  1. I think I like it!
  2. Rics are a big step up from the fakers. The 4003 rods are replaceable. I checked out a video of AC and he holds the bass at an angle and plays on the neck, so he probably got them to shift the pickups out of the way.
  3. Wow - you've never had a Ric? I find them very adjustable and they do the neck twist like it says on the tin. Plus, they are field-replaceable if they go wrong. If you are concerned whether they are in-step, you can loosen them and then do equal turns for each and tweak at the end, though if they were way off then one would be a lot looser than the other. I don't know about massive steps forward. Is that single truss-rod from the AC? The two visually obvious changes on the bass are: The new/prototype/custom bridge, which may well be a good 'un. The pickups layout, which suits his style, but won't a lot of other people's. If the bridge does make it into production it could well be an incremental step forwards.
  4. What will fit a 5-string?
  5. Just a mean face...
  6. I'm totally ignorant about them. What's a soprano uke and what others are there?
  7. But I do like to mess around too...
  8. I've got a set of PK-5A and they are rather good (though I would've preferred they were mains powered rather than using an external PSU). Once you learn the channel/patch/octave dance they are quite straightforward to use. I've got a 12-Step which I need to get to grips with; it's more of a program it via a laptop approach.
  9. I've got an RB 5-string I'm putting together from parts. Corvette body, Fortress neck, bridge, machines are on it. I need a pair of J- style pickups to finish it and I'll do the passive harness.
  10. I've thought about putting a Rickenbacker neck pickup on a P, but then I though I've got a Ric anyway...
  11. I might give one a go one day. They're a bit too Fender-a-like for me (though I see they do some Ibanez inspired models too).
  12. Is it a thru-neck design?
  13. My wood necked 5-string takes one battery.
  14. I've seen a number of Sandbergs, but I've never been inclined to pick one up and play it.
  15. I've seen that pic on FB - I do hope they don't go down that road; Rics have the best truss rod design as they stand.
  16. How about balanced in a diamond formation?
  17. You have to learn not to do it...
  18. Nice chatting and cheers for getting the book out to me so quickly!
  19. (It was slightly tongue in cheek;-) )
  20. So, how many folk are going to go and see them just to check out the new bridge?
  21. I bought a Westone Thunder for well under £200 last month. Which would you prefer - that or any HB?
  22. Is the Jazz an Encore copy?
  23. £220 for a knackered cheap copy with a fake Fender logo.
  24. My first Ric cost me £220.
