  1. Hi! I'll have that - cheers! (Are they replacement knobs?)
  2. I have one of these and I quite like it. I pugged in a computer and set option 1 on each channel to one I like, turned off the builtin FX and it sounds rather good.
  3. Yep - the 70s copies pre-date the trademark registration, so (provided they don't have a Ric logo) they don't infringe it. And anyway, they are no longer available new, so it's just chasing shadows on the 2nd hand market. However, I do have respect for the way they have stuck to their original base and not sold out & offshored. And those current Chickenbackers are awful!
  4. The problem for me with the old SB700/1000 models is that they are very large. ( I bought an SB700 new at the time.)
  5. Apparently they’re going to sue Rickenbacker for trademark infringement.
  6. My reaction these days when I see a Fender bass is “I wonder if it’s a real one?”; the fake logos thing has ruined the brand for me.

  8. That's a great album. I watched a documentary where Mark Farner said he got ripped off by the other members and isn't allowed to play his own songs now.
  9. I've said on occasion that Squire was just McCartney with the treble turned up.
  10. Ah, I am heading towards the bottom-left corner of Wales on the weekend, but that's still a bit distant. The problem with shipping one of those is the headstock...
  11. Yep - classic!
  12. Router around pickups - well, that is artistic licence...
  13. Yep - definitely modified.
  14. I once got flamed for saying I didn't know who Jack Casady was.
  15. It's very easy to miss his playing if you listen to the Beatles on the radio. But if you sit down and listen to the music a lot of the songs are like a self-contained how to play the bass lesson. A really fine bass player. (If you discount his Yamaha period.)
  16. I've previously bought from them online and at guitar shows; I guess no more, though...
  17. Yep - Hagstrom.
  18. The story of this bass is interesting; I think the bloke built it for a bet and hand-made the lot. The amount of work that went into it is quite staggering and it is certainly unique. However, the sad fact is that it is just not worth that amount of money.
  19. I think he moved to Birrmingham.
  20. I know it's sacrilege, but I don't particularly like her bass playing. The song ain't bad, IMHO; I could put it next to my Aimee Mann CDs.
  21. Some of the workmanship seems OK, but putting the cheapo tuners makes a statement about its makers' confidence in the product.
  22. Well, it would be possible to get it and re-do its derrière with a proper headless bridge/tuner assembly.
