  1. I like the fact that this amazing thread is still going. x2
  2. It's the bit just before that: "From Roger Griffin: If in fact that is Bob Vosgien's guitar, then I certainly did build it". Notice the "if" word there.
  3. Well, I use 2 channels, so I can keep the dry signal, but it's still in unison playing the same notes. Now, if the Future Impact can add in some randomness, then that's no bad thing. But if you are having to do a dance on the pedal you might as well go for a Taurus or something; The Keith McMillen 12-Step allows you to assign 5 notes to each pedal.
  4. It's not that I got bored of stock Rickenbackers, but...
  5. The problem with using a synth pedal is you are effectively (haha!) replacing your bass with a synth and thereby removing the bass. If you want to add an accompaniment then you really need to start playing notes with your feet (or get a keyboard player).
  6. I have a Boss SYB-5 and I find its tracking a bit iffy. My EH Synth 9 is a nice pedal, but perhaps more of an accompaniment (the Oberheim is very good) than the instrument per-se. My Markbass SuperSynth (SS) is really good - great tracking, good sustain, configurable via computer. Its downside is it only holds a few presets. I've not tried the Future Impact, but someone had one at a Bass Bash and it seemed rather good. The other option is synth pedals; I'm just getting to grips with a Keith McMillen 12-step at the moment.
  7. It looks a nice guitar, but if it was made for Jimmy Page and is (tentatively) authenticated by his guitar tech, then why doesn't it belong to Jimmy Page? https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/gibson-1960-les-paul-custom-shop-made-for-jimmy-page-1992-sunburst/1331567300 (Either way, I haven't got a spare £20k, so I think I'll give it a miss.)
  8. Nope - if you zoom in you can see the pickup's aluminium base and also the walls of the pickup well.
  9. I've got a 6-way switch which I'll be wiring up one bass to give 3-way single coil and 3-way humbucker.
  10. 1. It looks right to me, based on the nut slots; of course, the angle of the photo makes it appear off. 2. Yes, crikey! Can you tune that?
  11. My '78 does and my '72 has a toggle switch.
  12. I've got two as well. (And an EVO 1 amp.)
  13. I've been doing a bit more work on it today...
  14. Yes; it's important that a man gets his priorities right!
  15. I've decided mine is going to have the black SD one, possibly today...
  16. I did work down the pit, though I already had my first Ric.
  17. Thanks - that's my current project; it's probably going to get the SD & black surround off the '72 fireglo (which I'm reverting to stock). The pickguard was a bit crooked in the picture, as it is a 2-part one and was only held on with two screws and a bit of tape, just to see what it looked like vs. a white one and a brass one (from @Beedster). With the pair of humbuckers I'll be putting on a Freeway 6-position switch. I do have an issue to resolve first, though, as the bridge won't go low enough just now.
  18. Masochist to sadist: Please beat me. Sadist to masochist: No...
  19. Ric prices are very variable at the moment; I bought a jetglo 2010 4003 for £1k last month.
  20. Yep - I was chatting with the new purchaser (they just outbid me); it was from the same seller I bought my midnight blue Laredo from too!
  21. You have to tell it like your experience. The rules are that the seller pays return postage, which is a bit of a ballbreaker if the item is mis-described. I once complained to ebay about that and they covered my postage as a gesture... In my case, it was as described and I collected (I sometimes let my purchases plan my day out for me), so I knew what I was getting.
