Err, we've been here before. Whatever my views on the sale price, this guy can advertise whatever he wants on this forum at whatever price he wants. If you want to discuss it, go somewhere else and let him chat with potential buyers. If there are none, and the price comes down, that will be the market dictating it instead of a forum of people who've never seen or played the bass in person. Just feel sorry for the guy. I had a similar experience recently where I advertised some DVDs for sale, only to get a really rude reply about how stupid I was for not checking their current price (on an offshore DVD site) and that I was an idiot for trying to rip people off by selling them for more than they were new. Suffice to say that I had never seen this site and priced them based on their value in Zavvi. His reply was short, and to the the point but ultimately I reduced the price of the DVDs.

Jesse is the best guy in the world to take it to. A Sound City can have about 40,000v current whizzing around in there, so DO NOT attempt to do anything on it unless you are qualified to do so. And you might mess it up too. Jesse will do it for a few quid, fixed a Hiwatt I had for £5 once and the chance to crank it up!

As the topic suggests, I have a... EBS Proline 4x10 Cabinet in awesome condition. It comes with a full custom fitted flightcase, built by the Flightcase Warehouse (at a cost of £175!!!) and I just sold my amp to the quite frankly super-awesome Lee650. £450 - no offers, collection only Warwick 4U Flightcase I have a few flightcases, a virtue of being a degenerate collector of band gear, and this is in great condition. One minor scrape, and one handle is no longer spring loaded, but it's good to go straight away. £50 + £12 delivery Will take Paypal, cheques etc. and can send pretty much as soon as payment is recieved. Will get pictures when I can, but the items are at the studio at the moment. I have lots more bits for sale as well, so keep an eye on the listing, I will add more!!!

Lee bought my EBS 350 (sob, I love you amp!) and made everything as easy as the most easiest thing in the world. He was even fine about me forgetting the kettle lead! Which is pretty poor on my part, I have to say. Thanks again Lee, and good luck with everything - the EBS, the lady, gigging and life. You're a true gent. Sadly enough, today I got the bill for my motorbike's ABS unit, which was around £700, which is about 1.5 EBS amps, so if you ever fancy a swap :-)

Hi everyone, The time has come to move this bad boy on. I've finished with my last band, and no longer need something of this size or capacity really. The set-up is your classic EBS HD 350, which is an amazing amplifier. The cabinet is a classic Pro-Line (not Neo) 4x10, which kicks out an unbelievable sound when coupled with the 350. The amp and cab are both professionally flightcased, a job in itself which cost over £250. The head (I had two) is in a 4U case, the cabinet in a sleek and well fitting lined flight case. You can then plonk the head on top of the cab (which has wheels of course) and move it wherever you would like to...! Both of these are to be sole together and I'd like to see the best part of £1,000 for them, but knowing the market for professional band gear, I'll say: £900. I'm in the strong position of being able to deliver these to you, but this would be commissioned for and paid to my business. I've not got any pictures of the items, but if it's going to sway you, I'll go and get some. Otherwise, you know what they look like! Don't make me resort to ebay :-(

'73 fretless Jazz WITHDRAWN and '69 fretted Jazz SOLD
Jebo1 replied to Beedster's topic in Basses For Sale
LOL, not sure I believe in the concept of 'the one' Lawrie. I doubt the Wal will warrant the title any more than any other basses I've owned. I seem to be leaning more towards fretless now hence my not really playing the '69 much. Andy's right, I'll never get another 40 year old bass at the price he kindly sold it to me for, but it's likely to end up being a 40 year old piece of furniture way things are at the moment. BTW, I'm sure you offered you '66 for sale a while back
Well, I don't believe it for women, but basses, I'll go with it. Look at our celebrtiy bass players, I remember talking to Norman Wattroy about his 62" Jazz and that was 'the one' for him. But, a bass is still a plank of wood and keeping my house was more important at the time I have to say than the one! But I've got a new job now, so she's secure... Inheritance for the kids that. Good luck buddy, and the Wal's are great basses. I found my couple too heavy, and uncomfortable for live work, and the baseball bat necks too thick. But what do I know? -

Jebo1 replied to Beedster's topic in Basses For Sale
Seriously though Chris, it's an odd feeling when you find 'the one'. I guess you're going through a series of one night stands, but maybe invest in a more longer term relationship. But when you've found the one, you'll know. Here's hoping the Wal is going to be the one and you can leave the sale pages alone :-) When I found the 66' I realised I'd never play another bass, and I haven't - although it did cost me somewhere around £3,500. I checked my bank balance last night for the fretless, but alas I can't. Tip, never own a Land Rover. -
Morning Doc. There is no evidence of markers on the binding ever having been between frets. On that basis it's likely that the binding isn't original. It is however, extremely old as it has faded with the lacquer on the neck & the fine lines in the neck varnish associated with a bass of this age also run onto the binding. All things said, I think it's best to assume that the binding is NOT original, although it's certainly nicely aged in keeping with the bass in general. Hope that helps Chris
Hi Chris, to add my 2p. This fretless 'mod' was very popular in the later 70s (listen to pretty much any soundtracks from the time and that hollow fretless sound was in abundance), and the only way many luthiers did it was by lifting the whole board off, including the binding. If you look at the construction of a bound jazz neck, it's pretty much impossible not to. The only way would have been to have lifted the board (with binding) and then take the binding off and then shape a board which would fit perfectly this binding. Basically, time consuming, expensive and unnecessary! I always think of these lovely marked boards slumped in a corner somewhere (especially as I've paid a decent amount for hand cut pearl inlays), but that's the 70s *spit*. In conclusion, it's going to be changed, hence the side dots *should* give you a decent indication of where the notes are. But unless done with expert precision, don't go with them, you become a master of fretless by using your ears not the side markers! Lovely looking bass by the way, very similar to a 'parts' jazzer I had in the past, and seemingly well priced to, so good luck with the sale. -
Well spotted guys, Indeed I have put the price up. I'm sure you are aware the true value of this bass is well above 2 grand. I origonally invited offers of over £1250 but had a load of timewasters offering between 900 and 1200!!!! hopefully this will help me avoid having to deal with tyre kickers Regards
I guess the problem is by asking for "offers over" - as a seasoned buyer and seller, I'm used to someone naming a price and then beating them down, rather than someone seemingly naming the lowest price they'd sell for and then working up. For me, it doesn't work - and clearly that's the case here. I was one of the 'timewasters' who I believe (if I remembered righty) offerred you around £1100. I don't think that's too bad for an undesirably coloured jazz, and in this market where the value of all instruments is falling, sometimes cash is king. And what do you lose by offering? Nowt :-) Good luck with the sale however.

Jebo1 replied to Jebo1's topic in Basses For Sale
TO be fair to everyone, I'm going to struggle to do anything with this before christmas, and so I'm going to put this on hold until after the Christmas period. I'll update the listing. Inbetween losting my job and doing some gigs I've had no time to even thing! In honesty, I should possibly not have listed this here without pics, so for everyone who has gotten annoyed with this, I am sorry. -
