  1. There’s a video (on SBL I think) of George saying how most people play it wrong, Pino included.
  2. The bass lines to Cissy Strut and Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley are iconic.
  3. Cradle Rock - Rory Gallagher
  4. Thank you so much, that’s very kind of you. We followed this up by recording Don’t Give Up, but the lockdowns ended and people in the collective started gigging and teaching again, so we never got around to making a video to accompany it, which is a shame, but great that the other folk are back out there and busy. There is talk of putting the music to a generic video image, but even this seems to be taking time.
  5. Last Train To Clarksville - The Monkees
  6. Danny’s tone is just to die for IMO. I first became aware of him when this sound emanated from a friend’s hifi…
  7. The original version of this song always makes me happy and playing it even more so. It was a privilege to be asked to play on this and a delight to record and film. It’s not a hard line, but that doesn’t matter to me.
  8. Descriptions on Anderton’s say rosewood, as does the Ric website.
  9. Ahem… Rickenbacker.
  10. Ooh, I like that!
  11. To my mind, this is to balance the output of the series setting against the single/parallel settings. If you decide you prefer the latter two, engage the boost and adjust the knob height so that the lower output can’t be selected.
  12. £300 doesn’t get much from a physical store, otherwise Thomann and an HB of some sort would be in play. It would need to playable and reliable straight out of the box and that shouts Yamaha to me, so a TRBX of some description, probably this one… At £259 I reckon that’d do very nicely.
  13. Where are you based? It’s always extremely likely that someone might be moved to offload one of their collection to a nearby BCer.
  14. I was thinking this, certainly can’t hurt.
  15. The shorty Stingrays are nice and quite small in the body if that’s an issue and there’s one in the for sale section. For great value for money you can’t beat the Harley Benton MV-4M (such a sexy name 🤦🏻). At around £200 delivered, it’s a solid purchase with some nice hardwood and plays well out of the box. Don’t overlook the Ibanez semi acoustic shorties if that look floats you boat (the AFB200 and AGB200) are well within you budget. The Player Mustang gets a fair bit of love too. For the record I have a ‘Ray, JMJ and a Harley Benton Mustang-alike.
  16. You need to chivvy your friend along. A bloke gifts a bass to a chum and then takes his time delivering it. Some people.
  17. My Hardly Bent One Mustang alike…
  18. Not listening to it right now (I’m enjoying some silence, well, tinnitus silence anyway) but I have been listening to some Be Bop Deluxe, as inspired by @Beedster’s new build project. Futurama and Sunburst Finish are just stunning pieces of work.
  19. It's a good thing that this is a long, long way from Ez Towers. 😬
  20. A great example of a situation being defused to the point of absurdity and then taking on a life of its own. Here, with some obvious thread exceptions, there are just lots of eyes rolling at the screen without the the need to put fingers to keyboard. It's a different kind of approach and BC is certainly the winner because of it.
