  1. I use one of these files and finish with a variety of fine, abrasive papers. https://www.stewmac.com/luthier-tools-and-supplies/types-of-tools/files/fret-end-dressing-file/?&pref_currency=GBP&shipcalc=UK&mtm_source=google&mtm_medium=cpc&mtm_campaign=|+GOO+|+SHOP+|+NBR+|+AllProductsUK&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzsmm1umYhAMV2ZpQBh1D-gZTEAQYASABEgK7HfD_BwE
  2. It was that album that lured me to the bass side, I even saw Paul and The Royal Family on the No Parlez tour, at The Lyceum in London, it was a great gig.
  3. Hmm, methinks Pino's memory is on the blink...
  4. 2? Good work! I nearly bought a Jake in that colour scheme and often kick myself quite a bit for not doing so .
  5. Aradite should do it for sure, especially if you add some ‘keying in’ points (some small cuts with a craft knife should do the trick). However, I’d go for regular Araldite, not the rapid, as I’ve found this isn’t as long lasting as it once was.
  6. Sealed With A Kiss - The Everly Bros
  7. Great score at a fantastic price. I am somewhat green with envy.
  8. It’s a clever mantra that just encourages people to go just one more bid.
  9. I guessed the Höfner but changed my mind on the Mustang, which I had right after the finger style
  10. My thoughts exactly. Always fancied a Gibson/Epiphone 1275 (very Page/Lifeson) but I'd never be able to play it for more than a minute or so.
  11. Gigs in the summer and spring of this year. Sounds like the place you want to be to hear some guy's somewhat skewed, invective about anything it seems. I'm interested by "basic competence" but a "good feel", they seem a bit at odds. As does "basic reliability and discipline", surely you are or aren't? Anyone responding to the ad might get to feel what Gilmour, Wright and Mason felt during The Wall period and beyond.
  12. These NBD threads are dangerous and can arouse GASeous urges for the strangest of things.
  13. Slug control tape from B&Q is a good place to start. My local hardware store were out of copper tape recently, I bought aluminium tape instead, works just as well.
  14. Just saw The Skids and From The Jam at Perth concert hall. A bit underwhelmed really. Sound was OKish, but I think I could’ve mixed it better (drums too loud, vocals too low). From a bass perspective, the bass player in The Skids played a ‘Ray, which was muddy and incoherent, whilst Bruce Foxton’s P snarled and was maybe even too loud in the mix, but it was definitely more articulate. Bruce looked rather old and tired as did Richard Jobson. Oh yeah, they played Town Called Malice wrong.
  15. I knew there would probably be a specific product available, especially given the existence of the Hofner violin, etc.
  16. I'd probably replace the tuners for something with a larger capstan.
  17. From The Jam, tomorrow at Perth Concert Hall, with The Skids in support.
  18. Surely a mistype, it was the ‘50s (original & ’57 P Basses, Telecaster and Strat all had all maple necks).
