  1. Today I shall play along to Babooshka as a tribute.
  2. OHMSS and YOLT are very similar.
  3. It’s John Barry at his stylistic best. I like the way David Arnold used certain JB motifs, when he took the musical reins. You Know My Name is full of JB type horn arrangements and lines.
  4. I so want this to be wrong .
  5. Quoting myself, I know, very déclassé. Just spoke with the man, down to just 2 these days.
  6. Nice to hear that neck pickup and judicious EQ being used, thus negating that nasal tone often associated with fretless.
  7. Nice to see a CAR as opposed to Fiesta Red for a change. Me like. GLWTS
  8. I always preferred Ted’s playing.
  9. On the upside, I saw Ashbone-U-Wish many times and they were always great. Full disclosure, the members of AUW were/are good mates of mine, but that didn’t influence my opinion. The bass player, an occasional BCer, actually depped for Bob Skeat on one of the WA tours; he is a man of many T’birds.
  10. I never saw them with the original line up, or with Laurie. However, I have seen the 2 versions of WA probably more than any other band. Unfortunately, I’ve always been underwhelmed.
  11. It’s a shame that Ted didn’t have that same confidence in the early days. I think he had the best voice of all of them and was the ideal candidate for a front man. Things might have been very different.
  12. Still looks cooler than a cucumber in Raybans though. Always fancied a white one like Martin Turner’s. Bring out a medium or short scale ‘bird and I’m all over it.
  13. Dive, dive, dive? Are you referring to the tendency of T’birds to be unbalanced or have you chosen the wrong Gerry Anderson series? All that silliness aside - nice!
  14. Yikes, that's horrible! May you return to full strength ASAP.
  15. I think a lot of folk think that they should’ve started sooner, myself included. But then, I’m reminded of something Morgan Freeman said about getting into acting so late in life, he said something along the lines of at least he’d started doing it, the other option was not to have done it at all, which was much worse than being a late starter.
  16. Just joined a band this year after a 3 year lay off. It’s about attitude, not decrepitude.* *Except where ailments cause issues to playing, but that’s not necessarily an age thing.
  17. Due to lockdown and the purchase of a new bass, I practised so much I gave myself a mild case of tendinitis. However, the nett result was that my chops were and are better than ever. 60+ here.
  18. If you can afford it, it gives you joy and makes you want to play, stuff what anyone else thinks.
  19. Just back from a rather splendid gig, 10 minutes walk from my front door. It’s not every day that an ‘80s star visits the boondocks.
  20. I have some low moods and, when I was working, sometimes I’d not notice, just putting it down to being a miserable git. Then, during one episode, I noticed that I hadn’t picked up my basses for some time. This, of course, made me pick them up and bingo, mood started to improve. These days, I try to pick them up everyday.
  21. But it is spot on for metal.
  22. Only if it's a celluloid one, with the metal shielding underneath.
  23. The voltage your adapter puts out is 9v DC, so yes, it’s fine. I’ve used these myself (I love CPC, they do everything).
