  1. I've never played one (a Ric 5-string), or even seen one; I'm sure it'll happen some time. I do quite like added flexibility of a 5-string though, so it may just be a matter of time.
  2. Yes, I have to say that I think they look a bit "sterile" with a generic bridge. But some folks will be calling hallelujah!
  3. I’m thinking of the top 4 strings of a guitar with a capo on the 5th fret.
  4. I wonder if I’ll get one of those.
  5. It was a fiver to get in and Rotosound were selling two sets of bass strings for £30.
  6. I wouldn't use the word "exactly", but it does look a nice one...
  7. I've got a half-size guitar and am converting it to 4 pairs of strings D,G,B,E.
  8. Oh well, it had bids, so someone now thinks their bass is going to be a Fender!
  9. Ah - I used to have the Schecter parts catalogue back in the day. I never got 'round to building an instrument from it though.
  10. I have a couple of Gator cases which Rics fit in - I bought mine at Andertons. (They're probably better than the real RIC ones...)
  11. I've just got back from brum; I had an enjoyable day. The car park was full (it's ridiculously small for the venue), so I just parked up one of the streets and strolled down the hill - no biggie. Inside, I had a great conversation with Chris Childs (Thunder bassist - great band!) on the Strandberg stand, a brief chat with Tony Butler (Big Country), a short discussion with Becky Baldwin about custom-made pickguards, and put the world to rights on a couple of topics on The Fretboard stand. And various interesting people on the various stands. The sound levels were just right and pretty much everybody stuck to the hooter signalling the quiet periods - nice one, folks! In one of the noisy bits I got to play a 6-string headless fanned-fret bass on SBC's stand - a really fine, quality, playable piece of kit. As far as buying things, I came home with 3 sets of Ernie Ball guitar strings and two sets of Rotosound's new Ultramag bass strings (they should be interesting), but that's it, so fairly slim pickings. Gripes: suppliers didn't bring spare parts and there weren't any parts & oddments bins to rummage through, and that's about it!
  12. Thanks for putting that right - much appreciated
  13. I find it hard to trust "Fender" auctions & ads.
  14. I would've thought something like that too, if I hadn't remembered the new rules...
  15. I spotted that one today and reported it to ebay (don't expect them to do much though...).
  16. Ah yes - Autumnglo!
  17. Ooh look, that's my bass pedals!
  18. Montezuma Brown. i guess it has the elongated heel at the headstock end too. I've got a push-pull pot on mine so I can bypass the .0047 series cap, like they do on the 4003. I've no idea what those screws are for - it certainly wasn't the stock Ric pickup surround and it doesn't look like where they'd be for a 50s style pickguard.
  19. More Banjo than bass...
  20. Them pesky SansAmps which are the wrong way round!
  21. OK - it's not a real Ric...
  22. I missed that last bit - the company seems to want to insult its potential customers.
  23. This one's trying to break out of its whiteness...
