1. Good stuff, well, I can't afford £900 on something like this, so it isn't going to be mine...!
2. Well, the usual way of doing these things is to put down your sale price, not to start bidding for an item (it's not ebay, it's Basschat!). This is going to cause confusion and annoyance for people. Best just say you got your original price wrong, and say what you think it's worth... Then you're not misleading anyone. Hope this helps.
3. Fair enough. I've been looking for one of these for 10 years, so yeah, it's going to get played! I spose I'll wait for you to make a decision. Cheers, L
4. I reckon I was first by a few minutes, but we'll wait and see :-) Been looking for one of these for nigh on 10 years now! Hehe, I'm excited already!
5. Yup, I PMed about 10 minutes ago too :-)
6.
i dont know how much P@P is on something like this. any ideas?
Postage will be about £5 recorded for a well wrapped up pedal.
7.
£180 is cheap - depending on what it needs. A filter cap job is around £75-125. depending on who does it. Transformers are £45-75, depending on source (I have some out of PA heads). Good working 120s are going for £250(street) -£350 (shop). Anyway - what valve anything do you get for less? Roost? Sola Sound? Elgin? Nolan? Carlsbro? Nothing with those fat Partidges.... A decent Selmer Treble 'n Bass is £300 anymore - and try to find a working 100w. The Stateside chap who bought my Hiwatt 400 used to run a Sound City website in the States. Worth a Google....
Good advice here. I remember my valve amp dealing days, those musty old things. I used to strip them out, and make a fortune selling the bits - until they got too expensive. I advised my friend to go for a Hiwatt PA100 - same circuit as a DR103, and it sounds great in his studio... No worries. Good luck with the 120, and let us know what you think of it if you do get it...!
8. Sound City amps were designed by Dave Reeves, and so have a very similar wiring spec to Hiwatts, his next amps. The build construction is good, although the front panel often feels flimsy. I used to deal vintage valve amps, and you used to be able to pick these up for less than £100. Now, I'd say £180 is a fair price for one with no changes. A full service, a set of matched valves and a re-bias is going to set you back a few quid, so I'd say go for it! Sound wise, they're great. They've been used by a lot of the great artists, usually before jumping to Hiwatt. Mind you, if you can afford it, I'd go for a Hiwatt. But that's just me.
9.
Hi There, It was going back to V&R this weekend but family commitments mean it will be the following weekend which ties in nicely with when the insurance runs out. The photos do not do it justice, it has plenty of scars. I am sort of tempted to hold onto it for the next 20 years but could do with the money really. Steve
It seems like a beautiful bass. In my opinion, it's a good time to sell as I think you'll get top dollar (or pound or Euro) for it at the moment, and I can only wish you the best of luck with it. I think that the price will stabilise somewhat over the next few years, as it has been going bonkers for a while... so the investment might not bring the massive gains we've seen over the past few years (I regularly got offerred 65 basses at a shade over £2k 5 years ago). 76 jazz basses for £1700, whatever next? Especially when you can still pick up a 76 or later Precision for about £500. For investment, I'd put some cash into Precision basses. But then again, my gas might be cut off next week, so investments will have to wait!
10. Err, to be honest, the reason I sold it was because I actually wanted an EBS Bass Chorus. I was hungover when I bought the Octabass, and when it came through, I realised it wasn't what I needed! Stupid as it might sound, I didn't realise until then. So, I had the pedal and didn't need it (I've got a Boss octave) or want it, so I had to get rid of it! Madness I tells ya!
11. Played in London at a place called The Bedford, maybe 100 people there and was webcast which was brilliant fun. Played my pink P-Bass and got smashed. Saturday was a prog night at a place called The Peel in Kingston. Full electric set, where I did some stand up comedy when we had some technical issues on stage! Great gigs, lots of Jagermeister and Red Bull. Fun was had by all, and I found a US Fender Strat for £200 in Brixton. Very tasty!
12. Hi all, I have a grey EBS Octabass pedal for sale. In great condition, but I have no need for Octave effects at the moment. £50 with fully insured recorded delivery. Cheers, L
13. Bump for no apparent reason than I want to sell it.
14. Best bass amps I have ever used. No question about that...
15. Errr, this now has to go, so will entertain offers. Obviously, the offers must be cash (rather than sexual favours!) Hehe.
16. Wow, that's all I can say! Immensly attractive bass there, and glad to see a body that was sat around my house (there aren't any more - I'm not Fred West!) has become something like this. Have you got any sound clips? I bet she sings!
17. Hi mate, I did but it's gone now :-( Cheers, L
18. Here are some pictures folks. What you get is: the guitar + near mint hard case Floor unit 1 x 24 pin lead 1 x M16 cartridge Stepdown Transformer for the floor unit. It's a lot of gear for the money! All joking aside, it's a lovely and very rare synth that needs to be used, and I don't.
19. I had one, amazing basses. If it hadn't fed back in front of 4,000 people at a gig I would kept it, as it was she had to go :-) Good luck my friend!
20. Here we go, pics at last! PMs if you want more/any info etc.
21. Nice. Super collectible for the future no doubt about it!
22. Well, thanks for all your replies. I've just bought a grey label EBS Unichorus. Hope I made the right choice!
23. Hehe, let us never speak of this whole charade again! Good decision, she looks wonderful.
24.
r u sure that the 73 precision guard is original? the reason I ask is that I can't see any tug bar holes
Hi mate, if you mean Thumrest holes, in 73 these were position either above the pickup or below. The happen to be above the pickup. I'm 100% sure of its authenticity. Cheers, L
