Jobie , mate Listen to yourself. Do the clever thing - take it off trade/sale and go get it fretted. Job's over.
Why bother? A decent fret job will cost £100. Why not get a MIJ Fender neck from the states, that way, you have a fretted and fretless necks! Cost you about £100 all in.
hello this pedal is wierd. there is no way around it.. basically you create a chain and add this to it and it mixes the two effects together in maddness.... oh and it also allows you to control the amount of feedback on your guitar/bass.... very strange eg I mixed a delay with a reverb and put it into it and it scccreamed at me.. in a nice way anyway heres a link to picture and write up http://www.tonefactor.com/proddetail.php?prod=M%F6bius £70 p&p
I sold one of these for £30, and bought it on the site for that amount. Can't remember if I sold it to you! But they're not worth £70 dude, they're $79 new Don't want to mess up your sale like, just being honest!

This is one of the greatest amps ever made, and you're selling at almost £1000 off the asking price (they sell new for £1395). It was made 'bass amp of the year' last year in Guitarist Magazine. I've not seen a better deal for a long time. The heads themselves sell for £400...! Amazing amps, amazing price.

I had a few beers with a well known dealer last weekend and when he told me how much my 66' CAR was 'worth' I nearly spat out my beer all over him! Still, it's got a custom made flight case (proper one, not Flightcase-monkey-warehouse) and it's the only bass I'm comfortable with, so it's been all over the UK and Europe with me. Has to, otherwise it's useless to me! I do the Marcus Miller thing and drop it off at the hotel and never let it out of my sight if I can help it! Might come down and see aynsley at the Thekla that week, nice venue that one nowadays (used to be a right sh*t hole!)

Thought so, still very nice. To be honest, better to take them out of the house if so! I don't like to take my 60s originals out (even thought they're all fully insured all the way round Europe).

Are the 61 and 64 refins? Very nice basses indeed. I've always loved a pre-CBS jazz or two.

Gigs you look forward to, and gigs you dread
Jebo1 replied to bassninja's topic in General Discussion
I completely understand what you mean! I've just started playing some sessions for this new singer-songwriter playing toilet venues with a load of young guys (well, I'm only 26 and they're about 23, but you know what I mean!) and I wasn't looking forward to the hand-to-mouth existence - I'm used to a bit more class with the other stuff I do. Have to say though, it has been fantastic, really, really great fun and the gigs - wherever they've been, however poorly attended and however sh*tty the venues have been great to do! -

Hi all, it has come to this that I've got to get rid of some of my guitars, so I'll put this one up here (don't really want to ebay it yet). It's a 1973/74 Jazz Bass. This bass was bought from the original owner, and is in untouched condition, honestly, this bass is near perfect. No changed parts, solder joints in tact, the neck hase never even been unscrewed. The bass comes with its original case, which whilst having a few bangs, is ok. The coveres are all there. Basically, this is an investment grade instrument. I'd keep it but I can't afford to. I've got another 4 guitars on the way from the states so I need to let this one go to fund those! £1700 I'll post pics later today for you to see it :-)

Eude, Eubassix - sounds pretty much the same to my aged (well 26) year old ears :-) It's a brilliant looking thig. My dad was amazed by it, and wanted to learn to play it haha! Cheers for the bump :-)
Aha! It's my old Electric Upright! Brilliant instrument, I just wasn't using it hence selling it on to meester Jebo. I imagine it's pretty much a marmite instrument, but it plays and sounds real nice. Oh, and it is a one-off and it was indeed built as a prototype, as a precursor to the compact headless uprights Bassix did a while back. Have a bump on me bud! Cheers, Eude
This has to go, so offers etc. Again, must collect from Bristol. Hi all, I've got for sale here my one of a kind Bassix Electric Upright Bass. I believe it was built as a prototype by Bassix... Maybe you could give them a ring and ask! I bought this from Eubassix last year I think, and have and lots of fun with it. It is what it looks like, a flying V electric upright bass! This bass looks amazing, and has always made people smile when I've played it out. However, I need to move to something rather more classy (hopefully Sibobs Shuker Upright, or an NS Upright). The bass has a piezo pickup, which sounds great although doesn't kick out as much volume as you'd expect. I used to use it with a booster. The fretboard I believe is maple, and the body, well, I don't know! The bass is a 3/4 length one (I think) and comes with a decent spike at the bottom so you can adjust it to the correct height for yourself. It's currently strung with some old strings, which would need to be replaced. With a good set of strings, I reckon it would sound great, just like a Bassix should. To be honest, this is a show offs bass, and is a lot of fun. I used to play Police tunes to my niece on it and she used to love it! It's based in Bristol and due to its size, I can't post it. I think I paid around £350 for it, which I'd like to see back. Trades wise, hit me up with what you've got, but be aware, I don't drive so it's a collection job. Be the envy of all of your friends with this one! Now £200!!!!
yeh, it is a shame that there was the misunderstanding about his sale and i'm sure it'll work out. there seems to be association between auctions with a lack of trust - almost certainly from experience of ebay - and i quite understand that; but when ebay first started it was a pretty safe place with trust between buyers and sellers, it just got too big... If something was sold on BC by auction it wouldn't make any of us less trustworthy, after all we're only talking about the mechanism for finding a price - start low and go up or start high and come down. in my experience that happens however you try and sell something!
True, auctions also however encourage competition and can engender resentment amongst people, also there need to be strict rules. Auctions are legally binding, and usually carry a firm commitment amongst the seller and buyer, something that can't always be said of Basschat transactions (no blame, sh*t happens!) Concern has been raised previously that Basschat has been used by some (and to be honest, I'm on the sale section quite a lot) as a glorified free ads section, which is something that it's not here for. Having auctions and encouraging competitive buying practises strengthens this claim, and I think is something that shouldn't be encouraged. When I sell something, I damn well know what it's worth, and I price it accordingly (and through Basschat often a fair few £££s cheaper than I would sell it for on ebay). I'm going to end there as I don't want to take up more space of this fine instruments listing space!
Jebo1, I agree that auctions have their own set of issues, but whether they're overall "a very bad idea" is, i think, another question. one thing they would stop is people saying "i've seen them new cheaper/not much more than that" etc. which is an issue that has been discussed on many occasions here and is a bit unfair to the seller - unless of course they're blatantly taking the p**s! as you say "it's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay!" and isn't an auction just another way of finding out? i'm not saying it should become the preferred method for selling on BC but it's not completely invalid in all cases.
I think auctions work for things like auction sites, where you pay a fee and it's regulated etc. Basschat works almost entirely on gentlemens agreements, which is rare in this world - especially with people I've never met before. I mean, I went into Barclays bank and deposited near £400 into Birdy's account after a few emails, some nice phone calls and prior transactions...! That's trust! The pricing of an item is the individuals responsibility, so you've got to do your ground work before you put something up for sale. I mean, a completed items search takes 5 seconds on ebay, or typing in (insert your item here) into google with the word 'sale' afterward will give you enough responses... It's not rocket science really. Plus, auctions often end up with you getting less for an item than you envisaged. Who's to say that the Chapman Stick would have ended up selling for £600 - it is a niche instrument, that's for sure!... If I wanted to use an auction site to by my gear (which I don't usually) then I'd use ebay. Lets keep Basschat pure and based entirely on the trust of a great community which I'm proud to say has always been incredibly fair and honest to me, and I'd like to keep it that way. Had the seller here put £900 as a sale price, there would have been no problems. Perhaps we could get rid of all this stuff and let him relist it or something...?

I think the idea of an auction on a site like this leads to all sorts of issues, and is a very bad idea. It's much easier to state clearly the price you want and then work from there (usually downward in my experience!). I also find it annoying when people say: "Make me an offer", or "Offers over £---" as they've always got a price in mind, so why not say so? (In this case this hasn't happenned, so don't take any offence). Perhaps the seller was unclear about what the conventions were on Basschat, and made an honest mistake. I don't know what a Chapman Stick is worth in the UK in 2008, but have seen them (in my time) go for between £550 - £900, so I felt £600 was a good price, but not taking advantage of the original owner. Obviously it is worth more than that (As the number of comments have shown), so I'll bow out with no recriminations. As for turning Basschat into some quasi auction site, no way in the world is that good. Lets see if the Chapman Stick gets sold. It's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay! My search continues for one...!
