1. Hi, I really need some help with my new aquisition. It is a 1972/3 markIV sound city b120. The problem is when that all the sound that comes out of it has horrendous fuzz distortion on it that all that it turns what you are trying to play into a wall of noise, and for a short period the treble pot when turned up gave an awful high pitched screech. In addition when i flicked the standby switch on once i got an electric showck that numbed my arm. Any ideas how i can go about fixing thisl, or if anyone knows where a valve amp tech is in the southwest (Bath/Bristol/Swindon area) I would be very grateful. Cheers
2. http://www.geocities.com/smrsek/bass/ This has a load of really good ones on it. They are pretty accurate aswell.
3. Tried the Artec Big Dots Tuner..... is brilliant got one to replace my korg one which had given up the ghost.....is really clear and is a little bit different, is very repsonsive and picks up the lower tunings well as i tune to DCGF in one of the bands i am in and this works a treat. Cheaper than the TU-2.
4. "Don't be tempted to take the finish off it though, you won't find anything nice underneath (lesson learned the hard way!)" Cheers.....you saved me a job next weekend. Will Leave it black. P-bass Getting sprayed flecked orange next week WOOP. Brass Scratch plate on order, yay.
5. Hey Guys and Gals. I am a youngish bass player from the West Country. Have played for about 4ish years. I play mainly jazz or funk. But have recently had to fill in for a local metal band, no idea why i agreed to do that. Have a a couple of instruments. Fender Mike Dirnt P-Bass, i have modded it to the extent to which it can no longer be associated with green day. A Yamaha TRB 4II, Yamaha RBX 374 and a Vox Standard bass (picked up at a car booty for 35 bills ). Amp wise pretty poor, Laney RB3. Use a few effects pedals, Big Muff, Little Stone and Cry Baby. Dunno why i bought the pedals, sounded good at the time. Don't like the sound in a band set up.
6. I would very much like to trade my 1998 Yamaha TRB 4II. Is a Japanese made TRB unlike the new Korean built ones. Colour is Amber Burst. Really Nice Colour. Similar in a way to Sunburst. 3 Band EQ and Brass Hardware. Has got Two Very nice active humbuckers, with a precise pickup selector to 'dial-in' the sound you require. This is a long scale bass. Has great sustain, the neck is Strong and True, no Fret ware at all. The Neck is thin compared to my precision bass, and allows access to all the 24 frets. Is Currently in with the Guys at Vintage and Rare getting a set up and new strings, so should play amazingly. I have had no modification done to the bass so is factory specification. Am looking for a trade, preferably a jazz but remain open-minded.
