  1. I've got an S1 5-string too; it's a nce, light, fast, comfortable bass. I'd replace it with a headless graphite one, but that would cost a heck of a lot more!
  2. I've got an AH150; I bought it new in the 80s and it did the club circuit fine, running through a Marshall 4x12. I've now also got an Elf, but I've not used it much - I just had to have one...

  4. It is probably the crappiest bass I ever saw.
  5. Ah yes - the lovely signature stripes don't go all the way along.
  6. I had an SB700, which was a nice bass, but very big; I always considered it to be the cheaper version of the SB1000 (which Jack Bruce used).
  7. I was planning on going on the Saturday; might check out Chris Childs and Guy Pratt.
  8. "Condition: For parts or not working"
  9. I reckon the price accidentally shifted a couple of decimal points.
  10. :-) I was thinking about a 12-step, but the USB-MIDI converter box seems a bit naff. I'm not surprised there's a lot of space inside a PK-5, really, as the logic board should be relatively simple; I wish they'd put the power supply inside, though!
  11. I was going to make an offer on that, till the "plays like butter" - I don't fancy having to keep wiping my fingers...
  12. There was one going on ebay rather cheap a while back; I was nearly tempted...
  13. PK-5A and minitaur is close (and cheaper!). The JV-1010 has a Taurus sound in there somewhere too. The Taurus 3 is a Taurus and a generic MIDI controller; I guess if you dial in the one sound, you can mentally block out the other options.
  14. Cabs are worth ~£80 each, so that leaves £80 each for the pre and power amps - seems a decent price.
  15. Yes - I was wondering if the vague comment that it needs some attention would be a get-out. (I preemptively contacted ebay to cover off bailing-out on the deal.)
  16. Browsing Gumtree I spotted this on offer: https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/bass-guitars-and-amps-for-sale-£160-takes-the-lot-collection-only-no-time-wasters-please-/1286370110 A Squier Precision, a Squier Jazz, an Ibanez Gio, an Ashdown combo, and another practice amp for £160. Well, I contacted the seller who phoned me back and we agreed I'd go buy it this afternoon when he was back home. Just before I set off the seller sent me a text saying sorry but he'd been offered more. Mildly annoying, especially in light of the "no time wasters please" stipulation! That's two deals today which have fallen through! (I'll console myself with the '78 Azureglo Ric I have successfully acquired today, though!)
  17. He's now offered it to the 2nd bidder, who contacted me for more info... Meanwhile, I've bought this today, a '78: (I have the bits to revert it to stock.)
  18. Yep. It's advertised as superficially scruffy, which is fine and what I wanted (and there's the switch toggle missing), but it's precisely the potential structural issues I need to cover off before I hand over a grand! The seller says it's at his parents and messaged me: To which I replied: The attempt to quote the "agreement" to me has got my hackles up, so I think I am now very trepidacious!
