  1. D'Addario XLs are a good solid all rounder. Like a pint of Guinness, you know you'll get something decent.
  2. DR Lo Riders GHS Boomers D'Addario Prosteels Any of them in at least 45-105 gauge will do.
  3. She should really get a ticket for a seat then... seriously who does that?
  4. I don't go to gigs anymore because I can't stand people. God, look at them being human and everything.
  5. 1. I have a Diago power supply but need to power 6 (maybe 7) pedals. What is the best daisy chain cable for this to use with the Diago? 2. I need a pedal board that can fit 6 (maybe 7) pedals - all my pedals are standard size, nothing bigger than Boss size. What is out there that you guys can recommend? 3. I assume velcro is still the standard for holding pedals down to the board so is there any particular velcro I should go for? Thanks in advance.
  6. It needs two switches! Won't be purchasing because of this.
  7. This makes no sense - the first statement sounds like you have a light touch so could get away with a really low action. The second statement makes it sound like you play harder than you do - don't understand why you would raise the action (especially after a set-up) if you have a light touch?
  8. Amazon UK when DR strings are marked really low. Bass Specialities on eBay is good.
  9. Next gauge up I would say? GHS have tension charts on their website.
  10. How many horror stories have we heard on here? I wouldn't trust Parcel Farce with a book let alone a bass.
  11. I've been using Sunbeams for years but standard Dunlop nickels come a very close second. Their Super Brights are good but just too floppy for me.
  12. One that always makes me laugh - "Best bass I've ever had but I'm selling it". "Best girlfriend I've ever had but I'm moving on".
  13. Tell me about it! Wish Bass Direct did more gauges of them.
  14. You could just buy some Fender 7250s which are the stock string for that bass.
  15. I would say they're the Roto Solo bass strings - might be the US version because of the coloured ball ends?
  16. Thanks for all the help so far guys. I think I may try it out to see how I get on. I've come across these Dunlops which look like they should have no problem with the BEAD tuning - 60-120 gauge! https://www.jimdunlop.com/product/dbn60120-7-10137-04570-5.do?sortby=ourPicksAscend&page=2&refType=&from=fn
  17. Went over Cochise at rehearsal and my guitarist told me for that song I should be using a 5 string or alternatively restring my Jazz BEAD. Apart from gaining 5 extra notes, what advantages are there to stringing a 4 string bass BEAD?
  18. Jealous! What weighs more, the head or the cab?
  19. I myself have tried to support the local scene but have given up. A lot of the original nights are free, some are a fiver to get in (none of which goes to the band - I know from playing the same venue). The problem I find is I don't think many bands are that good in my area; a lot of them have been doing the same sort of music for close to 20 years, maybe 10 for the younger ones. There might be a line up change here, an image change there but all their music sounds the same - no one is really doing anything different.
