  1. There was someone a while back selling an unfinished Hayman/Shergold neck on ebay...
  2. Would anybody like an old Philips CD618 CD player? It's just it, no remote (I think any Philips CD remote should work), played when last used and then the hi-fi got set aside. Collection from Berkshire.
  3. I was just looking at the auction site before coming here. (Remember fees, VAT, etc. to be added to the hammer price.)
  4. Darn - I was just looking for one yesterday and I contacted the chap who makes them, but he said he was taking a break but might get back to them in the Summer.
  5. I would've gone for this, had I not decided to take a different route.
  6. Fingers crossed!
  7. Both the Stanley Clarke and the Microbass 3 have 2 channels. The 2 channels on the Microbass are different: one is pure and one is distortion, though there is a switch to make them series or parallel. You can wire the FX loop as stereo and then the XLR outputs become left and right. It's going to be "interesting" figuring out how to use it.
  8. It’s like Aria meets Alembic.
  9. I would’ve liked two channels for my Rics, but I think I’ll survive!
  10. It's more about where they've targeted the product, of course. The Microbass does have a distortion channel, rather than identical A & B. (Though actually, that might've been good too!)
  11. Yes - I did take the comment in good humour. 🙂 I would like a short-scale; maybe I'll pick one up one day.
  12. FYI, I've just ordered an EBS Microbass 3, which is the electric bass equivalent of the Stanley Clark acoustic one. I didn't try it out first, so it's on the strength of YT reviews; I've been dissatisfied with my setup for a while and when on reviewer said it can be thought of as an effects "hub" it hit the spot. One thing I would've liked, is an extra output in addition to the FX loop, so I could daisy-chain a 2nd board, but that's probably a step too far anyway (though using one of the DI outputs with an unbalanced converter would do it). If it goes to plan, it's going to elbow my SansAmps off my pedalboards.
  13. No - it is true!!! (I do suppose it is in the rules, but I don't have them committed to memory for every site I'm on; either way, though, it's still my bad.)
  14. Sorry - didn’t know that...
  15. ...it probably needs a new set of strings...
  16. If you're incistern...
  17. I did have a chat with @Silvia Bluejay a while back and we were wondering if it could be done with social distancing. Of course, playing other folks instruments could be an issue.
  18. Some rubber gloves, & disinfectant should sort it...
  19. I have one of these...
  20. If some cloth-ears can't tell the difference, then it's their issue, not mine.
  21. Precisely - Jaco who?
  22. I don't buy this idea that the bass & equipment doesn't make a difference; it's baloney IMHO. Chris Squire is being used as an example of a case where the kit is irrelevant, but he had a finely tuned ear and there's a video of him saying that the Rickenbacker CS tribute models sound "nothing like" (sic.) his original. So no, the idea that the bass, amp, whatever is irrelevant to the sound is just bunkum. Many musicians look for a sound which differentiates them; why would they do that if it made no difference whatsoever? Of course, if the greats had chosen a different sound, then there is a high likelihood that they would still be the greats.
  23. Oh lawd - now you've said it out loud!
  24. I am looking at buying a barebones bass which was originally a custom-made 8-string but has been changed back to a 4; I surmise it had the issue.
