, especially as the rest of the band are fairly static, when playing. Proper sound check and we kicked off at 5:30. You’d think that would be playing to staff and walls, but no, plenty of folks in (it was sold out) and our set had them dancing from the get go. In short, it was great, despite the drummer messing up Town Called Malice for the last verse. Home by 8:00! Played my custom, Maruszczyk Elwood L, with gig appropriate scratchplate, through my usual MXR M82 comp, Tech21 VTDI (for grind on the appropriate songs), into the provided Peavey backline, which sounded absolutely fine. Footwear was Adidas Samba-alike, skate shoes (no pics ).

My Maruszczyk Elwood L (J type) has a full size body and 33” scale. The body fits absolutely fine, the head is a bit tight, but fits, pretty good for an SS gigbag. So in answer to your question, yeah, I reckon so.

Multiple band line up tonight, with backline provided. Sounds OK with my MXR comp and VTDI going into it.
