1. Dang, that Ice Blue P-5 is making me think nasty thoughts!
2.
If it sounds like the outboard pre then I would be well up for that!
The outboard, and onboard Sadowsky pre-amps are one and the same, IIIRC.
3. I've heard a few guys on TB recommend the Sadowsky pre as being similar sounding to the Musicman one before. Can't say for sure, but it may be worth a shot.
4. With the Hipshot quick loading bridge, you can swap strings in like 2 minutes, not a big deal, IMO.
5.
Can you fit these into a 2 band Stingray?
The 2 band, or the 3 knob - 3 band pre will fit a 2 band Stingray.
6. Use the 4th hole for a passive tone control, you could have it as a push/pull for active/passive, and have the tone only work in passive mode.
7. Crank your mids, if they're taking the bass and treble, slice straight through that big 'ol hole.
8. It's most likely because they're a much lower seller than the Stingray, less in circulation in general.
9. It's either an old Schecter pickup, or a Rio Grande "Muy Grande".
10. The Standards are one of, if not the best deals in boutique basses(unless buying used, of course), IMO.
11. Looks like with a bit of graft, you could have an awesome bass.
12. Not often a fan of tort, but it works beautifully here.
13. Crazy, crazy piece of buckeye! Gorgeous!
14. I've seen Roscoes with wood pickup covers before, but I'm sure they were Nordstrand pickups.
15. Agreed, be curious how solid that middle setting is. Buckeye seems to be the priority though, Hipshots are no big deal to swap out later!
16. What about one of them double drop tuners? Get both D and B.
17. I see! I always thought the LG, above the others, just locks into your body, like putting on a set of well worn gloves, almost don't realize it's there.
18. Interesting stuff, I'm just glad you'll be able to get something to suit you! Very surprised to hear it's going to be made as a LG.
19. And what the hell is with Ferrari and Porsche, eh?
20. Don't have much use for them. If I'm ordering a bass special, it'll only have side dots, unless I want some kind of inlay for aesthetics, like blocks.
21.
No, it was a Jazz bass in its original state when first purchased. What he did to it afterwards is up to him.
As was the Tractor, this is exactly my point.
Removing the pickguard is probably like changing the laces in your trainers from black ones to white ones. Removing the frets is like removing the laces all together but they still remain as trainers. Its like like they suddenly turn into Wellington boots.
Indeed, but technically Jaco's Jazz neither looked, nor sounded like Fender intended. Definitely not an "original Jazz" as it were.
