  1. Stupid cheap, I saw a five string go for £600second hand a couple of weeks back and thought that was a great deal.

    My 3

Wow it has, that was quick.

    My 3

Am I going mad or are there four there?
  4. If weight reduction is the only reason I wouldn’t bother, most of the weight comes from the incredibly well made cases, you may save a bit but probably not that noticeable. You would risk losing the TE sound, and if you lose that then why not just use a lightweight enclosure anyway?
  5. We put curry on the table in our bimonthly curry outing, next Wednesday we will be at The Delhi Divan for their fantastic three courses for £9.99 deal.
  6. I have one as my backup, fine for a medium sized room so fine for majority of pubs, would be ok in a large room if you don’t play too loud.
  7. Bob?
  8. Yup, it’s more of a duck egg blue
  9. I am the organiser in the band, whether it’s rehearsals or gaffer tape I am the one that sorts it. My bag of everything is part of our band folklore now, whether is a 9v battery, spare lead, cable tie or whatever, the chances are I will have one. I don’t mind as I can’t bear not being prepared atbthe best of times.
  10. It’s a beauty, I have been on the hunt for one for a while, but no luck on a 4 string so far.
  11. Never broken one but the E would be the killer. I always take a spare bass ‘just in case’ , in case of what I am not sure.
  12. Pearl Jam Ten, sex pistols never mind the bollocks and The Cure Wish, loads of others come close but I always go back to those three over and over again..
  13. Out of my price range sadly, but not surprised as having poked around the website they look truly superb. Nice to see a UK maker trying something new as well. Good luck with the project.
  14. They are gorgeous! What sort of money are they?
  15. Yup, I would have liked one big one to get some pressure in the middle but I think it will be ok as it is
  16. Got to be the Sex pistols, it must have been a hell of a ride for a couple of years.
  17. Cut and glued the plank today, it’s presently sat at work clamped up within an inch of its life. I have a pic on my phone I will stick up later. I also set up the bandsaw so I will be in work early next Monday and start getting it cut to shape.
  18. I finally managed to get to the wood yard. Sadly the range was wide in terms of type but very narrow in suitable sizes, so narrow in fact it was down to two. A European redwood, unfortunately with a severe warp that ruled it out and a piece of Sepele a poor man’s Mahogany. So much for the super light option. It was cheap so I took a punt. It will have to be cut in two and glued but I have just noticed there is a crack I didn’t spot which is a pain. It’s glueable though so wouldn’t be an issue.
  19. Never had an issue with mine even at significant distance, must have been 50-60m at least.
  20. I am sure I will be in a minority but for me it would have to be Bob Mould or Kurt Cobain.
  21. I have a ridiculously busy life but make time where I can, I get 40 minutes lunch break at work and use about 25-30 of that for practice at least 4 times a week, then I practice every night between 7 and 8pm when my daughter is watching star trek voyager (yes I know), then we do a 2-3 hr rehearsal at least every other week and usually two or three times in the week leading up to a big gig if we have new material. I even bought a cheap travel bass to take on holiday last year! I think the secret is to find small pockets of time you can squeeze a bit in, even ten minutes messing about with a new part or keeping something fresh helps. I have a very structured system as well (thanks to something I read on here ages ago), so I make sure to split the time up between a fun warm up, technique, new songs and then practice of stuff on the set list. I go over the whole set list over a period of 6 days. I love doing it and I am not the sort to sit in front of a tv for hours so it fits in well for me.
  22. Bit harsh guys, it could be a sign of things to come but it could also be a genuine one off case. Sh1t happens, sad that people would suggest sacking something off on the back of so little information.
  23. Hmmmm, seems a bit suspect on the luthier. Anyone worth their salt would have been able to tell you that yesterday without the dramatics.
  24. Could be anything, the led is often wired from the switch as opposed to off the board so only shows that the pedal has power and the switch is on. You could drop the back off and see if any of the components are obviously fried or if any of the solder joints look dry. Beyond that it gets more involved.
