1.
A black Cat was the third bass I ever owned in the late eighties and the first I gigged. I think I ended up having it defretted. Sure it's landfill by now. Bump.
You know, j think I defretted mine too. How funny. Putty in the fret gaps then a layer of boat varnish. Not a pro job by any standards!!!
2. I had one of these, it was a really good bass. Cheap, decent neck, P/J pickups - I loved it. I totally destroyed mine with a screwdriver, sandpaper and a chisel.
3. Christ, that's some beautiful equipment.
4. Maybe that's the difference between wives and girlfriends?
5. This used to be mine about 8 years ago. My girlfriend at the time hated it...!
6. I had one of these strung with flats. It was absolutely fantastic, and looked great on stage!
7. I've had these for a good 15 years, but they're still in good working condition. Black, about a metre high, and bloody loud! Unfortunately, there is some slight damage to one of the cones, but it's a cheap and easy fix. FREE to collector in Brislington Bristol. PM me...
8. It's incredible that they are able to charge a £9.50 booking fee. In fact it's absolutely disgusting. Good luck with the sale, I hear he's a fantastic showman (aside from kicking footballs into the crowd).
9. Hi, I've a couple of bass and guitar books to shift on. All prices include postage. 'Concepts for Bass Soloing' - by Chuck Sher. Comes complete with CDs. This is great for the jazz lovers out there. £11 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Concepts-Bass-Soloing-Chuck-Sher/dp/1883217008/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1401955705&sr=8-2&keywords=concept+for+bass Red Hot chilli Peppers, Blood Sugar Sex Magix Bass and Guitar book (tab and notation) £8
10. They're 45, 65, 85 and 105. The classic range!
11. Bought a set of these but they don't really fit my style of playing. Used once, cut to size (for a jazz bass) and then removed. £15 delivered seems fair?
12. I had one of these, it was incredible. Unfortunately, I had a problem with the input crackling whilst I was on stage at the Royal Albert Hall. Couldn't use it after that. Lovely basses and this is being the original German ones made so beautifully is a collective of the future, without question.
13. An extra hole? Christ. My 1966 jazz bass is utterly battered, but is still the best playing bass I've ever had the pleasure to own.
14. A reasonably priced and beautifully presented vintage bass. I take my hat off to you, sir. Good luck!
15. Damn, I always wanted one of these…!!! Looks like an absolute beauty to me.
16. No worries. Seems like a good price. Wish I had a pre-Ernie Ball Stingray! Good luck with the sale...
17. I assume you mean £60 each? Reading it as it is, your maths seem a little 'off'. :-) Good luck with the sale!
18. This is a lovely looking bass and the work you have done seems genuinely sympathetic to the bass. I wonder, do you have a picture of the end of the neck and is there a date stamp? I'm interested in the bass and am just trying to find reasons to stop me putting in an offer.
19. With all due respect to the OP,, after owning at least 4 1970s Jazz basses with genuine factory natural finishes, they all had huge amounts of lacquer on them. This has a distinctly 'matte' finish that, to me at least, is only consistent with a stripped body. With regards value, that's up to you, but I would suggest that you seek some expert advice about this bass.
20. Hi, can I ask where you are based?
21. Basses are built to be played. My 66 Fender has cigarette burns, a stain from a pint glass and a bite mark! Buy it, play it, love it (and get insurance!)
22. Looks like a beauty. I know these perhaps aren't as desirable as the early 60s ones, but they often play wonderfully. It also looks the business! Good luck with the sale. I have 0.001% of the sale price.
23. Hi Sean, I'll take these - hoping to come through Glos next weekend if that's OK? Will make a donation to Basschat as you recommend...
